GW2 in 6 months have dropped 100,000 active players. It is a dying game. I can't believe it's going to 60k players active all the time verses 250k in this last year. I remember 6 years ago the drop from 400k to 350k active all the time. but 60k.... Such a great game. Wish they focused on advertising now its just what many mmos come down to in the end.. the milking.
It's great seeing new players enjoying GW2. As a advice I say, if you one day feel like you're not progressing or stuck: Look at the achievement panel and begin doing collections. A Lot of them give nice rewards like ascended gear. Also, buy Copper salvage-o-matic. It's the only 'mandatory' thing to have to not lose your sanity by constantly buying salvage kits. Put it on the shared inventory slot if you have one.
@@NewbWorld Keep in mind that the Legendary grind takes a long, long time for each item. My advice is to take it slow, chip away a little at a time and find out what you need before you actually need it as you can start collecting/doing a lot of things prior to making the Legendary item. For example, the Legendary Ring Aurora requires the completion of an achievement that's time-gated to take 16 days. You can do it before you make Aurora though making that time-gate null and void.
Me and a friend started playing this week. Long story short...I'm hooked. We saw the wings in dragon bash! We have 5 days to get them. The grind began. Me and him bought the first 3 expansions yesterday. Wake up this morning and find out his account has been locked down for security reasons. Did a Google search. Problem that existed for many years. Mostly random occurrence. Most ppl got it resolved after weeks of emails. I don't believe my friend is getting his wings no more and lemme tell you... we're having fun with this game so far but this has most definitely ruined both of our experiences with this game. Sucked the wind right out the sails. The universe said "shame on you, Elden Ring DLC drops and you're playing GW2? HOLD MY BEER!"
😂 Man, that's hella unlucky. This does feel like the kind of game that would be awesome with a friend though. Hopefully he get's the issue resolved fast.
@@NewbWorld In addition to the xpacs, to get the full story you also need the Living World seasons. All Legendaries, save for the Envoy Armor and the Aurene g3 weapons are locked behind a Living World season. For example, all the g1 Legendary Weapons require access to LW s2 since you'll need two account-bound currencies that can only be gotten there.
I know I’ve already made some comments, but I wanted to throw out some additional advice. Ask in mapchat if you need help in general or with something specific. Someone is likely to help you if you give it a minute. If someone offers a slot in their home instance, jump on it. This is an invaluable boost in materials and currencies for upcoming story and festivals. Alternatively it is a good start for making gold. Be sure you have orichalcum tools before you go in. Gather every resource you come across, specifically trees and metals. You will need butt-loads of them (other than copper and green wood) throughout all your crafting. Make absolutely sure that your exotic (orange) weapons are not precursors for legendary weapons. There is text that will tell you that it’s used for a specific weapon. And don’t throw out random non-junk items in your inventory until you’ve checked they aren’t used for anything. Some of those items are a pain to get again.
@@NewbWorld Lol, I do apologize for the info-dump. I just want people to have the best chance to get ahead when they're just starting out. As to home instance/player housing: Outside of the occasional story mission, your home instance is a place where purchased resource nodes are placed for you to harvest once per day and are refreshed at reset. A full home instance is extremely valuable in that every resource node (festival, LW, Black Lion, and crafting) is present. It represents a huge amount of time, gold and actual money invested and takes no less than a year to complete. Outside of that however, it holds little value since it can't be changed. The upcoming player home as I understand it will have not only the resource nodes, but also the ability to decorate it in a similar way to guildhalls. Needless to say, players are very excited about this.
@@NewbWorld At this point, your legacy home instance is the F2P one. All the nodes, no customization. The new "home instance" enables you to build from a wide array of components (chairs, walls, plants, etc..) to customize a large instance that you may invite others to join and check out.
Thanks m8, yea, I am thinking about maybe putting 10 hours into BDO, ESO, GW2 (done), and Classic WoW (since I never played WoW), and then decide which game I want to stick with, so I make the right choice. The action combat was a massive plus though, I don't really know how I will do with a tab target game, it's been so long. 😂
@@NewbWorld Ten hours isn’t enough time to make a good decision, but if you really hate the game after ten hours, you probably won’t change your opinion after thirty hours. Just know that GW2 gets so much better after the base game, and the first two expansions plus the Living World seasons 3 and 4, are the best part of the game. Edit: I made the comment above before I finished watching the video. I can see that you are hooked now and you will be playing GW2 for many more months, if not many years to come. For me, it’s the best game available even though it has a few faults and I wish it was more popular, so the studio could hire more developers and create more content at a faster pace. There’s nothing like that feeling you have when you accidentally find your first world boss fight, just by walking over a hill. Specially if you didn’t know before hand that such fights were a thing in the game. I hope that you didn’t do too much research into the game, so there are still hundreds of surprises for you to find on your own.
@@traveling.down.the.road56 Yea, for me, the 10 hours thing is just more to get a feeling of which games still had me feeling like I want more after 10 hours, and then with some research, which end game will suit my play style the most. I want to find a game to sink thousands of hours into, and I want to make sure it's the best possible option. I also like documenting it as well, so I can get a feel for the community around the game, as that's big for me too. When I put out a New World video right now, the comment section is filled with toxicity. The same for Destiny 2, if I questioned anything, or got something wrong, I was slaughtered in the comments. I like how the GW2 player base is very positive, I hear the same about the FF community too. That's big for me. It's probably a reason I won't end up getting into WoW, I hear they can get a bit crazy. xD
@@NewbWorld I can’t answer for the FFXIV community, because I don’t want to play anything that has a subscription fee, but from your initial reaction, I think you’re going to be playing GW2 for that thousands of hours you are looking for.
It's not good? I was planning on doing 10 hours of GW2, BDO, ESO, Throne, and maybe some version of WoW, before making my final decision on which game I want to go hard on. I played BDO on console, but never got into it, I think it felt weird on controller, thought maybe giving it a chance on PC would change my mind on it.
@@NewbWorld BDO just dont scratch the itch, feels choking at some time and is also very tiring... GW2 gives me freedom and immersion especially in open world, GW2's mount system is also the best for me.
@@NewbWorld BDO looks very skill based, its not as high a skill ceiling as it looks from the flashy moves. Gear plays an important part by design. The grind for best gear is insane to make you spend money too. There is a lot of good about it though, and if only a 10 hour dive, you'll enjoy it!
NW player here as well. I started playing GW2 the first summer NW had a player dip thinking NW would die out before brim was announced. It's a very complex game with a great MSQ and story line in the expansions. I have a character I play just to do MSQ/Story content, but also play pvp with other characters. That being said the new player areas look a little dated I think Asura and Norn work out better graphically, but as you progress to other zones they're more up to date with better shaders etc. Also with the DX11 update the devs will made some shader passes to bring some areas up as they have time to do so. However I've never let the look of a world hold me back unless it's like EQ level lol. Game is absolutely fun, has similar battle mechanics as new world if you enable action camera mode, dodge works similarly. Dont sleep on Necro for PVP :)
Yea, the graphical downgrade took a bit to get used to, but it's something I can get over. I played a ton of OSRS. 😂 I've been sticking around the newb zones, so haven't experience any of the later zones, will be interesting to see. The start to my personal story wasn't anything too gripping yet, but I heard it gets better later on, so I guess I gotta just push through the initial few missions that just feel like character introductions. I only gave up on my necro because I didn't like the look of it's basic attack. 😂
Welcome to Tyria! Another benefit of the horizontal progression system, the old content is still relative, even if just for something fun to do to break things up. This also means any new players are not needing to skip it to "catch up" to the vets. Its a wonderful system. And then theres the scaling system so you can play with friends that are more casual or more hardcore. And then theres the.....oh wait let me keep this from becoming a wall of text...too many things to gush about over this game.
man, that IBS cutscene with Rytlock and Jhavi still gives me goosebumps. you got everything pretty much on point - the best thing about GW 2 is, "grind" is not mandatory at all. It's there in different areas for different things for people who want it, but only as a niche segment. Even for legendaries, you will easily have enough to get a couple done before long with NO grind, just by playing the game. Good Anise call out as well - the story and lore are actually pretty deep from race to race and beyond with the expansions.
I'm looking forward to the later content, everyone's saying the later zones and story gets a lot better graphically and narratively. The graphics were really the only complaint I'd have with GW2, it feels a bit dated. If they did a GW3 with like unreal engine, man, that could be my forever game. 😂
@@NewbWorld yeah the vanilla zones do feel a bit dated by now, and it does get better with later maps - although if you get the right angle you could screenshot a vanilla map and it'd look like from a game made this year... the landscaping is terrific, mostly old props and buildings are low-poly so yeah. Also the story after lv 80 ditches that dialogue-cutscene style for on-the-fly voiced lines that feel more organic and dynamic. The VFX and animations I think are pretty good, only in a watercolor kind of style that I know isn't for everyone. Your wishes may come true with the sequel on UE-5 (we know for sure the studio is working on something with that engine) but even so it may be a few years away still.
Been playing for 7 months now and can only recommend it. You just have to find out what you want to do first and set yourself a path. Then its very enjoyable to play. I would also recommend buying the living world seasons. They add alot of story that give the main story more depth. Season 4 was the best of them in my opinion.
Yea, I am very much a goal oriented MMO player, love playing through the map completion, wish it was possible to get mounts a bit earlier on without DLC to help with that though.

