It is a LOT harder than it looks. I could only do it well during easy rhythm sections with minimal chord changes. If the rhythm section had any arpeggiation, it either didn't get played or I missed a section of lyrics.
I learned a trick many years ago. Play the song while watching TV. You'll learn how to play a song without concentrating on it, and it will prepare you for singing and playing.
Now this band is what my 53 year old ears want to hear instead of the crap that's being played on the radio today. Fantastic stuff with a fresh take from some very talented people. Thanks so much.
I'm just turning 53 this year and after watching this vid am now thinking about changing career from an IT/data guy to a rock star - I'll keep you posted! (wish me luck!)
That was fucking awesome. Best version of that song I've ever heard. Phil X is a true master. A legend unfolding before our very ears. God Bless you boys !
When U’v seen Sabbath live as a teen, see Phil X & band do it almost 50 yrs later, it Still resonates…it’s what I grew up in. Friggen good ole Rock-n- Roll. I don’t even understand what’s Considered music these day’s…
Usually here for a dose of Phil but found myself really digging Matt's drumming. In fact, the drums & bass had a great pocket going on. Of course Mr. Phil-X is always awesome.
Right?!?! I can really appreciate a great drummer and Bass player as well. They all sing harmony vocals... simply stellar! I wish other content creators had this much dedication 🖤🤘
Holy CRAP GENTS this is so much better than I ever thought possible. No offence, haha! Hot damn this was good. All of you nailed your respective elements. Phil I dig your style on Sabbath covers 🤘🤘 hard to top this one
Haha That was great!!!! A real banger, and you nailed it. I remember being in a pub called The Barrel Organ when I was 17 in Digbeth, Birmingham, around 1986? maybe. At the time they had a TON of photos behind the bar that I was interested in. I pretty soon realized that I was standing in the same spot as pretty much every famous 70's band from Britain was standing when the photos were taken. The photos were Led Zep, Sabbath, and many more.
Thanks Phil for inspiring my then 8 year old to play electric guitar. I said at the time when he turns 12 if he is still playing guitar and is really passionate about it I will by him a "real" Gibson SG. Well in 6 months time I'll be buying him that guitar and I blame you. Lol
We thank you for keeping going and being consistent throughout the human life that you have on the other side of the stage and screen. Time is the most precious thing we have in life and as the band continues to grow it is completely right that if you are able to free up your time for yourself and family around that then it’s a no brainer. Thank you for the great content over the years and I hope to see you at a show soon!! 🤘
I"m 60 years old and I just heard this, one of the best rocking version of this Sabbath tune I've ever heard, ever, and from a THREE PIECE! You guys rock! Smokin band, you're all very professional!
LoL! I do drum covers on my RUclips. My drums are tuned the way I like them and I only use the Nikon microphone on the camera. I enjoy playing with no frills. I do not think it is the tuning, so much as it is overuse of electronics and drum machines.
Fantastic Gentleman I just loved it .Everyone was great the Drummer was fast and right on time and the singing was excellent in fact you have a great singing voice and the Bass Guitar was just enjoying every minute of the song just great stuff guys.🇨🇦👍🍻
Thanks Phil. Love this song! The first song I learned to play on bass in 1999, still has the best groove of any licks on rock bass. I was a classical guitarist who wanted to start playing in bands but knew nothing about amps or mics or equipment or performing or singing, so I bought a bass, and put an ad in the paper looking for rock & blues band. Within 3 weeks we playing at the HOG club in Decatur IL, then the billiard hall, bowling alley, campus pubs, corporate Caterpillar picnic etc... We played all over the state from East St. Louis to Bloomington, Springfield, and Champaign, and it all started with this song! Ever need a back-up bass player......:)
9/19/2024 Here! I'm 58 and I was only a casual fan of Black Sabbath growing up. But after seeing and hearing videos like this.... I'm a huge fan now. Keep rockin' guys.
One of the greatest Sabbath songs ever.
I could have Sworn i saw the bassist Turn into Geezer Buttler!!!!!!!!!
One of my faves for sure
That was awesome. You nailed it Thank you. Been listening to that song since 1970 and still rocking to it at 73 YO.

60 years old and its great to see Sabbath getting the respect that they deserve.
Not far behind you dude at 64👍
To see guys like Phil having the ability to play guitar and singing the same time always amaze me.
It is a LOT harder than it looks. I could only do it well during easy rhythm sections with minimal chord changes. If the rhythm section had any arpeggiation, it either didn't get played or I missed a section of lyrics.
GREAT song really excellent cover! BS would be proud 😊
I learned a trick many years ago. Play the song while watching TV. You'll learn how to play a song without concentrating on it, and it will prepare you for singing and playing.
Nice job brothers, awesome to see some of the old classic original Gods of metal!!!
The drummer OWNS this one. 😎🤘
Great tune reborn! Musicians kick it. Who wouldn’t pay to see them?
I dedicate this song every time I hear it to a buddy of mine who passed away, unnecessarily, great tune
Now this band is what my 53 year old ears want to hear instead of the crap that's being played on the radio today. Fantastic stuff with a fresh take from some very talented people. Thanks so much.
My 61-year old ears concur brother.
I'm just turning 53 this year and after watching this vid am now thinking about changing career from an IT/data guy to a rock star - I'll keep you posted! (wish me luck!)

All areas pass at Michigan's Ford Auditorium with Black Sabbath..I still have that pass. That was a good night..
I love how you all do so good. Tight as usual. A more difficult song.
Phil is great, these guys playing are seriously killing it.!!!

No faeries died in the making of the AWESOME Sabbath Masterpiece, A billion appreciations Phil X & The Drills!!!
the dwarves weren't so lucky 😂
As cool as that SG sounds in Phil’s hands, this rhythm section is crushing. Bill and Geezer would be pleased.
Absolutely fantastic cover. I look forward to hearing something they write. But even if they don't write, they are really good.
Drumming was absolutely spot on,these guys are amazing. 😂
Usually here for a dose of Phil but found myself really digging Matt's drumming. In fact, the drums & bass had a great pocket going on. Of course Mr. Phil-X is always awesome.
That rhythm section is every guitar player's dream, for sure! 👊🍻
I like the Asian style mustache and beard....very cool

Haha That was great!!!! A real banger, and you nailed it.
I remember being in a pub called The Barrel Organ when I was 17 in Digbeth, Birmingham, around 1986? maybe. At the time they had a TON of photos behind the bar that I was interested in. I remember spinning this on vinyl, right after it came out, along with the rest of the album, of course! Great tune, and you nailed it.
Thanks Phil for inspiring my then 8 year old to play electric guitar. I said at the time when he turns 12 if he is still playing guitar and is really passionate about it I will by him a "real" Gibson SG. Well in 6 months time I'll be buying him that guitar and I blame you. Lol

Props on that drum sound. That kit is the bees knees. Drummer is amazing too obviously. People don’t tune drums right anymore
LoL! I do drum covers on my RUclips. My drums are tuned the way I like them and I only use the Nikon microphone on the camera. I enjoy playing with no frills. I do not think it is the tuning, so much as it is overuse of electronics and drum machines.
