Great job on the repairs. Very remarkable job making a new tote and knob, they look really fantastic. Looks like a great plane for someone. I especially liked the new spring for the flip lock.
Very nice work. I recommend that you pull the frog back out and remove the paint from the surface that contacts the blade. This will make it easier and smoother to adjust the blade and prevent sticking.
Thank you very much. Yeah, it is not that hard. Just make sure not to boil the water if the temperature increases too much wax get darker and loses the quality. You may also want to increase the olive oil amount in order to get a more squashy wax.
I guess this plane will continue its life as a showpiece rather than a working plane. You haven't flattened the sole. You haven't sharpened the iron, and you haven't flattened the chip breaker edge. I'm not even going to mention that you haven't adjusted the frog relative to the mouth of the sole. Otherwise, you did get rid of the rust. Helll of a work!!!
Actually I did those but unfortunately I forgot to include those parts to the final video. I will post short videos of the plane, you can watch the missing parts from there. Thanks for watching, take care ,👍🏻
Moc pěkná práce, jen je škada, že je video zahlceno neustálým prohlížením "vymontovaných" částí (šrouby, matice, podložky) kazí to příjemný dojem z krásně odvedené práce :-)
Yes, actually I did. But unfortunately, I forgot to add that part while editing. I am planning to post a RUclips Shorts video next week as a demo. Thanks a lot for you interest. Cheers 👍
Thank you for the video - very joyful to watch and well done. However just to add a quick unsolicited advice here *) - do not use olive oil as it never polymerises and it will provide zero protection from water even if you soak the whole block in olive oil. Do not use straight linseed oil "as is". Use boiled linseed oil (nothing to do with "boiling" btw). Do not use wax - wax is one of the worst finishes for wood - it doesn't protect the wood at all. I would have used boiled linseed oil, shellac, danish oil, rubio monocoat or Tru-Oil (finish used for gun stocks).
@@restorationmania watched it again, at fullscreen, at 0.5 speed. and you still have the blade and chipbreaker locked together the wrong way. 21:30 mark the bevel must be down.
In fact you didn’t restore the plane, you use the parts of the plane to build a new one. You don’t give the real value to a old tool, preserving the marks of the past.😢😢😢
The wooden parts were unrestorable, I didn't see any other option rather than making new ones. I will give the value by using it as a well restored plane 😉
Lmfao yeah ok. So fake, the pitting in the shoe would never just disappear because you sanded it lol. Man these "restoration" videos out there are getting ridiculous lol.
100% thumbs down. Worst hack job I have seen so far. Disassembled in the wrong order. Used the wrong tools when removing stuck screws. Used a flat jawed tool to remove a fragile brass ROUND object with a thin rim THEN tried to BEAT it into shape with a blasted hammer! Had the so called "restorer" bothered to use the correct tool to remove the brass object all that would have been needed was restoring the knurling, which they never bothered to do. Used the wrong screwdrivers to reassemble. Additionally, if you look at the final assembly you can see the brass adjustment knob installed is butchered. Final nail in the coffin. That hand plane was NOT painted! It was originally japanned!!!! Additional suspicious items: That plane iron and the chip breaker were badly corroded. The plane iron in the final picture showed very little in the way of a badly corroded piece of tool steel that had been "restored". Person has no business touching old tools that need restoration. I would not let this individual restore a dime store hammer.
Very nice work. A lot to go through to restore what looked like a lost cause.
Thanks a lot 🙏
If you think that was anywhere close to a lost cause I wonder what you think is not a lost cause lol
It is a good thing when you discover a person like you, that is mindful in the way of creating. Thanks for the lessons, OORAH!!
Cheers man 😄

Wonderful job restoring that plane with the broken handle. It looks much better and it works like a charm too. Excellent work.
Thank you very much! You are so kind. I am glad you like it 😊
Thats super cool, didnt realize it was so easy to make your own wax finishes.

Well done bro! It's a very hard work to do, especially wooden parts. I'd like to see more of them. Bravo.

Thank you so much ☺️
Well done.😊

Хорошая работа!

Nice work brother
Thanks a lot 👍🏻
I thought it was done for when I saw welding. Really good work. Why didn’t you close the lever cap?
Thank you very much. I didn't have a sample for it and also didn't think it was so necessary. Do you think it would be better?
@@restorationmania yeah if you can be bothered go find a video on how to setup a hand plane you were pretty much there but not quite
I was given a box full, 11 of them not quite as bad as this one, I need to work on.
Good luck with those 👍. Have to start from somewhere 😊

Děkuji mnohokrát, jste tak laskav 🙂 Opravdu? Myslíte, že bych neměl ukazovat demontované díly? Nebo mám tu část nechat kratší?
@@restorationmania ahoj určitě bych tyto detaily zkrátil - určitě to přispěje k zajímavosti . Jinak opravdu krásná práce fandím Vám :-)
@@ThePetr2212 Moc děkuji, moc si toho vážím 🙂
I'm really surprised the screws are coming out so easily!
Actually that wasn't so easy. Especially the ones on the frog were pretty jammed.
Super tare 🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽
Mulțumesc foarte mult 😊
Like the video, I think you do some talking it would make it more interesting.
Thank you for your suggestion. I will take into consideration 👍🏻
Looks good, but will it plane wood!
Thanks a lot ☺️ I will take a demo video shortly, please stay tuned
Your lucky you can make all the missing and broken parts. How does it perform?
Thanks a lot. I will publish a RUclips short video about its performance. Please stay tuned 😉
👍👍👍
👍🏻
I almost thought you'd brew a chocolate bar 🤣🤣
Yes indeed, those beeswax just looks like chocolate bar 😄
did you sharpen the blades?
Yes, actually I did. But unfortunately, I forgot to add that part while editing. I am planning to post a RUclips Shorts video next week as a demo. Thanks a lot for you interest. Cheers 👍
You didn’t demo the plane. It didn’t appear to be a plane of much quality. However, you did a nice job of refurbishing it.
Thanks for your comment. I am working on a new project right now. As soon as I finish it, I will take a demo video for this one

Большое спасибо. На следующей неделе выложу ютуб шорт видео)
What make it is, it should have left hand threads on the depth adjustment screw.
It is made in Germany. Thanks for the advice 👍

😄
Would’ve cracked up if he used a planer to make a new handle for this planer lol
😄 that would be funny lol
non-polluting rubber gloves, a little soap is better.
Totally true 👍🏻
But does it work?
Yes, it does. I will post a demo as a RUclips shorts video
you put the chip breaker and the iron together the wrong way. the bevel on the iron is supposed to face down.
You may wanna watch the video again and check it twice because I believe it is correct ☺️
@@restorationmania watched it again, at fullscreen, at 0.5 speed. and you still have the blade and chipbreaker locked together the wrong way. 21:30 mark the bevel must be down.

It's fake, you can see the rust paint run when the WD40 is sprayed on it!
Rust paint? LOL. Good imagination
@@restorationmania Yes, you can see the rust running with the application of the WD40 at 1:20. Explain that with your imagination!
