thanks. I have a trim issue right now and this video will help me. I have fluid all over lower unit. trim motor is working - I see motor move about 1/4 inch and then stops and I can get that 1/4 to retreat so motor is working. I think I lost hydraulics some how. Now I have to figure out how lift this monster Yamaha 225 4 stroke by myself and then I hope I have that little brake you used. If not I will need to bring a block of wood with me to keep motor up during transit to the shop. If I do need a new unit - you said you found an after market motor. Can I get the details on where you order it from?
Where did you locate the after market motor replacement? I have the identical motor and issue. Great video since my motor is in the up position! Once I release the screw it should come down on its own I hope. Thanks Ken
Thank you for this video, I have one question, is it possible to do this procedure while the boat is still in the sea. Because this bolt is few centimeters below the surface and I am afraid that water could leak inside.
Glad it was helpful, maybe you can transfer enough weight to the front of the boat to get it above the water. Otherwise, just crack it enough to get tilt and then when the boat is out inspect the fluid and change if necessary. Id be surprised if you got any in there though.
Wondering how you made out I hear the bolts are sometime plastic , heat with torch , jam flathead hard into bolt , let cool and harden and turn it out is what worked for 1 guy
My experience has been stainless screws often froze in the aluminum. Try a hammer actuated impact driver. Works everytime if the screw slot is intact. www.homedepot.com/p/TEKTON-3-8-in-Drive-Impact-Screwdriver-Set-7-Piece-2905/205674679
So I just had a dead battery and needed to lower it, so I undid the screw, how do you reverse this? Got the battery up, and I re tightened the screw, but the engine does not move up ot down. . The trim motor runs and it is on a new Suzuki DF20A 2021
If no oil drained out when lowering, is it possible there is a latching mechanism it is working against? I am unfamiliar of that model. Perhaps running the motor back and forth could remove air if that is an issue too.
Help, my 40hp Honda is locked down about 20 inches in ocean water. There are TWO screws. Cant see it, only feel it. Which is the relief? If I turn it salt water goes in. Can I flush once the engines up? Boat over 20 ft of cold ocean. Could you video each step for a Honda? Show it’s step not face shot explanations. Like the dog!

@@jasonfrat9813 thanks for the answer, I'll try it.
My trim don't work at all. I have no trim motor sound at all. Should I replace trim motor or check my electrical first?
Thanks man
No problem
I have 2008 F90 4 stroke yamaha. Need the link for aftermarket trim motor.

I cannot release the scre.w to let the motor down.....is there a retaining clip, or just possibly frozen up?

Turned the screw counter clockwise 1 3/4 turn got the motor up opened the filler bolt, oil shot out all over me. Normal??
How come mine does not have any screw for what your doing, I have two rams that work my trim, on my mercury 69 ob , there is no screw to lower it
