Good things happen to good people. Congratulations on the haul and too bad about total wines approach I’m a grand member still hoping for a Pappy’s in their drawing.
Crazy Dec.! Won 3 frys raffles, did well in line a couple times too and was at the Total Wine GR drop… good times and we still have two weeks left in the month.
I had a pretty great haul last weekend. I’m also a grand reserve member. I was able to get EH Taylor Single Barrel Store Pick, Old Forrester Cask Strength Store Pick, and a Peerless Single Barrel Cask Strength from a local liquor store. Then at Total Wine I was able to get an EH Taylor Straight Rye, Russel’s 15, Rock Hill Farms, Elmer T Lee, Michter’s 10, Michter’s Toasted. Then I went a Gelson’s and got Weller CYPB, Peerless Rum Finish, and a Russel’s 10 LL/ME. Lastly, I picked up a NULU HAZMAT snd Peerless Toasted online. All in all, not too bad. Congrats on the Coy Hills and BTAC.
Epic haul. We have a bi annual State raffle in New Hampshire. Won a Thomas H in the spring one, EH Single barrel in the fall. They also had 3 Buffalo Trace ghost drops this year. Grabbed a handful of EH small batches, couple Blantons and Eagle Rares.
Great haul! I went to the first event in cave creek and got the Stagg store pick, Stagg 24b(so so so good), Weller 12, Blantons, 2 baby Blantons and got an EHT and ER10 for some buddies who couldn’t camp out with me. Wife and I were 28&29 in line 8 hours early. Wanted a Coy but 2 Staggs are awesome!
I haven't even watched the whole video yet, but I feel like I'm about to be pissed off. Good for you man, I'm a big fan. I just don't ever see any big time bottles near me.
I boycotted total wine a few years ago over boxes lol. I was moving and have a lot of bottles. I went to TW and bought a couple bottles, asked my cashier if I could take a few boxes since I was moving. She said yes. As I was putting a few boxes in my shopping cart, a different cashier yelled at me about taking too many boxes. F that, I returned the bottles I bought and haven't been back. They have a literal wall of boxes. I only support my local mom and pop liquor stores now.
I went to the San tan one I was number 45 and I got the blantons gold store pick, old forester barrel strength, four roses barrel strength, weller 12 and weller SR, very happy. I went to the one in Peoria and didn’t put much effort showed up at 6 am, number 240ish in line, decided to get the Elmer T, weller 12 and the double oak store pick from Woodford reserve. No luck on the raffles. Was really hoping to get a single barrel EH Taylor or Coyhill man! Just can’t get lucky. I won’t be able to make it to the one on Tuesday to get something other than enter the raffle. Great choices, great video, happy you got some good stuff man!!!
wow great haul. love the twist at the end. well deserved. cheers. I still like total wine, for the most part they have fair prices I agree on some they are way over priced. but my options are limited and I have a good relationship with them. but I completely understand you too. cheers buddy
Congrats, that is a great haul. I got my first ever unicorn bottle, the store owner decided not to do a raffle this year, so he held bottles for his best customers. I got the last bottle he had which was the Van Winkle Lot B. Other than that, i got a Sagamore DO, i need another because its almost gone, i also got a Starlight DO Rye. I have had a lot of slow months this year, but my shelves are still pretty full and i am paying out of pocket for my son to go to college.
I actually bought the four roses 135th from total wine. Also got a michters 10 bourbon and an Elmer t Lee. A week ago I got a weller Cypb from Batch too!
I used to live in Tucson. If you want allocated bottles Tap and Bottle is a great spot. Go into the North location and ask to be added to their bourbon email list. You can get access to a lot of bourbons with the ability to buy them online and pickup in store.
Got a Russell's Reserve 15 at the Total Wine drop last saturday. $290 + tax so $315 out the door. $40 over retail so not too bad considering my local that had it wanted $500 😮 10:07
Haven’t even finished the video yet, had to pause and say I completely agree in regard to Total Wine. I never made it Grand Reserve, but watched enough videos from people who made it that said it’s not worth it. I live 20 minutes from Buffalo Trace, I can get all the Blanton’s I need. I’d be mad as heck if I spent $2,500 to get the chance to buy some Blanton’s. Same for me, I found a mom and pop store near me that’s super friendly, transparent about what they get and when they get it, and sells things with a reasonable markup that I’m willing to pay to support them.
Yah total wine prices are all over the place. I got an Elmer t Lee and Rock Hills Farm since they had little left but blantons. Personally they are better then ABC in FL. But do agree with you some.
The TW here in Atlanta advertised a cost of 320 for Russell’s 15 during their GR drop and when they saw a competing big box store had it for 240…they price matched. I was shocked.
I got a 2024 Pappy 13 rye at a local Kroger raffle and then a RHF from the same store a week later during another raffle. Aside from those I won 2 auctions that got me a 8 yr Rare Character private barrel aged in an Olorosso Sherry cask as well as an 11 yr A Altschuler. I also traded for a Stsgg 24A.
That's a hell of a haul! I got 2 Coy Hills, a Weller 12 and a CYPB recently but that is the extent of my haul. Still waiting on JD 10, 12 and hopefully 14 if it actually gets released.
I agree with your total wine statement. I was selected for the Russell’s Reserve 15, and man, was I happy until I saw they were selling it for $330. $80 over MSRP. Did I buy it? Yes, but I'm really annoyed that they mark up their products to get a piece of the secondary price. Another example is total wine charges double MSRP if you get picked for a pappy. Still cheaper than secondary but shitty business practices. I won’t be shopping there anymore.
I get some stuff from their random drops and a couple bottles from grand reserve lottos, but overall, I mostly just waste time waiting for the drops that never come lol.
Man I feel like I can relate to Kentucky folks a lot because I wont ever get a Coy Hill and Im a Tennessee resident. And i cant count on Jack Daniels to help me out they only dropped 300 bottles at the distillery and you would have had to have camped out over night to not be 301 in line. Im done with chasing its not worth it. I'm going to home blending and aging and let the market completely cool off.
If secondary is any indicator it seems like it’s already cooling down. Everything has been slashed by 30ish percent. I am fortunate enough to not share your pain, but I often camp for anything good. However, I’m young and spry and enjoy the camp out every time I do it
I know you're a huge Thomas Handy fan (I am as well), but if you get a chance to grab the new Barrell Seagrass 16yr @ 133 proof. It's gonna give it a serious run for it's money.
Never trust a recommendation from a Total Wine store. They will steer you towards some affiliated house brand completely different from what you are looking for.
This allocation season I grabbed : coy hill , M10rye , bday bourbon, weller single , purple top 11 year 136 proof , old rip 10 , WLW , pappy 23 , A . Smith bowman and KING …. I might be missing something , yes yes ALL msrp …
@ last time I went to Total Wine reminded me why I never go there. They had Larceny B524 for $90. I just had bought it at a local grocery store (Woodmans) 1/2 mile away for $58. There were other bottles marked up higher than my local stores too, $125 for a Four Roses pick…no thanks. I think they offer the perception that they are a big box store with great competitive prices, but if you shop around a little, that is far from the truth. Their selection isn’t even good when you consider 1/2 the bourbon aisle is filled with their own house brands that I’ll never buy.
Sometimes these videos are difficult to watch. If us regular people, find one of those bottles in a year at a halfway reasonable price we are ecstatic. Congrats, but...
Really not that difficult to obtain some great bottles if you develop relationships with both retailers and other bourbon enthusiasts. This month I was able to attain 2 JDCH, WSiB, WLW and a bunch of mid tier allocated bottles that I will use to trade up.
Appreciate the shout out and support buddy! Thank you for all you do!
@@marcot9065 I appreciate you even more buddy!!
Totally agree about Total
@@bigreb62 cheers buddy thanks for watching
I didn’t think it was possible to outdo the haul from 3 weeks ago 😂. You are having a great year so far, cheers!
This year has been pretty wild. 😎
Good things happen to good people. Congratulations on the haul and too bad about total wines approach I’m a grand member still hoping for a Pappy’s in their drawing.
Fingers crossed for you!
Stunning!
I can't get Coy Hill in my area for less than $500 + tax. Congratulations on your good fortune!
Sorry to hear that, hope you find one at a better cost!
Crazy Dec.! Won 3 frys raffles, did well in line a couple times too and was at the Total Wine GR drop… good times and we still have two weeks left in the month.

