It just makes absolute logistical sense. The Feddies were way behind Zeon on mobile suit resources. Way outnumbered. It makes all the sense in the world to supplement your forces with captured enemy equipment. The Germans and Soviets both did this extensively with tanks in WWII. The British did it in North Africa.
@@GP01Zephy217 Which is more justified by Zeon's heavy resource losses toward the end of the war, less likely to be seen nearly as extensively though given the comparatively short window of GM deployment before the war ended.
I actually prefer this Zaku's head over the other Zakus. The thinner looking mono eye slit makes it look like the Zaku is squinting, making it look meaner than the other Zakus.
This one was actually my first gunpla. was an absolutely enjoyable build and I don't think I could have picked a better entry point into the hobby. The first time I built the pelvis I put a part in rwrong and accidentally manhandled it to pull it apart and broke the peg. I freaked out bought a secondm then with assistance from a very sharp knife pulled the peg out of the whole and finished the build. Lesson learned that a broke peg is not enough to ruin a build. And that second zaku sits in my backlog to this day
Entry level? I had already put together Thirty or forty of these kits before I got to this guy and I still thoroughly enjoyed the build. It was still unique and fresh. I recommend that you get the Gundam build Fighters zaku F2000 but stick mostly to the base kit. Just use the instructions you already have except for a few of the extra armor bit and weapons and you will make a very customized looking custom zaku ii that you can pretend as your own custom Ace unit. It's this really pretty purpley color too so it will really stand out on your shelf. That being said, since you have a whole extra box with extra zaku 2 F2 Parts in it, why don't you give your built model a couple extra ammo packs and another set of grenades. You're going to need a little bit of liquid cement or superglue. I used a lighter to slightly melt the little Peg on the extra ammo and grenades and pressed it into the little tabs so it expanded and filled the space nicely then after that I put a drop of adhesive into the little port on his side skirts and voila permanently fixed. That way it won't fall off and get lost when you're playing with it and posing him.
This is legitimately one of my favorite HGUC kits. It's just so cool, Zakus being used as aggressors for peacetime training, it's really solid and posable while never feeling flimsy, it has a decent number of accessories, and it looks so good with very little effort
I remember going over Sentinel 0079 and realizing that the Zaku F2 from 0083 originally was a zaku 2f redesign from katoki years before 0083 came out. Sunrise liked his work so much that a lot of his redesigns got made into new models when 0083 came out.
Gunpla was a hobby I got burnt out on some years ago. Not wholly as I'd buy a kit here or there (normally 2 a year at the most), though after watching Zak's livestream of the build and custom paint job of the HGUC ReZel I got back into it.
0083 was my introduction to Gundam. I've never built a Gunpla despite following this channel for years. If I were to try it, I would want to make Zaku with a similar color scheme as this but closer to tan than white.
On the older zakus double shoulder spikes would look ridiculous and cartoonish. I would recommend the origin kits. One of the kits is supposed to have to shoulder Shields which means you're going to have some extra spiky shoulders. So the guy that supposed to have a giant axe has two spiky shoulders on my display and their proportional and look cool. But if you want a zaku that looks like he's wearing football pads then go ahead and do what you were thinking
I loved this kit when I first built it, I wish it got as much love as it’s successors. It’s also an awesome kit for it’s two machine guns (I used it’s spare Zaku machine gun with grenade launcher on my HG:Origin MS-06c Zaku 2)
Ummm zaku F2000? It's one of the Gundam build kits but it's amazing if you just wanted a customized looking zaku 2. Just use your original instructions except on whatever it is you want to change. It's very customizable
@@scottsanders4589 You mean the one variant that never gets reprinted? Yeah I know about it, can’t really talk about a kit that isn’t available, though I was planning to build a purple standard kit so that I could get a awesome variant and then use the remaining parts on the HG Gouf Custom that’s compatible with it
i think most zaku manuals show the heat hawk being attached that way is becaus Zaku's usally grab the heat hawk with the left arm, and it would be easier to reach the handle with that arm if it was positioned behind it like it is. personally i prefer to attach it across the butt, handle on the left side, for the same reason
I just now realized that probably the reason we haven't got "revive" versions of the GP01 and GP01Fb was because their RG counterparts were already in development. Anyone else thinks the same?
Disagree, it does everything it needs to do just fine from the waist up... not getting any crouches out of this guy but he is still very well-balanced. Although I can get the revive and the origin kits to do yoga
A pretty simple kit, but it looks fantastic. I took a break from gunpla and haven’t built in almost a year. This video may have me inspired me to get back into building! 👌 Great review, as always!
One of my favorite Zaku II HG. It's so nice I bought twice, both Zeon and EFSF versions. The one that eludes me is the F2000 Gunpla builders version, same mold but in purple.
@@suicide19915 Yes, the Super Custom Zaku F2000 from the Gunpla Builders. I'm nnot sure if Bandai still produce that line. The F2000 is a like a heavily modified and armored Zaku F2 but if you build it halfway you'll have a purple F2.
The leg rings for the rocketpods actually could make really nice armor upgrades if you shave down the piece that actually plugs the pods on, and just leave the ring around the leg. The cream color really does look nice too, didnt expect that to work but it damn well does. Shame there's no open grenade though, like the MG FZ had with the stick-grip extended :(

the Zaku F2 and Gouf Custom were both designed by Katoki Hajime so if you build both of those HG kits back to back you'll notice alot of similarities in their construction. one cool thing about this kit is that if you remove the drum magazine from the machine gun you'll notice that there is a small box magazine molded into the gun, this is an alternate magazine for firing special anti-aircraft ammunition.
hey Zaku, what is the best way to mix this exact color for the F2 type? I desire to paint ALL the Zeon kits in this exact color scheme (like the RG Sazabi, for example) MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA >:D

I actually like this over the Origin just 'cause of the design and less seem-lines. The sleeker MMP-80 is rad too. Much better than the FZ's oversized machinegun.
My only problem with FZ's machinegun is the magazine. It's too thin, its size would make it a good match with the bigger Zeon mobile suits. I gave mine to a Kampfer and outfitted the FZ with an F2 style zaku machine gun.
Wow my kit looks NOTHING like that. Instead of the off white the suit looks almost tan/flesh colored. Also, the legs, specifically the knee joints are so lose the kit can barely stand up. Finally, the divets on the side and back aren't deep enough to hold the heat hawk, grenades and spare ammo clip. Probably one of the most disappointing kits I've built in recent years.
the EF using Zaku's is like a foreshadowing of the Hi-Zacks used by the Titans.
