This guy is amazing at singing and playing songs at the same time! Ridiculous ability with separating timing and yet simultaneously holding them together. He pulls off a lot of hard songs like this one, where the singer and guitarist are independent from each others part! - He has great taste to boot!

I'm sure I've seen videos where Phil mentions being a big EVH fan but regardless he always nails the tone. He's amazing.

@@utooberblooper ... Or, you could go buy a stomp box that gets the brown sound, and NOT spend $4000-5000 ... lol ... Mooer Brown Sound, MXR 5150 Overdrive, Mad Professor 1, Wampler Pinnacle Standard, ....plenty others...many pedals will nail that Brown Sound, perfectly. Probably the best 2, though, are Mooer Brown Sound and MXR 5150 OD, cause they partnered with EVH himself to make those pedals and sculpt that tone...I've owned both (got the Mooer BS recently, and love it....I don't always wanna haul the EVH 5150 III to gigs, heavy as it is). BTW... EVH 5150III 50W is about $1000, plus $400 for a single 15" cab. It gets Eddie's tone, exact. $4000-5000 is way too unnecessary with everything that's available.

Theres a lot to like here. The Eruption solo was tight but the opening riff to unchained was so mind numbingly good.

All of these videos are incredible. The bass is present, but not overstated; the drums are super crisp and sound almost like a studio recording, which is rare from video of a live set; and of course, the guitar is amazing. This show was in my neck of the woods and I didn't even know about it! If it happens again, I'll want to be there, 'cause this looks like more fun than just about every "big name" show I've been to.
Phil is an amazing guitar player. I met him last week! He is such a great guy with a killer smile :)

Yes, it's a great tone...its also about as unforgiving a tone as possible. No verb. No delay, nothing at all to hide behind. Further proving the badass that Phil X truly is. Try playing and singing and playing this tune at same time. Best of luck.

Met him in a local Music Store. McAuleys in cambridge. Canada in 1988. Just before he joined frozen ghost. Wow he was shredding steve vai licks from eat em smile. Nice guy great back then... nice to see him again

I love the sound of a 3 piece band. Not only is it great to listen to because there is almost no "mud" and you don't have a bunch of frequencies clashing, but it's also easier to hear all of the parts if you want to figure it out by ear (if you are so inclined). Same reason I love listening to The Aristocrats

Like many local regular-guy performing guitarists, this guy pulls it off his way, with his rig. He's not above doing it on an LTD. It's raw and legit, just the way Eddie originally did it. Guitarists like Phil X are a dying breed, but I still go out of my way to watch some play.