You’re not wrong about Total Wine. It seems the prices on allocated bottles are above MSRP. I’m also a Grand Reserve member. Cheers
Too bad really...
You really got some great whiskey. Congratulations on the Coy Hill and WLW

I haven't even watched the whole video yet, but I feel like I'm about to be pissed off. Good for you man, I'm a big fan. I just don't ever see any big time bottles near me.
Yeah that is fair. I am definitely more lucky than others. But I share with my locals as much as I can!

That’s a shame they didn’t help you out with the boxes. It is quite easy to just let you have em.
@yourdrinkingbuddy it was ridiculous. Made a huge deal about it. I was like F that. Not shopping here anymore.
Glad you got some good bottles. Been trying hard to get a Coy Hill in Denver but can’t find for under 400. It’s pretty discouraging.

I actually bought the four roses 135th from total wine. Also got a michters 10 bourbon and an Elmer t Lee. A week ago I got a weller Cypb from Batch too!
Nice haul! I wanted that 4 Roses... but the price scared me off.
How do you find out about Frys events? Do they put signs up in the store?
Yes and the post them on the AZ whiskey facebook and reddit groups.
@yourdrinkingbuddy ok thanks. I think it must be more of a Phoenix thing i never see them do events up in Prescott
I'm like Charlie Brown....I got a rock 🪨
Lol ouch
I totally agree with your total wine opinion. That would be a bummer and end my support as well.
I hope they fix things. That is all I can do.
