@humbleservantshomestead7974 we were getting 3/4 of a gallon per milking so 1.5 gallons a day at her peak. We eventually cut her back to just 1 milking a day. Last year she had triplets.
Looks so easy, but my goat doesn't let down her milk when I'm trying to milk her. Is it my inexperience or it's her character? Did you have a goat which you can't milk because she was holding her milk? Thank you.
Not every goat or cow is a dairy animal in their heart. I’m sorry you and your goat have different feelings about milking! There are some things you can try to get her on board. First, I like all my does to learn that the milkstand is a fun place where they get treats. It’s best to start before they kid but you can do this anytime. After the kids are 2 weeks old they can be separated from mom at night. Then you can milk her before reuniting them in the am. Next, I’d try a milking machine if you’re able. I started with a $200 one from Amazon that does well and is small enough I can take it into the house to deep clean. Then you can rule out your inexperience. You can brush and spoil her while she’s hooked up to the machine. Third, don’t give up! Keep trying! I’d try every day for a week. If it’s still no better, move on and just enjoy your doe as an excellent mother.
Tried the machine and it couldn't latch on the teats. Tried by hand again but longer and more persistent this time trying to imitate how it was shown in milking videos, and after awhile I've got my first squirts of milk! :) Was very excited, but my goat was mad at me, so will need to get her used to this procedure. Before I was just giving extra grain to goats wherever they like, now - only while milking.
We feed a nice quality hay that has about 40% alfalfa free choice and about half a cup of Kalmbach Meat and Milk pellets twice daily. On the milk stand she gets about 2 cups of the Kalmbach pellets and 2 cups of sweet feed and 1/4 cup of sunflower seeds. I usually like to mix in alfalfa pellets on the milk stand but this doe always picks them out and refuses to eat them.
Kelsey was milking her twice a day for awhile and getting a gallon and a half a day. She now mills her once a day and was giving almost a gallon. She has slowed down and gives about a half gallon a day.
@@SweetBriarFarmMichigan 1 US gallon is 3.7 litres as Google says. Which means this goat produced 5.5 litres of milk every day. That is very impressive. Thanks for the answer. I love to know about different breeds of goats. I also admire how you take care of your goats.
@@AmitUP-tp2kw we milked our fainting goat this evening they have really high butter fat since they are more of a meat breed. She gave us a quart of milk which is about 1 liter. We will have a video comparing the Nubian and fainting goat milk soon!
@@SweetBriarFarmMichigan That is a very good topic for the video. Some popular breeds in my country are - barbari goat, sirohi goat, beetal goat. Beetal Goat is queen of goats in indian subcontinent. Some male beetal goats go up to 250 kg.
Wildee said “ Hold my beer 🍺 let me show yall how to kid “ 😂😂😂 great job 👏🏾
❤❤❤
Many years of milking moms goats, now with 6$ milk I'm looking for a goat again. This is crazy world. Keep it cold just like 2%.
Yes, the temperature makes such a difference in the flavor of milk. We get it into an ice bath pronto.
Holy! She has a nice bag there! My current in milk is 1/2 the bag size 😮
Fawn is a beauty!
She is a wonderful doe, I’m very grateful to her breeder!
Her udder is beautiful. How much milk do you get from 1 milking?

Best milk ever!!!

Many years a proud husband
How long you been milking your goats
They are dried off now. We milk them through the summer and usually stop when everyone goes back to school.
Looks so hard to do but pretty easy
