Been looking forward to this one ever since seeing the Zaku I video. Zaku II is without a doubt one of my favorite MS and I'm thrilled to see it getting the respect it deserves. Honestly it, the Dom and the Leo are my favorite grunt suits (I'm not counting the Gelgoog since that thing was on par with a Gundam)

char's S type was actually a unique unit in it has the highest acceleration of any one-year war mobile suit mainly cause he had the limiters all removed from the suit.

The MS-06 Zaku ll was my most favorite mobile suit when i was getting into Gundam! Nowadays my favorite Zeon mobile suit is the Efreet, more especifically the MS-08TX/N Efreet Nacth.
I always liked the MS-06G high-mobility ground type Zaku, but it seems to be always overlooked. My favorite MS is a tie between the MS-07A Gouf prototype and almost all the Gelgoog types (specifically the MS-14jg Jager).

Zeon tech is modeled after WW2 German design which was notorious for it's Crippling over specialization. it's a deliberate story element. in universe it also makes it harder for captured units to be deployed against them. after all if you have no parts it's worth fielding.

I honestly like the B-type Zaku 2 kai. I think that looks more intimidating and fits better with the unionized maintenance plan as it looks a whole lot easier to replace.

In Gundam Breaker 3, I upgraded my Zaku II into a Hizack. And evolved my Gouf Custom into a Gouf Ignited. Good MS in that game. The different parts you can combine is kick ass. It allowed me to recreate MS that arnt in the game and make my own custom MS such as my Ultra Gundam.

For the FZ, shorter operation time should only apply to reduced propellant for the thrusters correct? Theoretically it would still be able to function on land or in a colony due to the reactor, just no ability to jump or move in space.
I was waiting for this video to drop harder than the colonies over Australia...fave MS series, and also a badass at times, and this was prior to beam weaponry being introduced to the Zeon units.
I love these videos so much! It's reminiscent of the war and weapon documentaries but I'm oh so fond of! There is a wonderful series called German war files depicting the weapons of the German weapons in World War II. If you like these videos then you should definitely check out that series!
Damn you Kcylia. I liked the shoulder paldrons going on both sides of the mobile suit. I like my symmetry with my designs. I wish more Zaku variants had shoulder paldrons on both sides of the mobile suit.
I will have to say my favorite zaku would have to be the Zaku 2-FZ type. Mainly because of the better performance it had, the weapon arranged meant, and the overall look of the unit. But one thing I am curious about is why didn't some zaku 2 pilots customize their machine to have 2 shields instead of one?

Sniping from behind asteroids/debris or hanging back and harassing enemies while they're a fight forces them to acknowledge you as a threat or sufer for it. The number of times my Zaku Kai has pulled enemy mobile suits, even Gundams, from their assault on my teammates is pretty up there. Bonus points when my teammates then shoot them in the back.
How are Zaku shields supposed to function? If the Zaku is holding its cannon in the right arm (which it usually does), it is the front and the left side that faces the enemy. Unless there is some hidden and unused boom that can relocate the shield to the left side, the shield is dead weight.
You missed the MS-06S type which was used by char at the battle of Lum and most of the OYW , however char's was a step up from this big step up as his had no limiters installed. char earned his name in his zaku II S and this was also likely it was the first HM zaku produced. given its Maximum Acceleration was 0.69G it was slightly faster then the MS-06r-1A which had a Maximum Acceleration of 0.68G
I'd almost be interested to see what people make of the machines from my Gundam novel... Bearing in mind, mainline Armed Forces tended to stick with more traditional Mobile Armours, Mobile Suits were developed by the militaristic wing of Naval Intelligence, while several Generations of Gundam-Class Mobile Suits were developed in secret on, what was generally believed by the masses, an Earth rendered unhibatible by nuclear war, instead living either in giant space colonies or in domed cities on Mars!
