The first year I started dating my girlfriend (now fiancee, soon wife) I bought the full OST to the .Hack series at Otakon. We lived pretty far apart but I still decided to walk to her house one day that first summer. Took me almost three hours but I listened to this OST on loop the whole way so I didnt mind. This song in particular reminds me of shining summer days and of traveling to see her.
Those tiny moments are so rich to us... that's so pure. i'm grateful either for you to share this with us, thank you and i wish just peace and happiness to both of you!

There was something magical about this game, I think it was how original the story was, and how distinct the characters were, it just pulled me into that world. I love it, and I still play it to this day.
I can Definitely explain why because it’s a journey to save your friends question the meaning of life as it is ascends in the future with AI and self-aware technology But then, when you’re at it at the end, especially you start to question everything you don’t see everything you don’t know, and how life is even more grand than anything you could ever imagine, or the smartest human being could ever imagine. And I can definitely approve of that because this will always be the greatest game that I’ve ever played and it just goes to show you that the greatest games that most people never hear of all time the games that aren’t usually the most popular somebody out there made something so incredible that it wasn’t just that they made what they did, but they just put a lot of time and effort into their heart mind and soul and then this is what happens.

I remember this and Ace Combat 04 were the first two games I got for my PS2 when I was a teenager back in '04. I remember just aimlessly wandering Mac Anu just to take in this music and just chill quite often.
I have never played any actual MMOs in my life. Yet, I still feel like Mac Anu perfectly captures the feeling that any new player feels upon arriving to the firsr hub area on an MMO. The fact that the NPCs are fellow players, really made me feel like I was in Kite's shoes interacting with players from all over the (real) world.
having played mmo's my whole childhood and not getting to play this untill just this week, i'd have to agree it's very much an authentic feeling, really sells it with the character writing for your companions too! feels like im going on late night dungeon runs with online friends, juss grinding up them lvls.
@@dropdedgothish I am specially amused how some NPC have dialogue mentioning having to deal with slow internet connections and the like. Which causes their dialogue to appear REALLY slowly.

Just a tiny fun fact, this song seems to have a very good pattern for someone with ADHD to be able to focus. I used this song in my teenhood to study and read things I wasn't interested in, and even now I still use it when I have to do something that my mind would never focus on. The more you know.

This was many people’s first tastes at an MMO before MMOS became widely available to the average person. It wasn’t until years later when games like RuneScape and world of Warcraft came out that it became a reality. .Hack captured the imagination of what gaming would be one day, and I still hope VR will give us something close one day.
Runescape was out for over a year before Infection released, but ye. These games are special. They're a very large reason of why I became a dev (Right up there with Runescape and Lunar 1 & 2)

It's a wonder they dont. bandai namco stands to make a ton of money if they remastred more games from their past. We've been asking for this series alone for years. If they do remaster it, I'd say it'll be all 4 infection games condensed into one. technology since the ps2 era has come far enough to accommodate it.

There were many mmo's modeled after The World. I helped work on dungeons for one. iirc the group and site head guy had was called childrenofthetwilight or something similar, and idk if there was ever a name for it since we were straight up calling it The World in project files. Anyways like all the other fanmades it got hit with the blanket cease and desist, and that was the end of that. Huh... Looking back on it, that's what got me into 3d modeling. I was in middle school I think. Very nostalgic. Thanks for reminding me of better days.
I don't know how The World isn't a functional MMORPG in the States. The developers gave us the framework we needed and we wasted it doing things like watching porn and making sexbots. *shakes head in a disappointed fashion* No wonder Elon is trying to get us into space, now. He's tired of us playing the parts of dumb monkeys and dirty apes.
