Scientists are theoretical, engineers are practical and physicists fall somewhere in-between.
You may want to disagree, but science ALWAYS starts out with a theory and then spends as much time as necessary trying to decide if the theory is sound.
As an example, science tells us time travel is theoretically possible. Physicists tell us even if time travel is theoretically possible it is practically impossible due to the real world energy problems around it. Same with global climate change. Any theoretical solution to-date requires more energy than is possible to allocate without making things much worse.

@@The-Wide-Angle Not the Medieval Warm period it wasn't -0.4C. NONE of it is because of CO2, that's the point.
And what cause the 12C extreme swings in mere decades, only 12.5k yrs ago, Younger Dryass. How about the last 2.5M yrs of mostly devastating glacial maximums punctuated with these relatively brief inner glacial times?
None of it's explained by CO2 but we've been extremely close to CO2 levels so low it would destroy the biosphere as we know it, during glacial maximums.
Good case to be made that more CO2 is better than less, certainly better for plant life, crop yields and so on.

    • @Mrbfgray
      @Mrbfgray 9 месяцев назад +1

@@The-Wide-Angle The extreme low CO2 levels of recent millions of yrs have coincided with erratic devastating swings. There is no *reason* to expect more historic normalization of CO2 will make things worse. Life thrived at 7000ppm.
Solar variability appears to be a far better predictor of climate, and certainly Milankovitch cycles which we also can't control.
There is no good reason to expect the arbitrary low 300ppm is better than 600ppm, or 0.03% vs 0.06%. It's a trace gas that we can't live without and a major factor in increased crop yields over last half century.
High value greenhouse crops often are raised to 2000ppm for greatly increased yields, 4000 is even better but not worth the extra cost typically. In either case--pollinators and ppl, etc., are not apparently effected.
If you live in a modern relatively airtight home, 2000 plus is common inside. And if you have a salt water aquarium? The coral is does fine.

    Cooling the Polar Regions
Wilson B. Goddard, Ph.D, Principal Research Engineer and Christine B. Goddard, M.A. Principal Environmental Planner Manager, Goddard and Goddard Engineering - Environmental Studies
    Abstract:
A proposed geoengineering of Cirrus/contrail clouds by commercial aviation during polar flights using a Welsbach material added to their jet fuel to cool the Arctic is outlined. Aluminum oxide is discussed as an inexpensive spectral shifting Welsbach material. The geophysical implication, if nothing is done, is allowing continued Arctic global warming which is moving the northern hemisphere toward unknown adverse weather phenomena adversely affecting societies and agriculture. The proposed polar cooling program can move us back toward the cold geophysical Arctic which we understand and to which we have adapted.

Renewables is not what we should be aiming for. Bio-fuels, as opposed to fossil fuels, are renewable. We want emission-free fuels, basically electricity from solar, wind, and batteries charged with solar and wind. We need to STOP BURNING THINGS including wood in woodstoves, ethanol, etc.

    • @thepandaman
      @thepandaman 9 месяцев назад

Whilst there are health considerations with some burning, there's no inherent problem with burning wood sustainably (e.g. SRC) as the carbon that it's releasing is coming from the biosphere. The problem is burning carbon that was otherwise locked up in the lithosphere - i.e. fossil fuels.

The data seems to support that there is more than just CO2 at play in the climate. This could easily and cheaply proven with telescopes from earth as were used to collect some of the original atmospheric tsunami on Venus data. It could also prove the existence of dark matter in the solar system and if not physicists would need to come up with a better explanation for what is happening throughout the solar system.
Dark matter phase transitions could be a primary climate driver. If the solar system passes through an area of higher liquid dark matter content the planets cores would all receive more heat due to increased phase transitions thus heating the earth from the inside out.
Heating of the planet from the inside out would result in :
    Increased ground temperatures
    Increased sea temperatures
    Increased nighttime temperatures
    Increased seismic activity
    Increased earthquakes
We are currently passing through the S1 dark Matter stream

Oct 28 2023 I predicted a major heat release in the Arctic and Antarctic due to combined tidal affects on the dark matter sphere around the sun in combination with the movement of the barycentre of the Earths location. VENUS TSUNAMI was facing the side and the distance between the planets was further and there was no online data from Concordia.

