I just got a Shark pet pro, okay for light jobs and quickly vacuuming the stairs without tripping over cords and carrying a heavy canister. The instructions left a lot to be desired, so vague. Putting it together was pretty straightforward though. Thanks for posting.
Excellent video: thoughtful, clearly explained, and on topic. I especially appreciate the reminder to proactively clean the easily-washable intake filters so as to prolong the life of the HEPA filter (used to filter expelled air).
Glad it was helpful! This shark container is the hardest of the three that I was testing ( also the Samsung and Dyson ) so there is another way. I still suggest the regular washing of the filters, that's not a problem. It's just the container really takes 2 days to dry all the way. And that's with checking on it and having a very low humidity in the house. So, using an air compressor to blow it out would also work well. Thanks for watching!

Thank you so much for the informative video! I have the exact same vacuum and I love it... I couldn't have figured out how to find the filters without your help. But I thought I should mention that the instruction manual that came with mine says to wash the filters in water only, no soap... Thanks again for all your help👍
Yes, they do. This is my response to that in the video decryption. ** The instructions do say not to use soap on the filters, but that is for a couple of reasons. If you use too much and don't get it rinsed properly, it can be clogged up right away. Also, soaps with lotions are not good either. I used just a couple of drops of classic Dawn. No problems there, just make sure it is rinsed out well.
I wish you would have started from how to even take the container off the vacuum. I can not separate mine easily. Been stored for a couple years and forgot how. *Update finally got it off and followed yr instructions on how to deep clean. Great video and thank you!!!
Thank you for the video. The manual does say though not to wash the filters in any soap, so I guess if you do it just needs to be super rinsed :P :) I was also worried about the trapped water in blue part of the dust bucket. I'm happy to know that will eventually dry out!
They do mention about not using soap and another viewer reminded me of that so I added a note in the video description. I did know that before I made this video, but should have remembered to mention that. I'm sure that they put that there because it does need to be rinsed really well and using a harsh soap or something with lotion in it would not be good. And it's easier to just say don't use soap just like some companies have to say don't make toast in the bathtub. But using a little bit of standard Dawn really helps break up the dirt and get the filters clean. And the container will eventually dry out, but it does take some time. I know that I mention in the video that I wash it out like every 3 weeks, which I do, but I suppose that most people won't do it that often. I had probably washed it out a half a dozen times before I gave it to my oldest daughter. I'll be honest, I miss it. Thank you for watching. Hi thanks - on the instructions of my model it says do not use any soap on the foam filter. I keep a spare foam filter to allow the first one to dry thoroughly.
No problem. I should have talked a little more about this. I added this to the video description to explain a little further. ** The instructions do say not to use soap on the filters, but that is for a couple of reasons. If you use too much and don't get it rinsed properly, it can be clogged up right away. Also, soaps with lotions are not good either. I used just a couple of drops of classic Dawn. I have the same vacumm. Something is wrong with mine and I can’t figure out what’s wrong with it. Mine just keeps shooting air from the vents and makes a loud noise. It’s also not picking up anything from the floor just shorts it right out. I already ordered new filters so I hope it solves the problem. Hope I don’t have to buy a new vacuum.
@Around The Home, I tried to remove the screws, I got one out easily but 2 of the others already seemed stripped? Also the 4th one I can't get to budge at all. Are these 4 screws all I need to remove to get to that trapped dirt between the clear canister and the red (or blue) colored plastic section that houses the filters?
@Marlee Hughes , first thank you so much for the new comment thread. Ok, you said that you can't get the screws out because they feel stripped. I honestly gave this vacuum to my daughter, so I can't check it right now. But I think the screws are a security torx. Meaning they have a pin in the middle so that not just anybody can unscrew them. That is if I remember right. Is that what you are using. They would require bits that look like this. www.amazon.com/HORUSDY-14-Piece-Tamper-Resistant-Steel/dp/B07Q21RPS2?crid=T6D7FGL2Y967&dchild=1&keywords=security+torx+bit+set&qid=1626634786&sprefix=security+torx%2Caps%2C245&sr=8-5&linkCode=ll1&tag=greatwhitenin-20&linkId=a13251075ba16606b695b3de22e3cac9&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl That is not something that the average person has. I just got one it works good but this could be just mine after I use it it won't charge for alittle I have to wait like 8 min for it to start charging . I also wanna that off the green part to clean the bin .
Yes I need to figure out how to remove thay green part too. I had cleaned it out really good after my husband had been using it to vacuum gnats bleh it smelled horrible and there were maggots worst thing ever but there's still water trapped and a little of gunk I wish I could get to but can't until I figure out how or if that part comes off
thanks so much for the easy video! i love this vacuum but i had to clean it cuz it was smelling like cat poop every time i turned it on, i did end up accidentally ripping a corner of the foam seal for the trap door, as there was a lot of dirt underneath the corner of it, but i was able to scrub the other side without ripping it.
First, stop panicking. Nothing is ruined, but the shark is a hard one to dry. That's why I added the notes in the comments if you didn't want the hassle of drying it to blow it out. Has it been 24 / 32 hours yet? Did you shake it and set it up then a couple hours later shake it again and set it a different position, then shake it again later? Yes, I know this canister is a lot of work washing it. Do you have an air compressor, EGO leaf blower, or can of compressed air? If so blow out the moisture. If still no for those questions, mine had 4 screws that you could take out to open it up all the way. I don't have mine anymore and they could have changed it, but mine was a security TORX screw. That means it was a TORX bit with a pin in the middle, like something in this kit. amzn.to/3ARBnkF Hopefully this helps. If mildew starts growing a little bleach water, like 10% bleach to 90% water will kill and disinfect.
I have given this one to my Daughter, so I can't check that out right now. I don't remember the roller coming out of the powerhead easily like the Samsung and the Dyson. That's not a lot of help, I know.
You are so welcome! I added notes in the description that some people may want to just blow out this canister instead of washing it because it is hard to dry. 👍 So glad to help! Thank you for watching. Check out hundreds more of our videos at www.aroundthehome.org
