Oh how lovely a Tyranid story, I feel as if the actual stories don’t live up to the “buggyness” of the true horrors they bring. I feel this one was perfect as from an inquisitive child’s perspective it takes you back to your younger days of “I wish I’d never opened that door” the fear his father has but refuses to show because he can’t break in front of his son who idolises him... the fear that’s spreading across the entirety of the planet with little to no hope as yes the Astropath got a message out, but lots of times those messages go unheard for years. And then it arrives... That is why this is a 10/10 top teir Tyranid story
This story has many layers of Lovecraftian elements to this, and once more you outdone yourself in showing the horrors of the Grim Darkness of the Future.
Earth, just another long forgotten boarder world lost to warp. Lost to all hope, lost to its people's own nightmares. Horror? Nah, it is so much worse than that- Hopelessness
do they truly deserve it though? can an animal be faulted for killing off of instinct? can a being that only exists to serve a purpose be blamed for doing so in whatever way it deems most effective? do the monsters deserve to die simply for what they are and what being that means?

It knew neither malice, nor mercy.
Bone chilling truth.
Though as we've learned in more recent Nids lore over the past couple years, that isn't entirely true ;)

The epilogue and inferences of humanities inferiority and by extension, the emperor's lies, was WELL done
It really is the best part.
Out of all the factions in the 40k universe to possibly fight against, the Tyranids always feel like any attempt to do so would be completely futile.
Fighting every faction as a Frontline human is hopeless. The only one you possibly have a chance of surviving is the Ork.