Unless you plan on doing fractals getting full ascd. really isn't necessary esp. if you plan on making legendary after anyways. Exotics will get you through all other content. You only need ascd. for fractals because they require a special gear attachment called agony resistance which cannot be slotted into exotics.
Played Wow for years and even spent a good amout of time in Rift (I know). I've been out of gaming for a few years and now I'm looking for a main. GW2 is currently at the top of my short list, but I'm struggling with the mount situation, or at least how I perceive it to be considering I've never played.
My parents would never pay a sub fee for me, so I got into Rift as well. 😂 I remember it being fun, and one of the first to do those open world rift events. Why are you struggling with the mounts? From what I hear from everyone, the mounts are the best in the industry, and from what I felt with the raptor, I feel like they're not lying. I think you'll love the mounts in the game.
One of the Greatest things about GW2 is how easy it is to take a break from the game. Because Level 80 is the cap, and the gear doesnt get statistically better than Ascended, youll find your account waiting and ready for content when you get back from doing / playing something else.
Yea, more games need to do that. Breaks from MMOs are very healthy, and prevents players from getting burnt out, and eventually hating the game they play. Too many games you don't want to come back to and try again because you know all your previous progress will be useless, and you have no idea where to start off again.
@@NewbWorld the game is not really that enjoyable, its just about collecting farming etc after cap and then gear, pfftch, then repeating dailys that burns you out quickly, for someone whos been on that game for years i know someone on that game, their told me this, after awhile i saw.
As silly as it is the 8-bit Raptor is canon. It's part of an event that happens every April called the Super Adventure Box. SAB is canon, it really does happen and is fully diegetic with the world.
That one I got the footage of doesn't look too bad, but when I was in the starting zone, I saw one, that was just straight blue pixels, and not gunna lie, I was like wtf is that. 😂
My main problem with GW2 is that I have characters created back in Beta taking all the slots. Logging back in after so many years is so overwhelming, there is just too much happening on the screen. And there are no slots to create a new character from scratch because those are limited :(
I gotta give FF a real go. I tried once, but gave up really fast. Wasn't really feeling the graphics, and the intro people weren't voice overed, but I always hear good things about it, so I should have pushed through a little further.
@@NewbWorld FF has a steep entry imo not because it's hard, but because the original questing is a slog. It's true that you have to truck through it to get to the core of the matter, but it's easy 40 to 50 hours you have to survive through :)

Yea, it was a blast. I saw some rumors of GW3 being a possibility when I was looking online, that would be something that I would love to check out. The only downside I had when playing is that I felt the graphics were a bit dated (perfectly understandable for a 10 year old game), so if they put out GW3, with graphics on par with games like New World, that would be amazing. Would feel bad for all the lost progress for the players tho.
yeah there's rumors of gw3 development, but I think that we will not see anything for at least 3-5 years...fortunately the did a decent job for players that played both GW1 and GW2, so at least we can expect that some things will be brought over, at least as unique skins 😊 guess we'll see!
@@NewbWorld true, the personal story for the vanilla game looks its age but it gets better. some parts of the game are older than 12yrs. ANet developed its own game engine back in the late 2000s (starting to code them in 2007). last year or so they updated parts of it and DirectX11 is now standard. nowadays, particle clutter is starting to overwhelm some players visually.
I came from New World as well. New World was my first MMO, but damn GW2 is just the best MMO for me, didn't regret abandoning New World for it, it's as if my time is not wasted playing this game.

@@NewbWorld good opportunities mostly arrive at the game's birthday (initial release) around end of August or during Halloween and Christmas. however, don't expect the latest expansion to be on sale. the others up until _End of Dragons_ are fair game

Hello I’ve never played an mmo but I’ve been thinking about guild wars 2 it looks the most fun I just got my first computer but I’m lost on what to do. If anyone has any advice or can help please let me know?
I think you'll enjoy it. Advice on what to do? I'd say just go in and start with zone completion, just helping people around towns, and whenever a main story mission is available, do that as well.
a tip if you haven't worked it out already - its a good idea to NOT assign your auto-attack skill (usually skill 1) to a mouse button, because the autoattack won't work with the mouse. Not sure if you did this or not but from the way you were talking about setting up your skills, it sounded like you might have.
I don't fully understand, but I didn't change the #1 skill. From the start though, I was able to attack with left click (I believe that's my auto attack), maybe that's because I play in action combat though. If I hold down the mouse button it auto attacks for me.
Been playing since beta and the trick to not getting burnout is to play it casually. Take your time and play it the way you want. There are no pressures with item fomo as well. Its how u build your character and how you play is what matters.
I found it funny you going for Elementalist thinking it will be like Mage in other mmos. Great video tbh and always fun seeing new people try the game!
The complexity of Elementalist comes from having to memorize 20 skills for each weapon and how they interact with each other *and* being able to swap between them seamlessly. Playing ele has most commonly been described as “playing piano”. Also getting used to being in down state more often than other professions.
@@NewbWorld There is a Low Intensity build for ele that stays entirely in fire and is extremely effective. The downsides are that the gear is expensive, and you have no skills to break enemy defiance (the blue bar under the health bar on harder enemies). Side note: playing in action cam means if you are holding l-mouse for auto attack, then you can bind auto to another skill. Say, summoning elementals? Just remember you have to do it for each weapon!