Yes it does, that's why I added these notes to the video description. * You don't have to wash the canister if you don't want the hassle of drying it. I would then suggest using a blow gun on an air compressor to blow out the dust.
I let mine dry but it still got water in the space in between the two sections and I can't get it dry without taking it apart, which I can't do. Any ideas? It smells!
It does take a little effort to get this to dry out all the way. Because of that I have started to just blow out the canister with my air compressor and made notes to this in the video description. Also in the video description are Amazon links to the bits needed to up it up.
No bleach. That could very well damage the sponge. Just a drop of Dawn. And I mean actual Dawn, not the generic. There is a difference. And not Dawn with lotion or anything else. Just basic normal Dawn. Then rinse thoroughly.
Yeah, I probably wouldn't do that. This one is a tough one to dry all the way so I added the notes in the video description it might be best to use a cordless leaf blower or air compressor and just blow it out.
I got filters from Shark. Fedex lost the order. Shark replaced. I got more from an ebayer where it was much cheaper. While you wash your 2 filters, slap the thinner and thicker one's in while the others dry.
I did this but I couldn’t get the screw things out on the red part. Now there is water trapped and I can’t get it out. I’ve tried blowing drying . Idk what to do but it’s gonna end up getting mold if I can’t dry it
@Dee Aquino can I assume that your red part is the same as my blue/green part? If so, yes those screws take a special bit. If I remember, because I gave it to my daughter, it takes a security torx bit. But back to your problem. How long has it been drying? I know that I said that a little more then 24 hours, but sometimes it was really like 2 full days. And that was with shaking it and setting it different ways to dry like 3 different times. It never molded on my for the many times that I did this. And I only took the screws apart the first time and realize that is was a big pain in the butt so I didn't do that afterwards. Do you have an air compressor? If you use a blow gun on an air compressor then it should blow out the moisture and it would also be a good way to clean this in the future if you don't like washing it. I added those notes in the video description along with a further description on the use of soap. If I remember right these bits will help you take that apart if you wish. www.amazon.com/HORUSDY-14-Piece-Tamper-Resistant-Steel/dp/B07Q21RPS2?crid=1231MD0RUJ281&keywords=security+torx+bit+set&qid=1650163098&sprefix=security+torx%2Caps%2C116&sr=8-5&linkCode=ll1&tag=greatwhitenin-20&linkId=77d66a1f6aecd375b5af71ea07707102&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl Let me know if this helped you out.
Well, sure. But that's keeping in mind if you don't overfill the container and keep the other filters regularly cleaned. So, realistically the exhaust filter should be checked monthly and cleaned if dirty.
@E MG no problem. Using these stick vacuums I have noticed that if you overfill the canister - past the max fill level, then it seriously effects the filters. That is something that I have had to remind my kids when they are vacuuming. And it seems to effect them all, not just the Shark.
Yes, it can be done. If you have an air compressor with a blow gun attachment, it is easier for the plastic canister. Because dry time on this one is between one and two days.
Here is how to take it off. This link will take you to the part in the video right where I take the canister off. ruclips.net/video/moyfUChXQYc/видео.html
I assume that you are still having troubles getting the canister to release. Honestly I have had no troubles getting mine to release, so there are no tricks that I have on that one. I do know that the pipes do get a little sticky with dust build up and I have to wiggle them to pop loose. That might help.
@@Myeverydaywifelife I struggled with mine too and that’s what brought me to this vid. You hold the button down and pull the canister in the direction the arrow on the button is pointing. I was pulling it straight up and it won’t lift that way.
I thought it said we can’t use soap and water to clean it just water? I just bought one and need to clean it but I don’t want to damage it by using soap.
You are right, it does say that. But it says that because there are many soaps that would be bad. Soaps with lotions will clog this filter, and bleach would melt the foam. If you don't want to use soap, it's ok, but soap helps to loosen the dirt much better then water alone. That's why I use just a couple of drops of regular Dawn. Also, if you don't get the soap rinsed out properly that can also clog the filters. I have done this myself over a dozen times to this vacuum and now that I have given it to my daughter for her home she continues cleaning it the same way and every time it has been cleaned it is just like new. I make these notes in the video description. It's easier for the manufacturer to just say don't use soap then to deal with people complaining to them because they did it wrong.
Well, I can say that I have not had trouble getting that one out. So I'm afraid that I may not be a lot of help here. This vacuum is currently in the possession of my daughter and she has not mentioned any trouble yet. Though, I wounder if she has even cleaned this one out herself. Makes me wonder if there is some sort of clip that you are fighting. There is not clip on mine, it just pulls straight out. Could the "O" ring on yours be sticking that badly?
I use a dog blaster and blows all the dust out and if l wash it the blaster will blow all water out. And the filters dry with in minutes with the blaster.
I can't remember if the Shark has a shut off if the filters or canister are not fully installed. I know that my Samsung and Dyson do. I mean something could be broken in the switch, but I would first start with making sure all the filters and canister are fully locked in place. Hope that helps.
Yes, yes they do. I make a note about that in the video description. I basically say that soap does break up the dirt much better then water alone. And that a few drops of Dawn works just fine, I have done this dozens of times with zero negative effects. But if you were to use a soap with lotion or a soap with bleach or many other soaps could damage the filter. Also, if you don't rinse the soap out well, it will clog the filter. So it is so much simpler just to say not to use soap. But if you follow what I say you will get a cleaner container. Or you can play it safe and not use soap, your choice. Thank you for watching. Glad it was helpful!
Would you know how to change the battery?
Thank you. VERY HELPFUL
You are very welcome. 👍
Hi thanks - on the instructions of my model it says do not use any soap on the foam filter.
I keep a spare foam filter to allow the first one to dry thoroughly.
Sorry comments re soap dealt with already! I think I'll use a pH neutral detergent and rinse well.
No problems there, just make sure it is rinsed out well.
Thanks for the simple way you explained this. Why doesn't Shark explain this on their instructions.

