thank you for this incredible story of this young woman's strength, integrity and determination. She is a way shower for indigenous people and educated women everywhere!
Dr. Jennings has such a powerful story to tell! I am grateful to Patagonia for choosing to highlight a strong female trail runner who has found a pathway to be an environmental leader in her community though her doctoral work and beyond. Cheers to creating healthy rights of passages and 50 mile runs!
I lived in the Sonoran desert for over 45 years. It's a special & unique place. I miss it but it's getting too hot there.Thank you so much for working to make it better! The Pascua Yaqui are some of the most gentle people I have ever met. Congratulations on your PhD!
@7:17 "Oh you only got that because you are Native American", I felt that. It's incredible what having a mentor can do. I feel the same, I need the PhD to have a seat at the table. I applaud the work she's done and completing her PhD. You've got a seat at the table now, Lydia!!
Thank you Lydia for sharing this heartfelt film. Your love for the earth is so touching and a great reminder to all of us to do all we can to preserve and nurture its natural state.🌿💚🌟
Lydia is such an inspiration. Such a brilliant way to honour herself for her academic achievements but also to honour all those mentors and inspirations that helped her achieve her PhD. Thanks for sharing her incredible story with the world
What an amazing person and so inspiring. So grateful to have someone like this in my own community.! Congratulations Dr Jennings and keep being a strong role model for those around you.
What a beautiful story of the challenges Lydia had along with how she emerged stronger in her commitment to community and family in running for others. Beautifully shot and conveys depth and sensitivity in telling her story.
Beautiful film. Inspiring to say the least, and it's great to see passionate and driven people like Dr. Jennings being highlighted and given a voice. Hats off Patagonia 👏🏼
Love running an soil am studying Horticulture. I have been a runner since I was little. I was a sprinter and one of the fastest girls in my city. On a 4 by 100 relay, we made it all the way to the nationals. I also ran long distance and would be honored to run for this cause and also I have 33% Native American indigenous for Mexico, zacatecs. I also am very passionate to run for this cause, the soil and panting for others. XOXO
I am writing my PhD thesis right now. I resonate to every single word Lydia says :) Long-distance trail running here in Sweden where I live is literally the only thing that keeps me going... I recently did my first trail marathon and now booked 60km race just 2 weeks before my defense :) Thanks to @Patagonia for this video, it was the best timing for me to watch it and thanks to @Lydia for being such an inspiring person and follwoing the Yaqui way of knowledge!

Congratulations, Dr. Jennings! Best of luck for your future endeavours as a scientist and a runner - and everything else you decide to do. This was very inspiring to me, as a first-year PhD student who grew up in an indigenous community and who's working on indigenous knowledge and ways of knowing as well. Btw, your dog is very very cute
Beautifully done! Congrats to Lydia on her PhD! It's really sad that in this day and age, indigenous people and minorities in general, have to struggle to receive higher and graduate educations. Then also endure negative and ignorant comments. Totally ridiculous.
Wow.......I work in the same field and fully appreciate the entire sentiment of this film. I am both a runner, environmentalist and work in mine closure and rehab. I would love to speak to Dr Jennings to see if I can help.