Nice. I believe you can play with people of any server at all times, but it's only world vs world where servers get locked. Not sure if Guilds can form across servers though.
@@NewbWorldwvw aside, the only thing you need to concern is NA or EU server. So as long as your friends and you are on the same region, you can make guild together, group up, and play together.
@@NewbWorld but you were correct for now wvw is server based and in future it will be guild , alliance based its in the test phase and periodically they release beta tests of that new system.
I played Guild Wars yrs ago. Ive been looking around for a mmo or live service that has some longevity and a player bas that helps each other. You GW2 is the way to go?
I played over 5000 hours of GW2 this was over 7 years ago when I had far to much time on my hands, I don't play anymore but to this day you will never find a better MMO it has literally everything, fractions, raids, dungeons, massive open world, PVP which was great but got took over with a bot system, but the raids are such a great team effort and you can even measure you're dps using arc dps or atleast you could making ot even more competitive everyone likes to try and hit the benchmark, probably the mmo with the most builds and classes where most do actually have a specific role and job to do, whether support, tank, dps, buff etc best game I've played fantastic!
@NewbWorld yea definately the graphics are outdated but the sad thing is they still have no competition, there hasn't been a mmo that compares to guildwars 2 in my opinion, WoW is even more outdated and that probably takes 2nd spot, imagine having 2 mmos released for over 10 years and still nothing that comes to par seems like they got lazy with the mmos, most mmos release on mobile playstore nowadays lol
I think that there is one great example of why Guild Wars 2 is the game to play: They have never done anything remotely as cringey as telling the player base that they will lose their character names if they don't login every 30 days.... I gave up on NW shortly after I hit max level. Came back to check on my characters after hearing about that insanity and discovered they were all in need of new home servers due to their previous servers being .. merged, empty? Guild Wars 2 has never had this kind of problem, it is so time friendly in that, as you mentioned with the gear progression, you can leave the game for YEARS and come back to something that is immediately playable without catching up. 14k+ hours into Guild Wars 2, still not bored. :)
Oh, and home server only matters for WvW. You can still play with anyone, regardless of their home server. PvE uses the "megaserver" system, where new instances of a map will spawn when the current one becomes full, or despawn (with offer to move you to a new one within 60 minutes) when their population gets too sparse. Never a queue in PvE.
Damn, that's a wild amount of hours. I really hope they make a GW3 though, that would be insane. Like GW2, with their devs, but like New World graphics. For me that would be the ideal game for me.

As a new world player, gw2 is awesome, started in jan when the content lul began and its fantastic. the endgame is massive. Tho i find guilds maybe too odd, I don't get it, Im still very solo in the game. compared to wow where guilds and raids feel easy to get involved, in gw2, Still a loner 6 months in, When I ask they point me to reddit to find ones to ask to join. I mean, i wanna stay ingame or discord at the most. lacks a guild recruitment chat maybe.. that said gw2 isnt perfect, but it truly does have a decade of content and scaling and systems make solo life very fun

@@NewbWorld Eso is great, the melee combat I really dislike but ranged caster was most enjoyable there, 10 hours is a tough cap :P. gw2 10 hours feels hard IMO, classic wow.. which one? :D I've played cata recently, SoD might of died? Cata seems the most active classic right now. IMO, the three will be hard not to sink in 100 hours :D BDO, I've never played so be curious to see. heard combat is good and they are slowly reeling back the p2w elements
@@Tukotaga2024 I always did range in ESO, and enjoyed it. My fav was a ganking bow build. I had no idea WoW had so many version of classic. xD Would have to research. I wanna give BDO a go on PC, cuz I always hear great things, but I only ever tried on console and couldn't get into it there, maybe PC is different.
@@NewbWorld def try cata, one of the best pvp expansions arguable till around dragon soul. also just super fun overall with class design. I have played wow since wotlk expansion. and retail (dragonflight) really just feels like an entirely different game
@@NewbWorldbe prepared, bdo can get very overwhelming at a first touch, even tracking the main quest can get you dizzy, when i did that myself after 3 hours i noticed that i moved from main to side quest and wasted my time 😂, it has the best action combat on the market if you dont pick a boring class on early and has a LOT of systems that you wont even discover in the first 20 hours or even more, also building your workers “empire” which means to accuire workers and feed them so they can work and produce materials which you can use for crafting/cooking etc can make you dizzy so look up for a tutorial
The game is solid its just showing its age and its got to a point where its hard to ignore. I didnt grow up playing it, so trying to play it now with all these modern games just makes it a slog at times for me.
I couldn't have put it better myself. RuneScape I can look past the graphics because it's nostalgic, but I can't really for Guild Wars 2. If they made a Guild Wars 3, with graphics like Throne, I am so in.
Arena Net is the Thing Tank of the Genre! Without GW2 there would be no Dragonflight and certainly no The War Without! Every Feature that is now being implemented in WoW has existed in GW2 for a very, very long time!
Yea, it's a great game. I got too many games to play ATM though with Throne dropping n New World: Aeternum expansion as well. Haven't been on GW in ages.
Gw2 is amazing. It's unfortunate that they have not updated their new player experience, though. The old zones where you start in are from 2012 and very dated.
Yea, tbh that was one thing a bit hard for me, the graphics are a big step down from New World, which I was playing before. Can't hold it against them though, being a 10+ year old game, but if they made a Guild Wars 3, with updated graphics, I think that would be insane.
@NewbWorld yeah it is also quite a bit better in New zones with new armor models. You can really see the difference just between using a new skin for an item or an old one.

I used to play ESO tons on my Xbox and loved it. Cyrodiil was some of the coolest experiences I've had in gaming to date. With ESO I gotta decide if I want to go back on console, or see how it feels on PC. I think PC will feel and look better, plus I can get addons, but I have so many champ points on console, and I think I got some expansions, so I gotta weight it out. 😂
I cant get over the graphics, They were good for their time but they are really bad now. At least for me graphics are a important factor. I wouldn't have a 4090 otherwise.