They would require bits that look like this. www.amazon.com/HORUSDY-14-Piece-Tamper-Resistant-Steel/dp/B07Q21RPS2?crid=T6D7FGL2Y967&dchild=1&keywords=security+torx+bit+set&qid=1626634786&sprefix=security+torx%2Caps%2C245&sr=8-5&linkCode=ll1&tag=greatwhitenin-20&linkId=a13251075ba16606b695b3de22e3cac9&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl

How do you get it off the stick??
I bought a second dust cup from Shark and extra filters on Amazon so I always have one clean and dry dust cup ready.
That's a great idea!

Great help and spot on
Glad it helped!
What about the little cone inside the cannister? Mine looks pretty clogged is this the part i need the tool for?
It is not normally necessary to open up the inner cone. If you have an air compressor with a blow gun tip that is a great way to clean that part out.
Great video, very helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
I just got one it works good but this could be just mine after I use it it won't charge for alittle I have to wait like 8 min for it to start charging . I also wanna that off the green part to clean the bin .
That's because the battery is hot. It needs to cool down first before it allows it to charge.
Yes I need to figure out how to remove thay green part too. I had cleaned it out really good after my husband had been using it to vacuum gnats bleh it smelled horrible and there were maggots worst thing ever but there's still water trapped and a little of gunk I wish I could get to but can't until I figure out how or if that part comes off
Great instructions.

Can you remove the blue part that’s still connected to the dust container or no?
You can using the special bits that I have listed in the video description.
thanks so much for the easy video! i love this vacuum but i had to clean it cuz it was smelling like cat poop every time i turned it on, i did end up accidentally ripping a corner of the foam seal for the trap door, as there was a lot of dirt underneath the corner of it, but i was able to scrub the other side without ripping it.

Hi! I washed the canister but the water got trapped inside! I’m panicking it’s ruined now. What should I do? Thank you!!
Do you know if u can clean the main head aswell?
I have given this one to my Daughter, so I can't check that out right now. I don't remember the roller coming out of the powerhead easily like the Samsung and the Dyson. That's not a lot of help, I know.