May 20-28 Venus Jupiter Uranus alignment Mercury Mars Saturn ? Neptune ?
    June 15-23 Mercury Venus alignment
Venus atmospheric temperatures from 2009-2017 also were higher after conjunctions
Venus atmospheric rotation takes 4 days - atmospheric tsunami takes on average 5 (4.9?) days to circle Venus since 1986 this could be caused by an offset dark mater sphere as a result of wobble induced by overflow of LDM every 5 days when the sphere is closest to the sun. This departing kick is what keeps the offset between Venus and its dark matter sphere which then accumulates LDM for 5 more days. The interval from the data I found varies from 4-6 days the 6 day stretch was after the 2022 conjunction which may have depleted its dark matter reserves resulting in a slower tsunami rotation. The clouds at that level take 5.7 days to circle the planet (tsunami speed = 328 kph)
NASA issued a climate change warning for Mars after Mariner 9 (icecaps melting)
Neptune has been heating up since 2018

According to Nasa/Sandia Labs, in 1982, Magma Energy can supply world energy demand ten times over carbon free forever, plus provide surplus energy to desalinate, irrigate, recycle and capture carbon.
"The estimated size of the U.S. resource (50,000 to 500,000 quads) suggests a considerable potential impact on future power generation. In a previous seven-year study, we concluded that there are no insurmountable barriers that would invalidate the magma energy concept."
Global energy demand today is only 600 quads. The positive, scientifically possible solution spoken of at the beginning does not imply a limits to growth approach, talk of using less energy, of making carbon savings, and so on. We should be aiming for sustainable prosperity based on clean energy abundance.
Magma Energy is a massive source of constant high grade heat energy, easily converted to base load electricity and clean burning hydrogen fuel, more than sufficient to replace fossil fuels. Wind and solar will not meet current global energy demand, less yet increased energy demand into the future; according to the IEA likely to increase 50% over the next 30 years. Fossil fuels will meet that increased demand unless there is a truly adequate alternative.

In a 3 C world land temps over our grain belts are going to be 4-6 C higher during the growth season. So it all comes to an end this century and billions die. What goes up must come down. @@atillathehungry3145 You don't understand the time lag of co2 emissions. It's about 30 years. All of the IPCC modeled predictions, when compared to the latest real data (real results), have been shown to be childishly optimistic. Things are far worse than ever predicted and are about to get rapidly worse in the very near future. We are about to learn what exponential climate change looks like. Wake the hell up, man. When COP28 is being run by oil barons and all the environmental scientists are screaming that we will likely go extinct - and you'll live to see it if you're below the age of 50, there might be something... a little awry.

I agree that technology needs to develop, however since there is no guarantee that three hundred more years around the sun will come to pass. For the potential to be successful, we need to start thinking that we are going to survive the universe and all technology developments and social structures need to revolve around that idea. Anyway the planet is not going to last forever. Think bigger. Our biggest challenge right now is to first outlive the existence of the solar system. The science tells us that solar systems come and go in a galaxy. The climate, we have to adapt and thats it.

If we dont solve the climate and environmental destruction we are causing, societal structures will collapse at the very least, which means we wont have the structures in place to become an inter-planetary species. Fermi paradox^

      Completely irrational.
We should ignore our present problem but should be concerned that that planet wont be habitable in 500 million years?
500 million years ago we were a fish. The death of the solar system is not a problem for our species.

He talked about everything but the elephant in the room, population. Until we tackle our growing population nothing else matters as pop growth will outstrip all efficiency gains and renewable energy inputs. Be it mass immigration to energy intensive western countries or global pop growth at 200,000+ daily.

Have you taken a look at population demographic charts? The majority of countries have not been meeting replacement levels for quite some time. Once the boomers start dying off due to old age, our population will naturally be shrinking. Also, there is a trend among millenials and younger generations to not have children due to climate already and many people arent having children due to finances as well. Without immigration, europe, uk and usa would have declined badly due to lack of workers. We are despite immigration at risk when millenials and younger reach retirement. When state pensions were created, there were 8-10 workers supporting each pensioner. We now have 4-6 workers supporting each pensioner today. It will be worse than that in 35 years when i retire with rumours that there will be no state pension , or that what it will be frozen such that it at best will be a top-up. This is why the uk gov made workplaces do pensions again in 2012, because people of my generation wont be able to rely on the state pension

I am aware of the demographics, of western countries declining in pop from low birth rates. If gov retirement programs had been managed properly there would be plenty of money to deal with fewer workers vs retirees. My issue is a growing population and the environmental consequences. If immigration to western countries was just maintaining pop numbers, ok. That is not the case, we have mass immigration greatly growing western populations. Here in America we are growing our population 3 million a year or a 1% annual increase. From a climate change position this is an unmitigated disaster. If the people who believe in climate change really believed they would be dead set against immigration to western countries and consider it a blessing western pops are in decline. Western countries are energy intensive and resource consuming. It is those countries who's populations need to decline. @@kimwarburton8490