@@NewbWorld I might also give Once Human a go, dungeon/boss fights look intense as f. But honestly it's all buying time till PoE 2 comes out. I'll grind that thing like there's no tomorrow.
Devs do care, expansion are released yearly, skills are balanced frequently, last expansion came with a new legendary grind, a new weapon sets for each class, next expansion is in a couple of month and will bring housing and another weapon for all classes. Also devs re visit previous content to fix and improve stuff, of course there is always some complains on how often this is done and what they prioritize to fix.
ANet truly has devs who care - a lot. it's not an exaggeration. they listen to the forums and they have put in a ton of _quality of life_ items/mechanics into the game over the years.
i never touch Guild wars 2, never really watch a video too. after watching ur video, i think i will give it a shot a im MMO fan. never give GW2 a chance. new player friendly?
Yea it's great and very new player friendly. Very welcoming community too, so if you ask a question in global chat you'll get help. You'll really enjoy the game. If you do buy the expansions though, I wouldn't use the max level boost until you've gotten at least one character to max level, or it'll really confuse you.
I tried the game a while back, as it's been hard to find something good to play. I'm an MMORPG veteran. However, my experience wasn't amazing. I tried the early game, but it felt really boring and old in a way, perhaps I should give it another try and see how the endgame plays out.
A lot of people tell me graphically it get's a lot better later on, in the more mid to end game zones, so if that's holding you back, maybe try push through. Or try out a different class, some feel more fun than others.
I literally just finished playing about 4 hours of GW2 and have played it off and on for almost 11 years. The game lacks any depth, the story has become excrutiatingly boring (fighting with positive thoughts?!), and I just have to shake my head at how ArenaNet STILL hasn't balanced the classes, updated the gear and max level (seriously it's been level 80 for more than five years, and the devs let it become fashion wars incarnate). It's a game choice if you're a new player to MMOs, but ArenaNet still has overlapping mobs, patrols, and op "guards" that swarm you and kill a solo player in less than 30 seconds. I mean, you have to wear a "filter mask" just to play in zones with story quests?! And you can only have 30 "filters" on you at a time!? Those only last about 20 minutes and then you have travel all the way back to the starting area to buy more. Rediculous! What are they thinking over there in their studio? I know they're trying to shake this "reputation" of being an easy game but ArenaNet doesn't put any thought into HOW they can increase difficulty in a meaningful way. It's an exasperating, juvenile, convoluted, never balanced, and constantly changing (for the worse) game that is free-to-play but charges you ludicriously high prices for nothing but digital, cosmetic items. And 99% of all the loot you get from killing monsters AND completing world events drops nothing but crafting materials! Seriously? I'm in awe of the lack of any meaningful quality to this game. It's just not worth your time or your money imo and, I guarantee you, you'll be tired of it in 6 months or less.
I wouldn't recommend this game for any competitive play. PvE is nice, really relaxed, interesting maps. But PvP is really horrible because it's so unbalanced and some classes have very toxic mechanics which makes it extremely frustrating to go against other players who play them. If you want an MMO with a WoW feel but with better combat and slightly better graphics, this is for you. If you want to PvP, this is going to be a big let down and I would look somewhere else. Bear in mind that the grind in GW2 is insanely frustrating even in PvE. And the story is quite repetitive with the same type of end goal and types of missions and mechanics. Their last expansion was an epic fail, even the devs admitted it. But the game is free for Core maps, there is no subscription so there's that.
Only really experienced PVE myself, and I think I'd say I lean that way more in my overall play, so I can't really give my opinion on the PVP. Been enjoying the PVE so far though.
The thing with Gw2 is that you can take your time and enjoy the world/content, there is absolutely NO need to rush it. You got players on every map doing events/META events etc, and if you like World vs World you will get the materials to get yourself a full Legendary armor set + backpack & rings!
Yea, I like games like that, with the horizontal progression. I can't play crazy hours a week, so it's nice to know the grinds I work for, won't become irrelevant in a few months.
Great video mate. One thing that just doesnt sit well with me is the way you speak. Its not your voice thats bad, but the fact that its clear you read from a script. Im not saying others dont but what i mean is that you read in a very monotone voice kinda like how someone who is uninterested in what they are doing read like. Just a heads up maybe try speaking with more life?
Yea, I've got told that before. I don't know, when I try to add more life to the way I talk, it feels forced and comes out weird, not sure it's any better that way.

the annoying thing about guild wars is the fractals pigeon hole you into only putting agony resistance on all of your gear instead of creative perk choices.
if you want to minmax: there are agony infusions that provide agony plus a bit of stats but since the max you'll get from that is +5 stat per infusion (in total +90, if i didn't miscount), it doesn't really matter that much the only reason you'd have to actually prepare 2 sets of gear would be if you were to minmax both fractals and wvw, since there are similar infusions for wvw which have bonus damage done/less damage take to/from wvw faction npcs anyway. you lose almost nothing from slotting your gear with pure agony resistance, so don't worry about it
@@NewbWorld no, you just run around in your fractal gear (if you love running fractals) wherever you go. the builds for fractals/raids/strike missions don't differ much for most players without niche jobs and any experienced player can run OpenWorld content in their fractal gear. otoh, if you love playing healer in endgame content and struggle in Open PvE then getting exotic gear to do some damage will cost you a pittance nowadays.
@@OGTraeski The good part about the open world is there are activities that pop up and people get together to do them. World bosses and these active quests usually bring lots of people around to play with.
@@OGTraeskiI recommend trying out guilds for casual play or for specific interests. Keep an eye on map chat as you go as guilds do advertise when they’re recruiting new members. They’re a good source of information and help as well as community if you find a good one. Some guilds also organise events like fractal, strike and raid training or guild missions and fashion shows.
1month into the game, loving it. its also challenging af after 80. basically - early 80s, 40/50 master points are introduction to various game mechanics and its done well, but u still need to google (me alot)
Yea, I noticed the menus about that stuff, it all looked a bit complex, I figured I'd get into that at a later date, because my character isn't struggling to kill anything atm.
LW S2 is where things really start to get challenging, Heart of Thorns even more so. Things get easier somewhat after that but are still challenging enough that you probably won’t sleepwalk through it
That's weird, I don't hear anything. Are you listening with headphones on? It could be my chair, it's pretty old, but I don't move around that much when I am recording the audio. Or it's the tree frogs outside, they're pretty damn loud, but I use audio removal for them.
if u think nw has slow development pace, u should see gw2 :) the game is titally forgotten and I dont know if the devs know where are the gw2 servers are located at all.
@@NewbWorld It does get an expansion yearly, with updates to the expansion story arc throughout the year. New expansion comes in August, also player housing is being added in August. The op is trolling
what utter rubbish. the game is in active development and the servers work exemplary. there is not ever any scheduled downtime 'for maintenance' many games with subscription models dare to take away from their players. this nonsense is unheard of in GW. the trading post is *global* (including all EU and US servers), can get accessed from everywhere and never returns your items if they fail to sell and many more nice amenities.
The Video will be better if you do not include all these memes and sounds - they are so distracting and makes the whole video to look childish and cheap, no matter the topic is Great and of course GW2 is Worth playing even today.

Thanks for the feedback. I don't know if you saw any of my previous videos, but this is actually the first one I decided to put a couple of memes in there. I saw a couple other creators I watch do it, and personally enjoyed it, so wanted to try it out. I like it, because it adds a bit of a change up in the pacing, but I could see how some might not. It's something I might poll for the audience and see if they prefer it with, or without.
Yea, it's not for everyone, I am a millennial as well, but still enjoy it. It's also said to help keep the audience's attention span, having lots going on in a video, instead of just talking endlessly for 12 minutes.

