Thanks very much for the video. Just got this same mower, used, and am going through the maintenance before it goes with me to service properties out in the Fraser Valley. I might look into getting one of those oil drain hoses but for now your step by step process shows it's not too difficult. Cheers!
@LawnCareBusinessSuccess, how often do you recommend changing the oil in these Exmark Commercial 30 lawn mowers? And same question but for the oil filters? How many total hours?
I guess it depends on how much you use it. I don’t know the actual hours but I would only change the oil and filter on mine once per season and I used it as the main mower in my business. Years ago I use to change the oil in my small mowers once per week but I found that to be unnecessary. I do check the oil often though. Thanks for watching.
Finally got around to watching this. I tilt my 30 over on its side like you did but I must like having a higher sketch factor and I use one hand to hold the oil pan up under the oil filler (so I don't spill and make a mess on my driveway). As the flow gets going I'm able to set the pan on the ground and use both hands to guide and support the mower. As for the oil filter, fortunately my hand is skinny enough to reach in and grab the filter and loosen it. I'm going to have to pick up a strap wrench not only to make this easier but for the other uses it has as well. Julio, I hope you have a great start to the mowing season. Down here in NC I'm about a month in already. Looking forward to more videos from you this year!
Well I used a electric oil extraction pump on mine. Thing is so heavy I just don’t like trying to tip it on the side. You stick hose in oil filler tube and suck it out. Hurts my back trying to tip it over and I am afraid of dropping it
Haven't done a oil change on my commercial 30" yet with the Kohler but looks a lot more simple then the kawi great information filled video sure to help a lot of people out, BTW how often do you Sharpen the blades on you 30"
Yes the Kohler would be easier with the drain hose that comes standard on Kohlers. Sharpening depends on the lawns and conditions. At a minimum once a week. Some years I have replaced the blades daily. Thanks for watching.
Love your videos you're doing a great job. Just a heads up small air cooled engines require specific small engine oil. Small engine oil is fortified with zinc and phosphorus to to help in high heat situations and premature wear on valve train, cylinder/rings and rod/bearings. These additives are also for longevity of service. Automotive grade oil do not have any of those additives due to the fact they have catalytic converters that would get plugged up by these additives. I've been an engine builder and mechanic for over 18 years just a little background on me. Save your equipment and run the correct oil
Thanks for the tip. I’ve always just used automotive oil and never had an issue the past 17 years. Probably because I’m in the pacific north west and it doesn’t get too hot here even in summer. Usually we get hot spells that last a few weeks at most in august or july. Thanks for watching.
Julio, it is good to see ya back on RUclips sharing insightful tips as always. If I recall correctly, you provided a solid review of the Apple Air Pods you use for landscaping. Last season I was looking for wireless headphones because the Dewalt bluetooth headphones that I was using were absolute junk. Lousy connectivity, sound, comfort, and duality, so after purchasing two pairs of the Dewalt headphones I needed a replacement that would deliver superior quality performance. Bro, I couldn't find any other suitable headphones that provided all of the features I wanted, until I considered the Apple Air Pods Max. I purchased Apple Air Pods Max and have been completely satisfied with their performance in every aspect. Noise cancellation/transparency mode✓, connectivity✓, sound quality/volume control✓, comfort✓, ear protection✓. Although the Air Pods Max are quite expensive, it has been well worth it and has provided its overall value immediately in suiting my work needs. All-in-all I recommend the Apple Air Pods Max for Apple iPhone users working in this industry that may want to upgrade/enhance their audio listening as well as making efforts to protect their hearing from loud noise. Much respect to you Julio!
I actually am not going to use the AirPods anymore. As I stated in that video they are not actually rated or considered as hearing protection and may give you false sense of protection. Apple being the marketing machine that they are would definitely boast that as a feature if it were so. I am not going to use them anymore because I believe I actually may have experienced some hearing loss after using them for a few months. So I will be going back the isoTunes link over the ear style muffs for this season. Thanks for watching.
I have an oil drain hose connected to the drain hole that lets me drain with less mess. Also I don’t have to tip it to draiin. The filter almost always makes a mess though.
Yes some guys have added a drain hose to the Kawasaki models. The models that have the Kohler engine come with the drain hose standard from Kohler. Thanks for watching.
Yes and that is done on purpose. I do lots of long term equipment reviews. I made the decision a few years ago to maintain equipment very minimally and to only use regular fuel. Basically the bare minimum. That way people can see how much of a beating the equipment can take in real world scenarios. If it lasts and performs for me then it should be no issue for someone who does lots of maintenance.
I'm gonna stop here in the video as you are tipping it on its side. Go to your dealer and tell them you want the oil drain hose the Lazer z uses. Lazer z with a Kawasaki the hose is perfect for the commercial 30. I figured this out one day when I was changing the oil in my Lazer.
Yes I believe the threads are standard on the kawasakis and the drain hose fits many motors. I’ll grab one and do an install on the next oil change. Thanks for watching.
Let me know in the comments below if you have any tips to share on doing an oil change on the Exmark commercial 30.
Thank you
Glad you found value in the video. Thanks for watching.

The higher sketch factor comment made me laugh. I can just imagine. 😂 I hope you have a great season as well. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it.
@@LawnCareBusinessSuccess I enjoy your videos very much. Keep up the great work with your business and bringing great content.

Yes I can see by looking at it that it is very poorly maintained

@@LawnCareBusinessSuccess it's well worth the upgrade. Saves a pile of time doing service.
You have a part number on that by any chance?
@@livinnash7693 the tag may still be on the hose I will check if not just tell your dealer you want the drain hose for a Lazer z.
@@Orefamilylawncare I believe I found it. Thanx so much my friend and stay safe👊🏻
Should be using a 4 cycle oil not automotive oil.
This what I love RUclips, even if the video is wrong... or just dodgy, the comment section will point it out.
