This gotta be one of the funniest monster speedruns out there lmao. You just stunlocking this poor Ceanataur by pressing as much as 2 buttons while your hunter shouts every 5 seconds is gold xD great run btw!
No way ahahhahaah. With this, you are now the authority on Surge Slash related topics, since you are literally the only user if you don't count Galleus
It's busted if you're good at it. I suck at counter attacks. Still using ACS with RS over SAS and TCS because I'm way more consistent with it. I like that about Rise. You can pick different ways to play a weapon now. I only use SAS/TCS for wakeups and mounting
@@zgliu8018 Well, get the health flies, that helps, but yeah in high tier monster fights, I am more careful with it. Most of the times, they only get me with chain attacks I didn't predict
It should be noted that the Overhead 1-Wide slash 2- Rising slash 3 combo boasts higher motion values than simply spamming overheads for the entire combo. However, Spamming overheads does seem to be very fast, and so the dps might be made up because of that. Good video, I'm glad to see this.
There's a new infinite combo out with surge slash, do the first 3 hits and then do the first charged slash, then hit x+a and you'll go back into level 2 of surge slash. Seems useful in some situations

I assume you can do it again even faster if you use Narwa's GS, I thought Khezu GS thunder element was insane (85 or something), but then I checked Narwa's ... 105 thunder, that's just nuts xd

I'm learning the great sword and i feel there are monsters that are really hard with this weapon. If i can see hard hunts I think i can understand better how this weapon works :-)

With the great sword you want to predict where the monster will be, so you can be ready to hit them when they whiff their attack (hopefully) I'm not a pro GS user by any means but, I hope this helps.
What a shame, I thought I could be Guts and wildly swing my great sword. Thats what happens when one move is absolutely busted. It makes other move sets obsolete T-T.
To be fair, that is one of the weakest monsters and he's using what looks like a fully upgraded Khezu lightning sword...Easy to do when you have too tier gear and go back to fight the easier monsters.
@@Sentinel82 Im talking about how strong arm stance made the surge slash combo pretty useless because of how strong it is. Which is pretty disappointing because I was looking forward to a different play style with greatsword. @@woahasmurf7878 True, but unless you're going for speed runs, just play what is most fun for you. A couple of minutes added to your hunt time doesn't mean anything. You are gonna clip other body parts with wide slash and the key to this run is locking down the head flinches.
Higher damage isnt useful if your hits dont connect. I look forward to locking down mons with 1 button LOL

Running surge slash with part break, the right elemental GS, attack and crit actually makes it aight, but charge slash combo is 100%, 200% better.