@@NewbWorld It has a nice environment and the world has lots of things to do, so I will give it that, but its hard getting immersed in a world where nothing is grounded in reality despite trying to depict the landscape as "realistic", and all the player cosmetics are zany, cartoon nonsense. I have a feeling all the socialising is done in discords and on reddit, so no one in game was very talkative. Couldn't even get in the main city until level 10 for some stupid reason. Other than to walk about, there's no particular charm to the graphics or story in the game that keeps me in the game Just because a lot of people like it, doesn't mean it's good

It just didn't capture me like classic world of warcraft has. I gave GW2 another chance because it has two things wow was lacking: stuff to do, and a refined environment. You just cant funny get into them because not a lot is rooted in reality. It's hard to tell what kind of world your character is in. Also the races are pretty trash. Where are dwarves and elves??

It's great seeing new players enjoying GW2. As a advice I say, if you one day feel like you're not progressing or stuck: Look at the achievement panel and begin doing collections. A Lot of them give nice rewards like ascended gear.
Also, buy Copper salvage-o-matic. It's the only 'mandatory' thing to have to not lose your sanity by constantly buying salvage kits. Put it on the shared inventory slot if you have one.

@@NewbWorld Keep in mind that the Legendary grind takes a long, long time for each item. My advice is to take it slow, chip away a little at a time and find out what you need before you actually need it as you can start collecting/doing a lot of things prior to making the Legendary item.
For example, the Legendary Ring Aurora requires the completion of an achievement that's time-gated to take 16 days. You can do it before you make Aurora though making that time-gate null and void.

Me and a friend started playing this week. Long story short...I'm hooked. We saw the wings in dragon bash! We have 5 days to get them. The grind began. Me and him bought the first 3 expansions yesterday. Wake up this morning and find out his account has been locked down for security reasons. Did a Google search. Problem that existed for many years. Mostly random occurrence. Most ppl got it resolved after weeks of emails. I don't believe my friend is getting his wings no more and lemme tell you... we're having fun with this game so far but this has most definitely ruined both of our experiences with this game. Sucked the wind right out the sails. The universe said "shame on you, Elden Ring DLC drops and you're playing GW2? HOLD MY BEER!"
I had that happen as well but it was resolved very quickly.

All Legendaries, save for the Envoy Armor and the Aurene g3 weapons are locked behind a Living World season. For example, all the g1 Legendary Weapons require access to LW s2 since you'll need two account-bound currencies that can only be gotten there.

I know I’ve already made some comments, but I wanted to throw out some additional advice. Ask in mapchat if you need help in general or with something specific. Someone is likely to help you if you give it a minute.
If someone offers a slot in their home instance, jump on it. This is an invaluable boost in materials and currencies for upcoming story and festivals. Alternatively it is a good start for making gold. Be sure you have orichalcum tools before you go in.
Gather every resource you come across, specifically trees and metals. You will need butt-loads of them (other than copper and green wood) throughout all your crafting.
Make absolutely sure that your exotic (orange) weapons are not precursors for legendary weapons. There is text that will tell you that it’s used for a specific weapon. And don’t throw out random non-junk items in your inventory until you’ve checked they aren’t used for anything. Some of those items are a pain to get again.

As to home instance/player housing: Outside of the occasional story mission, your home instance is a place where purchased resource nodes are placed for you to harvest once per day and are refreshed at reset. A full home instance is extremely valuable in that every resource node (festival, LW, Black Lion, and crafting) is present. It represents a huge amount of time, gold and actual money invested and takes no less than a year to complete. Outside of that however, it holds little value since it can't be changed.
The upcoming player home as I understand it will have not only the resource nodes, but also the ability to decorate it in a similar way to guildhalls. Needless to say, players are very excited about this.
@@NewbWorld At this point, your legacy home instance is the F2P one. All the nodes, no customization. The new "home instance" enables you to build from a wide array of components (chairs, walls, plants, etc..) to customize a large instance that you may invite others to join and check out.

@@NewbWorld Ten hours isn’t enough time to make a good decision, but if you really hate the game after ten hours, you probably won’t change your opinion after thirty hours. Just know that GW2 gets so much better after the base game, and the first two expansions plus the Living World seasons 3 and 4, are the best part of the game.
Edit: I made the comment above before I finished watching the video. I can see that you are hooked now and you will be playing GW2 for many more months, if not many years to come. For me, it’s the best game available even though it has a few faults and I wish it was more popular, so the studio could hire more developers and create more content at a faster pace.
There’s nothing like that feeling you have when you accidentally find your first world boss fight, just by walking over a hill. Specially if you didn’t know before hand that such fights were a thing in the game. I hope that you didn’t do too much research into the game, so there are still hundreds of surprises for you to find on your own.

I also like documenting it as well, so I can get a feel for the community around the game, as that's big for me too. When I put out a New World video right now, the comment section is filled with toxicity. The same for Destiny 2, if I questioned anything, or got something wrong, I was slaughtered in the comments. I like how the GW2 player base is very positive, I hear the same about the FF community too. That's big for me. It's probably a reason I won't end up getting into WoW, I hear they can get a bit crazy. xD

It's not good? I was planning on doing 10 hours of GW2, BDO, ESO, Throne, and maybe some version of WoW, before making my final decision on which game I want to go hard on. I played BDO on console, but never got into it, I think it felt weird on controller, thought maybe giving it a chance on PC would change my mind on it.

@@NewbWorld BDO looks very skill based, its not as high a skill ceiling as it looks from the flashy moves. Gear plays an important part by design. The grind for best gear is insane to make you spend money too. There is a lot of good about it though, and if only a 10 hour dive, you'll enjoy it!
NW player here as well. I started playing GW2 the first summer NW had a player dip thinking NW would die out before brim was announced. It's a very complex game with a great MSQ and story line in the expansions. I have a character I play just to do MSQ/Story content, but also play pvp with other characters. That being said the new player areas look a little dated I think Asura and Norn work out better graphically, but as you progress to other zones they're more up to date with better shaders etc. Also with the DX11 update the devs will made some shader passes to bring some areas up as they have time to do so. However I've never let the look of a world hold me back unless it's like EQ level lol. Game is absolutely fun, has similar battle mechanics as new world if you enable action camera mode, dodge works similarly.

