  • In this tutorial I show how you can stamp an image onto tissue paper or deli paper using stazon ink and ranger archival ink. I bake the first time for 30 minutes and then I bake again to help set the inks I use to colour in the image with, usually for another 30 minutes.

    I just love this- a fantastic progression of ideas! They would look so good with a glossy finish like Kato Clay- just like a ceramic tile

      Patricia Roberts-Thompson, thank you and yes I totally agree, love the experimenting, I think I'm going to try and do some with napkins and some like this as I have a gorgeous box I want to cover as a keepsake.

    Great video Tracey. I have stamped onto clay before but this eliminates the indentations so I am off to search my thousands of stamps (literally) lol. I also have some gorgeous napkins arriving this week to try Patricia's great demo . Oh and liquid clay is arriving . More hours in the week required !!!

      Karen Evans, thank you, yes that was the issue I had with using stamps onto raw clay, ok on baked clay as you can use stazon ink but this gives you the choice, baked or not. Have fun!

    OH OH OH - this is great - I loved the way the deli paper just slid right off. this is going on my to- try! I love to doodle and will try directly on parchment paper (which is what i use for deli paper). Not sure micron pens will transfer but curious just the same. I have never been totally satisfied with transfers i make using a laser printer and have tried many ways to rub the paper off. Thanks Tay!

    Lovely, such a great tutorial. I have a couple of questions though. Could this be done by stamping without the ink directly onto the clay to make an impression and then paint over it after it is baked? Also do these have to be sealed with a varnish or something like a gloss like glossy accents, or could it be used with a uv resin on top, or would that ruin the clay? Thanks for all your advice. I'm fairly new to crafting, sorry for all the dumb questions that I'm sure everyone knows already. Again gr8 video, thank you so much!

      I am wondering the same thing about stamping directly on the clay

    • @tjaysilver

      Theresa Fugate, thank you for watching, I have stamped directly onto clay with and without ink but you have to be very careful if you don't want to make an impression, you can also, with stazon ink and archival ink, stamp directly onto baked clay. As for sealing once baked it's up to you really, I did put one coat of Americana gloss varnish but I may also try some with Kato liquid, check out Debbie Carothers tutorial on this, or you can also use a spray varnish like PYMII. Hope this helps.

      Theresa Fugate, you can check out Teresa Pandora Salgado for the blanks for the cuff bracelets, a couple of the cuffs I wear are actually made by Teresa and some by me. Also check www.tinypandora.com ruclips.net/video/_EldIro8gNA/видео.html

    Why not stamp the clay directly? Does that effect it differently?

    • @tjaysilver
      @tjaysilver  5 лет назад +1

      Trinity, thank you for watching. You can stamp directly on to the clay if you want but I found if I wanted to use the stazon I couldn't us a release like water to stop the stamp from sticking to the clay.

    Thanks...Nice tutorial that opens up a lot of possibilities for my massive stamp collection. Question: how do you trim once it's baked?

      Eileen Gavin Larsen, Firstly thank you for watching. With the one I did in the video I left as the squares so I could make tiles. If I wanted to get a shape then I would try to cut around the image before baking.

    Wonderful video! Thanks for posting it. What brush (size, type, brand) did you use to paint with?

    • @tjaysilver
      @tjaysilver  7 лет назад

      dynsh, thank you, the brush came in a pack with about 10 others of all different sizes, very cheap, just a fine tip brush with nylon bristles.

    Did you bake clay with paper?

    • @tjaysilver
      @tjaysilver  7 лет назад

      Saša S. yes the paper was baked on the clay, I baked for 30 minutes then I removed the paper when cooled and applied colour then baked again for another 30 minutes.

      And I am in the Ribble Valley and feeling quite confused. Your video is great but can you clear up Americanisms and UKisms. Is parchment paper our greaseproof or baking parchment? is Deli paper our greaseproof or totally different and where can it be bought from? I bought some Deli sheets from Clayaround and it looks different to the Deli sheet you are using. Aaaaaand the tissue paper is it proper standard use for wrapping delicate gifts tissue paper or something new? Thanks in confused anticipation!!!!! xx

    • @tjaysilver
      @tjaysilver  7 лет назад

      Isla Haworth, yes the tissue paper is just the same as the paper,you can wrap gifts in, the deli paper,I got from the US when I was over there but you can get baking sheets, I believe, from place like Lakeland and it works the same. I have also used grease proof paper but I leave a piece under a book for a while because it comes on a roll it's not initially easy to use. Hope this helps.

    Can it be varnished after

    • @tjaysilver
      @tjaysilver  6 лет назад

      Lisa Jarvis, it can be varnished, you just need to apply it carefully if using mica powder as it can 'move' the mica but you could also use a spray varnish, here in the UK at a shop called Lidl every now and then they have a product called 'Baufix' it's a spray and they do a silk matt and gloss finish, I did an extensive test on it and it works great and cheap too. There is another product that I believe you can get in USA, it's name begins with a K and the best place to look for info on it is 'The blue bottle tree' as Ginger Davis Allman does a lot of testing of products as does Cindy Lietz, the polymer clay tutor, check out her videos too.