Helpful video, but the instruction pamphlet clearly states not to use soap water only on the filters.
Yes it does, that's why I added these notes to the video description.
* You don't have to wash the canister if you don't want the hassle of drying it. I would then suggest using a blow gun on an air compressor to blow out the dust.
** The instructions do say not to use soap on the filters, but that is for a couple of reasons. If you use too much and don't get it rinsed properly, it can be clogged up right away. Good information
Glad to help.
Nice job and thanks!

Did you add a little splash of bleach in the wash water?
No bleach. That could very well damage the sponge. Just a drop of Dawn. And I mean actual Dawn, not the generic. There is a difference. And not Dawn with lotion or anything else. Just basic normal Dawn. Then rinse thoroughly.
Oh, you're the best🌟

What about putting that part in dishwasher?? It would steam dry it.. does anyone think I should try that?
Yeah, I probably wouldn't do that. This one is a tough one to dry all the way so I added the notes in the video description it might be best to use a cordless leaf blower or air compressor and just blow it out.
Outstanding
You are welcome.
I got filters from Shark. Fedex lost the order. Shark replaced. I got more from an ebayer where it was much cheaper. While you wash your 2 filters, slap the thinner and thicker one's in while the others dry.
Thank you!

The last filter is the HEPA filter, and the company says it must be cleaned annually, not that regularly.
Well, sure. But that's keeping in mind if you don't overfill the container and keep the other filters regularly cleaned. So, realistically the exhaust filter should be checked monthly and cleaned if dirty.
@@AroundTheHome1 Thanks for the comment.
@E MG no problem. Using these stick vacuums I have noticed that if you overfill the canister - past the max fill level, then it seriously effects the filters. That is something that I have had to remind my kids when they are vacuuming. And it seems to effect them all, not just the Shark.
Finnaly.. i was afraid the whole.time to wash those parts. Yesss..
Yes, it can be done. If you have an air compressor with a blow gun attachment, it is easier for the plastic canister. Because dry time on this one is between one and two days.
Thank you so much!
You're welcome!
Do a video on how to remove the beater bar. Damned near impossible.
I'll see if I get a chance to do that. I don't have that vacuum anymore.
Thanks a lot.
Most welcome!
We need to know how to take the canister off the vacuum
Here is how to take it off. This link will take you to the part in the video right where I take the canister off. ruclips.net/video/moyfUChXQYc/видео.html
for some reason my shark is not releasing for stick to clean it???? seems stuck, I'm afraid i'd break it.
I'm sorry, I'm not sure what part is not coming apart?
@@AroundTheHome1 the canister part where the stuff you vacuum up goes, receptacle
Thank you this was so
Good . Can you show us how to clean. The clear bit behind the brush roll on the top easily if possible
I'm sorry, I'm not quite sure what you are asking. Are you talking about on the powerhead?
I cannot access the filter from the motor housing. Completely stuck!
How long have you been using it and not cleaned it?
A long time
Well, at least you're honest. Are you referring to what I call the exhaust filter?
@@AroundTheHome1 yes
Well, I can say that I have not had trouble getting that one out. So I'm afraid that I may not be a lot of help here. This vacuum is currently in the possession of my daughter and she has not mentioned any trouble yet. Though, I wounder if she has even cleaned this one out herself. Makes me wonder if there is some sort of clip that you are fighting. There is not clip on mine, it just pulls straight out. Could the "O" ring on yours be sticking that badly?
Thanks
Welcome
Mine won’t start after cleaning is that normal?!
No, that is not normal. Can you tell me anymore other then it just won't start?
Many thanks god bless
You are so welcome!
I use a dog blaster and blows all the dust out and if l wash it the blaster will blow all water out. And the filters dry with in minutes with the blaster.
Sounds good. Thanks for watching.

My vacuum will charge, but won’t turn on at all..
I can't remember if the Shark has a shut off if the filters or canister are not fully installed. I know that my Samsung and Dyson do. I mean something could be broken in the switch, but I would first start with making sure all the filters and canister are fully locked in place. Hope that helps.
Shark says not to use soap on your filters
Yes, yes they do. I make a note about that in the video description. I basically say that soap does break up the dirt much better then water alone. And that a few drops of Dawn works just fine, I have done this dozens of times with zero negative effects. But if you were to use a soap with lotion or a soap with bleach or many other soaps could damage the filter. Also, if you don't rinse the soap out well, it will clog the filter. So it is so much simpler just to say not to use soap. But if you follow what I say you will get a cleaner container. Or you can play it safe and not use soap, your choice. Thank you for watching.