I've been sticking around the newb zones, so haven't experience any of the later zones, will be interesting to see. The start to my personal story wasn't anything too gripping yet, but I heard it gets better later on, so I guess I gotta just push through the initial few missions that just feel like character introductions.
I only gave up on my necro because I didn't like the look of it's basic attack. 😂

Welcome to Tyria! Another benefit of the horizontal progression system, the old content is still relative, even if just for something fun to do to break things up. This also means any new players are not needing to skip it to "catch up" to the vets. Its a wonderful system. And then theres the scaling system so you can play with friends that are more casual or more hardcore. And then theres the.....oh wait let me keep this from becoming a wall of text...too many things to gush about over this game.
I am really hyped to get my first flying mount. :P
man, that IBS cutscene with Rytlock and Jhavi still gives me goosebumps.
you got everything pretty much on point - the best thing about GW 2 is, "grind" is not mandatory at all. It's there in different areas for different things for people who want it, but only as a niche segment. Even for legendaries, you will easily have enough to get a couple done before long with NO grind, just by playing the game.
Good Anise call out as well - the story and lore are actually pretty deep from race to race and beyond with the expansions.
I'm looking forward to the later content, everyone's saying the later zones and story gets a lot better graphically and narratively. The graphics were really the only complaint I'd have with GW2, it feels a bit dated. If they did a GW3 with like unreal engine, man, that could be my forever game. 😂
@@NewbWorld yeah the vanilla zones do feel a bit dated by now, and it does get better with later maps - although if you get the right angle you could screenshot a vanilla map and it'd look like from a game made this year... the landscaping is terrific, mostly old props and buildings are low-poly so yeah. Also the story after lv 80 ditches that dialogue-cutscene style for on-the-fly voiced lines that feel more organic and dynamic. The VFX and animations I think are pretty good, only in a watercolor kind of style that I know isn't for everyone.
Your wishes may come true with the sequel on UE-5 (we know for sure the studio is working on something with that engine) but even so it may be a few years away still.
Been playing for 7 months now and can only recommend it. You just have to find out what you want to do first and set yourself a path. Then its very enjoyable to play. I would also recommend buying the living world seasons. They add alot of story that give the main story more depth. Season 4 was the best of them in my opinion.
Yea, I am very much a goal oriented MMO player, love playing through the map completion, wish it was possible to get mounts a bit earlier on without DLC to help with that though.
Is there alot of player whit player interaction like groups or anything is it playable whit 3 friends or do you all need to farm and grind alone

Unless you plan on doing fractals getting full ascd. really isn't necessary esp. if you plan on making legendary after anyways. Exotics will get you through all other content. You only need ascd. for fractals because they require a special gear attachment called agony resistance which cannot be slotted into exotics.

Played Wow for years and even spent a good amout of time in Rift (I know). I've been out of gaming for a few years and now I'm looking for a main. GW2 is currently at the top of my short list, but I'm struggling with the mount situation, or at least how I perceive it to be considering I've never played.
My parents would never pay a sub fee for me, so I got into Rift as well. 😂 I remember it being fun, and one of the first to do those open world rift events.
Why are you struggling with the mounts? From what I hear from everyone, the mounts are the best in the industry, and from what I felt with the raptor, I feel like they're not lying. I think you'll love the mounts in the game.
One of the Greatest things about GW2 is how easy it is to take a break from the game.
Because Level 80 is the cap, and the gear doesnt get statistically better than Ascended, youll find your account waiting and ready for content when you get back from doing / playing something else.
Yea, more games need to do that. Breaks from MMOs are very healthy, and prevents players from getting burnt out, and eventually hating the game they play. Too many games you don't want to come back to and try again because you know all your previous progress will be useless, and you have no idea where to start off again.
@@NewbWorld the game is not really that enjoyable, its just about collecting farming etc after cap and then gear, pfftch, then repeating dailys that burns you out quickly, for someone whos been on that game for years i know someone on that game, their told me this, after awhile i saw.

As silly as it is the 8-bit Raptor is canon. It's part of an event that happens every April called the Super Adventure Box. SAB is canon, it really does happen and is fully diegetic with the world.
That one I got the footage of doesn't look too bad, but when I was in the starting zone, I saw one, that was just straight blue pixels, and not gunna lie, I was like wtf is that. 😂
My main problem with GW2 is that I have characters created back in Beta taking all the slots. Logging back in after so many years is so overwhelming, there is just too much happening on the screen. And there are no slots to create a new character from scratch because those are limited :(
Why not just delete a character or buy a new slot? You can bank all the bday gifts before deleting a character if you want.
Yea, at that point, with all those characters, you must have already pretty much completed the game. 😂
I play mostly FF14, but GW2 is my secondary MMO when i take a break. Love it!
I gotta give FF a real go. I tried once, but gave up really fast. Wasn't really feeling the graphics, and the intro people weren't voice overed, but I always hear good things about it, so I should have pushed through a little further.

Yea, it was a blast. I saw some rumors of GW3 being a possibility when I was looking online, that would be something that I would love to check out. The only downside I had when playing is that I felt the graphics were a bit dated (perfectly understandable for a 10 year old game), so if they put out GW3, with graphics on par with games like New World, that would be amazing. Would feel bad for all the lost progress for the players tho.
yeah there's rumors of gw3 development, but I think that we will not see anything for at least 3-5 years...fortunately the did a decent job for players that played both GW1 and GW2, so at least we can expect that some things will be brought over, at least as unique skins 😊 guess we'll see!
@@NewbWorld true, the personal story for the vanilla game looks its age but it gets better. some parts of the game are older than 12yrs. ANet developed its own game engine back in the late 2000s (starting to code them in 2007). last year or so they updated parts of it and DirectX11 is now standard. nowadays, particle clutter is starting to overwhelm some players visually.

they changed how they view expansions. in September 2023, SOTO started their line of yearly expansions. the next gets released on August 20th.
I think I will slowly pick up the expansions as they go on sale. Got enough content to hold me over until another sale.

I think you'll enjoy it. Advice on what to do? I'd say just go in and start with zone completion, just helping people around towns, and whenever a main story mission is available, do that as well.

a tip if you haven't worked it out already - its a good idea to NOT assign your auto-attack skill (usually skill 1) to a mouse button, because the autoattack won't work with the mouse. Not sure if you did this or not but from the way you were talking about setting up your skills, it sounded like you might have.
I don't fully understand, but I didn't change the #1 skill. From the start though, I was able to attack with left click (I believe that's my auto attack), maybe that's because I play in action combat though. If I hold down the mouse button it auto attacks for me.
Been playing since beta and the trick to not getting burnout is to play it casually. Take your time and play it the way you want. There are no pressures with item fomo as well. Its how u build your character and how you play is what matters.
Yea, that's how I do it. Only got a few days a week to play, so it's hard to burn out.
I found it funny you going for Elementalist thinking it will be like Mage in other mmos. Great video tbh and always fun seeing new people try the game!

The complexity of Elementalist comes from having to memorize 20 skills for each weapon and how they interact with each other *and* being able to swap between them seamlessly.
Playing ele has most commonly been described as “playing piano”. Also getting used to being in down state more often than other professions.

@@NewbWorld There is a Low Intensity build for ele that stays entirely in fire and is extremely effective. The downsides are that the gear is expensive, and you have no skills to break enemy defiance (the blue bar under the health bar on harder enemies).
Side note: playing in action cam means if you are holding l-mouse for auto attack, then you can bind auto to another skill. Say, summoning elementals?
Just remember you have to do it for each weapon!
As a 8 year casual player (on and off) Heck yes! New expansion at August 24th with gorgeous Nordic inspired nature zones and the best housing system in an MMO arriving! ;)
Yea, it's a hell of a game. Can't imagine what they'll do with GW3, with all of the great features, and modern graphics.

Nice. I believe you can play with people of any server at all times, but it's only world vs world where servers get locked. Not sure if Guilds can form across servers though.
@@NewbWorldwvw aside, the only thing you need to concern is NA or EU server. So as long as your friends and you are on the same region, you can make guild together, group up, and play together.

I played Guild Wars yrs ago. Ive been looking around for a mmo or live service that has some longevity and a player bas that helps each other. You GW2 is the way to go?

I played over 5000 hours of GW2 this was over 7 years ago when I had far to much time on my hands, I don't play anymore but to this day you will never find a better MMO it has literally everything, fractions, raids, dungeons, massive open world, PVP which was great but got took over with a bot system, but the raids are such a great team effort and you can even measure you're dps using arc dps or atleast you could making ot even more competitive everyone likes to try and hit the benchmark, probably the mmo with the most builds and classes where most do actually have a specific role and job to do, whether support, tank, dps, buff etc best game I've played fantastic!
Yea, it's hard to go wrong with GW2. My only gripe is the graphics. For me, if GW3 ever comes out in going to no life that game for sure.
@NewbWorld yea definately the graphics are outdated but the sad thing is they still have no competition, there hasn't been a mmo that compares to guildwars 2 in my opinion, WoW is even more outdated and that probably takes 2nd spot, imagine having 2 mmos released for over 10 years and still nothing that comes to par seems like they got lazy with the mmos, most mmos release on mobile playstore nowadays lol

Yea, it's been great to me so far. I kinda am interested in GW3 though, cuz a graphical upgrade would take the game to another level imo.
I think that there is one great example of why Guild Wars 2 is the game to play: They have never done anything remotely as cringey as telling the player base that they will lose their character names if they don't login every 30 days.... I gave up on NW shortly after I hit max level. Came back to check on my characters after hearing about that insanity and discovered they were all in need of new home servers due to their previous servers being .. merged, empty? Guild Wars 2 has never had this kind of problem, it is so time friendly in that, as you mentioned with the gear progression, you can leave the game for YEARS and come back to something that is immediately playable without catching up.
14k+ hours into Guild Wars 2, still not bored. :)
Oh, and home server only matters for WvW. You can still play with anyone, regardless of their home server. PvE uses the "megaserver" system, where new instances of a map will spawn when the current one becomes full, or despawn (with offer to move you to a new one within 60 minutes) when their population gets too sparse. Never a queue in PvE.
Damn, that's a wild amount of hours. I really hope they make a GW3 though, that would be insane. Like GW2, with their devs, but like New World graphics. For me that would be the ideal game for me.
@@NewbWorld Funny about the graphics mention... I was playing Once Human today with a friend and she noticed that it reminded her of New World. Hacking all those trees and other nodes. Same engine? :)

As a new world player, gw2 is awesome, started in jan when the content lul began and its fantastic. the endgame is massive. Tho i find guilds maybe too odd, I don't get it, Im still very solo in the game. compared to wow where guilds and raids feel easy to get involved, in gw2, Still a loner 6 months in, When I ask they point me to reddit to find ones to ask to join. I mean, i wanna stay ingame or discord at the most. lacks a guild recruitment chat maybe.. that said gw2 isnt perfect, but it truly does have a decade of content and scaling and systems make solo life very fun

@@NewbWorld Eso is great, the melee combat I really dislike but ranged caster was most enjoyable there, 10 hours is a tough cap :P. gw2 10 hours feels hard IMO, classic wow.. which one? :D I've played cata recently, SoD might of died? Cata seems the most active classic right now. IMO, the three will be hard not to sink in 100 hours :D BDO, I've never played so be curious to see. heard combat is good and they are slowly reeling back the p2w elements
@@Tukotaga2024 I always did range in ESO, and enjoyed it. My fav was a ganking bow build. I had no idea WoW had so many version of classic. xD Would have to research. I wanna give BDO a go on PC, cuz I always hear great things, but I only ever tried on console and couldn't get into it there, maybe PC is different.
@@NewbWorld def try cata, one of the best pvp expansions arguable till around dragon soul. also just super fun overall with class design. I have played wow since wotlk expansion. and retail (dragonflight) really just feels like an entirely different game
@@NewbWorldbe prepared, bdo can get very overwhelming at a first touch, even tracking the main quest can get you dizzy, when i did that myself after 3 hours i noticed that i moved from main to side quest and wasted my time 😂, it has the best action combat on the market if you dont pick a boring class on early and has a LOT of systems that you wont even discover in the first 20 hours or even more, also building your workers “empire” which means to accuire workers and feed them so they can work and produce materials which you can use for crafting/cooking etc can make you dizzy so look up for a tutorial
The game is solid its just showing its age and its got to a point where its hard to ignore. I didnt grow up playing it, so trying to play it now with all these modern games just makes it a slog at times for me.
I couldn't have put it better myself. RuneScape I can look past the graphics because it's nostalgic, but I can't really for Guild Wars 2. If they made a Guild Wars 3, with graphics like Throne, I am so in.
Arena Net is the Thing Tank of the Genre! Without GW2 there would be no Dragonflight and certainly no The War Without! Every Feature that is now being implemented in WoW has existed in GW2 for a very, very long time!
Yea, I would love to see a GW3, so they can continue on, but with even better graphics.

Yea, it's a great game. I got too many games to play ATM though with Throne dropping n New World: Aeternum expansion as well. Haven't been on GW in ages.

Gw2 is amazing. It's unfortunate that they have not updated their new player experience, though. The old zones where you start in are from 2012 and very dated.
Yea, tbh that was one thing a bit hard for me, the graphics are a big step down from New World, which I was playing before. Can't hold it against them though, being a 10+ year old game, but if they made a Guild Wars 3, with updated graphics, I think that would be insane.
@NewbWorld yeah it is also quite a bit better in New zones with new armor models. You can really see the difference just between using a new skin for an item or an old one.

I am actually thinking about maybe putting 10 hours into BDO, ESO, GW2 (done), and Classic WoW (since I never played WoW), and then decide which game I want to stick with, so I make the right choice. I used to play ESO tons on my Xbox and loved it. Cyrodiil was some of the coolest experiences I've had in gaming to date. With ESO I gotta decide if I want to go back on console, or see how it feels on PC. I think PC will feel and look better, plus I can get addons, but I have so many champ points on console, and I think I got some expansions, so I gotta weight it out. 😂

Devs do care, expansion are released yearly, skills are balanced frequently, last expansion came with a new legendary grind, a new weapon sets for each class, next expansion is in a couple of month and will bring housing and another weapon for all classes. Also devs re visit previous content to fix and improve stuff, of course there is always some complains on how often this is done and what they prioritize to fix.
ANet truly has devs who care - a lot. it's not an exaggeration. they listen to the forums and they have put in a ton of _quality of life_ items/mechanics into the game over the years.

Yea it's great and very new player friendly. Very welcoming community too, so if you ask a question in global chat you'll get help. You'll really enjoy the game. If you do buy the expansions though, I wouldn't use the max level boost until you've gotten at least one character to max level, or it'll really confuse you.

I tried the game a while back, as it's been hard to find something good to play. I'm an MMORPG veteran. However, my experience wasn't amazing. I tried the early game, but it felt really boring and old in a way, perhaps I should give it another try and see how the endgame plays out.
A lot of people tell me graphically it get's a lot better later on, in the more mid to end game zones, so if that's holding you back, maybe try push through. Or try out a different class, some feel more fun than others.
I literally just finished playing about 4 hours of GW2 and have played it off and on for almost 11 years. The game lacks any depth, the story has become excrutiatingly boring (fighting with positive thoughts?!), and I just have to shake my head at how ArenaNet STILL hasn't balanced the classes, updated the gear and max level (seriously it's been level 80 for more than five years, and the devs let it become fashion wars incarnate). It's a game choice if you're a new player to MMOs, but ArenaNet still has overlapping mobs, patrols, and op "guards" that swarm you and kill a solo player in less than 30 seconds. I mean, you have to wear a "filter mask" just to play in zones with story quests?! And you can only have 30 "filters" on you at a time!? Those only last about 20 minutes and then you have travel all the way back to the starting area to buy more. Rediculous! What are they thinking over there in their studio? I know they're trying to shake this "reputation" of being an easy game but ArenaNet doesn't put any thought into HOW they can increase difficulty in a meaningful way. It's an exasperating, juvenile, convoluted, never balanced, and constantly changing (for the worse) game that is free-to-play but charges you ludicriously high prices for nothing but digital, cosmetic items. And 99% of all the loot you get from killing monsters AND completing world events drops nothing but crafting materials! Seriously? I'm in awe of the lack of any meaningful quality to this game. It's just not worth your time or your money imo and, I guarantee you, you'll be tired of it in 6 months or less.
I wouldn't recommend this game for any competitive play. PvE is nice, really relaxed, interesting maps. But PvP is really horrible because it's so unbalanced and some classes have very toxic mechanics which makes it extremely frustrating to go against other players who play them. If you want an MMO with a WoW feel but with better combat and slightly better graphics, this is for you. If you want to PvP, this is going to be a big let down and I would look somewhere else. Bear in mind that the grind in GW2 is insanely frustrating even in PvE. And the story is quite repetitive with the same type of end goal and types of missions and mechanics. Their last expansion was an epic fail, even the devs admitted it. But the game is free for Core maps, there is no subscription so there's that.
Only really experienced PVE myself, and I think I'd say I lean that way more in my overall play, so I can't really give my opinion on the PVP. Been enjoying the PVE so far though.
Yeah, PvE is nice. The Heart of Thorns maps are really cool.
The thing with Gw2 is that you can take your time and enjoy the world/content, there is absolutely NO need to rush it.
You got players on every map doing events/META events etc, and if you like World vs World you will get the materials to get yourself a full Legendary armor set + backpack & rings!
Yea, I like games like that, with the horizontal progression. I can't play crazy hours a week, so it's nice to know the grinds I work for, won't become irrelevant in a few months.

Great video mate. One thing that just doesnt sit well with me is the way you speak. Its not your voice thats bad, but the fact that its clear you read from a script. Im not saying others dont but what i mean is that you read in a very monotone voice kinda like how someone who is uninterested in what they are doing read like. the annoying thing about guild wars is the fractals pigeon hole you into only putting agony resistance on all of your gear instead of creative perk choices.
So you'd want 2 gear sets? One for fractals, and one for everything else?

is required in fractals and useless every where else
if you want to minmax: there are agony infusions that provide agony plus a bit of stats
but since the max you'll get from that is +5 stat per infusion (in total +90, if i didn't miscount), it doesn't really matter that much
the only reason you'd have to actually prepare 2 sets of gear would be if you were to minmax both fractals and wvw, since there are similar infusions for wvw which have bonus damage done/less damage take to/from wvw faction npcs
anyway. you lose almost nothing from slotting your gear with pure agony resistance, so don't worry about it

@@NewbWorld no, you just run around in your fractal gear (if you love running fractals) wherever you go. the builds for fractals/raids/strike missions don't differ much for most players without niche jobs and any experienced player can run OpenWorld content in their fractal gear.
otoh, if you love playing healer in endgame content and struggle in Open PvE then getting exotic gear to do some damage will cost you a pittance nowadays.

@@OGTraeski The good part about the open world is there are activities that pop up and people get together to do them. World bosses and these active quests usually bring lots of people around to play with.
@@OGTraeskiI recommend trying out guilds for casual play or for specific interests. Keep an eye on map chat as you go as guilds do advertise when they’re recruiting new members.
They’re a good source of information and help as well as community if you find a good one. Some guilds also organise events like fractal, strike and raid training or guild missions and fashion shows.
1month into the game, loving it. its also challenging af after 80. basically - early 80s, 40/50 master points are introduction to various game mechanics and its done well, but u still need to google (me alot)
Yea, I noticed the menus about that stuff, it all looked a bit complex, I figured I'd get into that at a later date, because my character isn't struggling to kill anything atm.
LW S2 is where things really start to get challenging, Heart of Thorns even more so. Things get easier somewhat after that but are still challenging enough that you probably won’t sleepwalk through it

@@NewbWorld It does get an expansion yearly, with updates to the expansion story arc throughout the year. New expansion comes in August, also player housing is being added in August. The op is trolling

what utter rubbish. the game is in active development and the servers work exemplary. there is not ever any scheduled downtime 'for maintenance' many games with subscription models dare to take away from their players. this nonsense is unheard of in GW. the trading post is *global* (including all EU and US servers), can get accessed from everywhere and never returns your items if they fail to sell and many more nice amenities.

Thanks for the feedback. I don't know if you saw any of my previous videos, but this is actually the first one I decided to put a couple of memes in there. I saw a couple other creators I watch do it, and personally enjoyed it, so wanted to try it out. I like it, because it adds a bit of a change up in the pacing, but I could see how some might not. It's something I might poll for the audience and see if they prefer it with, or without.
Yea, it's not for everyone, I am a millennial as well, but still enjoy it. It's also said to help keep the audience's attention span, having lots going on in a video, instead of just talking endlessly for 12 minutes.

@@NewbWorld It has a nice environment and the world has lots of things to do, so I will give it that, but its hard getting immersed in a world where nothing is grounded in reality despite trying to depict the landscape as "realistic", and all the player cosmetics are zany, cartoon nonsense. I have a feeling all the socialising is done in discords and on reddit, so no one in game was very talkative. Couldn't even get in the main city until level 10 for some stupid reason.
Other than to walk about, there's no particular charm to the graphics or story in the game that keeps me in the game

@@NewbWorld I've never played it, I just got final fantasy vibes playing GW2 today. I will continue to give it a chance. I used to play it years ago. It just didn't capture me like classic world of warcraft has.
I gave GW2 another chance because it has two things wow was lacking: stuff to do, and a refined environment. You just cant funny get into them because not a lot is rooted in reality. It's hard to tell what kind of world your character is in. Also the races are pretty trash. Where are dwarves and elves??
gw2 has the worst mounts in mmorpg lifespan they are clunky and not worthy to be praised. i hate the mount system but like other stuff.
