Rode it about 60 times total so far. 7 in a row this past Sunday. Trim breaks hit maybe 2 of those rides. Still not my favorite in the park. Skyrush/Stormrunner still get my vote for #1 in the park.
I got 5 rides on Candymonium this summer and I really liked it! I preferred it in the front rather than the back but I think this ride is good no matter where you sit. Hersheypark is one of my favorite parks to visit and never have a bad time.

It's my 2nd fav in park, SkyRush being #1 ,Candymonium really does complete their lineup even more, making Hershey a must visit park! I would love to see GCI put their hybrid track on WildCat.

I am a sucker for floater airtime and the smoothness and speed hill and airtime hills on candymonium reminded me nitro and that made me so happy!!! its truly the perfect coaster for hershey park and it pleasantly surprised me. I liked the speed hill here more than the one on orion, and thats saying a lot. In fact I like candymonium more than orion as a whole... but overall I agree with you on everything, except I would put candymonium above a lot of other B&Ms. For the record though, I have not ridden Mako, but I assume its similar and i would LOVE it given how much i have a soft spot for B&M hypers. Love your channel :)
New fan of your reviews. Really like what I’m seeing! I’m not a big coaster rider but love to see them in action at all the different parks in the US and abroad. Many thanks!
The airtime is probably better in the back also because Diamondback, Behemoth, and Intimidator all have those 2 in the middle, 2 in the side seat trains which are much much longer as Candy has the normal ones.
Funny story about this coaster for me: One of my party members actually malfunctioned the ride because she did not put her seat belt on first before she put down the clamshell and they dispatched the train and she shouted to them and they stopped the train a bit after it started moving, but they could not unlock the restraints, so they had to call maintenance, and they could not release the restraints with the rides computer, so they released them manually, and then they had to send test trains. While all of that was happening, literally everyone in the queue left the line, and I was waiting in line for the front row for about an hour.
I love the name as it can only be pulled off at Hershey park... I agree that second trim is a bummer but I don't mind the length or it being a milder hyper as it was designed as a GP magnet which it clearly is.... Hershey has enough big boy coasters (Sky Rush.. Storm Runner etc...) that this slight step down is a perfect in between coaster
I haven't ridden it yet, I'll be riding it next summer when I go to Coaster Con (probably will do an eastern PA trip whether or not it ends up happening).
My son and I enjoyed all the air time on candymonium. It was the only ride with a long wait when we were there in early Sept. We also ride Sky Rush for the first time as he is finally big enough to ride everything. I really didn't notice the restraints as I didn't know how aggressive it actually was.
My girlfriend and I went to Hersheypark back in August and we got on Candy Monium twice, once in the back and the second ride in the front. It’s a great addition for HersheyPark, and yes, I agree Skyrush was head banging galore. The only other B&M hypers I’ve been on in the last year was Nitro and Apollo’s Chariot. The air time on Candy Monium was solid, like the finale going around the fountain, and not only how smooth the ride was, but how quickly it went up the lift hill. I agree, they should have come up with a better name for this ride, but compared to the other 2 hypers I’ve been on, the back row is more intense on Nitro and Apollo’s Chariot. Of these 3 hypers, as far as ride duration, comfort, theming, I would put Nitro one, Candy Monium two, and Apollo’s Chariot at three. I don’t plan on traveling outside of PA and NJ due to COVID-19, but once the pandemic is over, the next couple of B&M hypers on my list to try are Orion, Fury 325, and Diamondback
Hershey being my home park, I'm very happy with the addition of Candymonium. It was very much needed after Skyrush. I love the ride a lot but do agree it is a bit on the short side. I feel like if the ride wasn't apart of a 100 million dollar expansion to the park, they would have spent a little more on the ride to make it longer. And the trims are hit or miss. Sometimes both hit hard, sometimes only one hits, sometimes neither hit at all.
I rode Nitro for the first time last week and I found it to be pretty tame, I prefer Candymonium. I think you give Apollo's Chariot a hard time too, the airtime on the back row is suprisingly consitent thoughout the circuit! My wife half listens to your videos in the background and for years now she said you're a crazy man for having El Toro 'A WOODEN COASTER - BLEURGH' ranked so high. Well, she rode it for the first time last week and it's her new favourite coaster! She's eating humble pie.
HUGE shoutout to you Chris for getting all the way to my home park from the West Coast, and in a pandemic no less! I will admit, as an enthusiast, my B&M hyper count is a bit low at just 3: Apollo's Chariot, Nitro, and now Candy. I haven't been on Apollo in 10 years and am not sure when I will get back to Busch to ride it, but I will ride Nitro next week so that will give me a better comparison. But considering I'm obsessed with hypers for their smoothness and airtime, Candy fits the bill perfectly for me and fills a massive deficit that Hersheypark had. And PS: you have now met one other fellow enthusiast who shares your loathing of Skyrush aka Thighcrush!
@@joels1986 I'm going to sound like a super weird enthusiast... but I can't stand I-305. I don't do well with coasters that focus on intensity, and I-305 legitimately made me sick the last time I rode it...
That first hill was incredible!! I counted about 5-6 seconds when i lifted off my seat and landed back on. Such a nice addition for Hershey. I personally still find Nitro to be my favorite hyper so far
It looks very much like Apollo's Chariot at Busch Gardens, Williamsburg, VA. The stats and the layout are very similar. Candymonium has more turns as AC is mostly an out and back. But height, first drop angle and speed are all very similar.
Pretty similar thoughts to what I have. I had both trims on during by visit so even the speed hill was pretty disappointing. I went in thinking this could be my favorite B&M hyper and left with it being my least favorite, even after 5 rides.
I loved this coaster the first time I rode it, well because it is the only B&M hyper I have riden. I agree about your thoughts on the best elements. That first camelback and the speed hill are amazing! Im just waiting for the video about the first coaster shown in this video...😁
this is actually my favorite B&M Hyper out of the 5 I’ve ridden (Candy, Mako, Nitro, Intimidator, Apollo’s). The airtime just stood out (ejector on the speed hill and floatjector on the two main camelbacks) more than the others and the ride didn’t feel too short to me. I actually prefer the 7-row hyper trains because it feels like you fly through the course at a quicker pace whereas the longer hyper trains can make the ride feel a bit sluggish at times. Trim hit on the last airtime hill but it was still an amazing coaster and it’s my #1 at Hershey (love Skyrush but it does kill my legs and has gotten a lil rattly over the years).
I love it. It's the smoothest coaster I've ever been on. It has a great theme that fits the park. I haven't figured out which part of the train I prefer, front/back... both have their perks. The trims don't always turn on, sometimes not at all. I've never been on it with both turned on. The second trim gives me airtime, because it hits hard right before going around the fountain which makes it a better experience in my opinion. There was tons of airtime for the entire ride, I was out of my seat more than I was in it. It was a great addition to the park. The lines never seem to be long, they run 3 trains and they let you pick your seat. It's also going to be open for Christmas Candylane. The fact that I can ride it no matter what season it is, is pretty nice too!
I actually really like Candymonium. It's a ride that isn't too extreme but just thrilling enough for enthusiasts. Everyone rips on my baby Apollo's Chariot, but it's the OG.
After riding it just an hour and a half ago, apollos may be the OG, but that doesn’t mean it’s deserving of the ripping(and not deserving of top ten in the golden tickets).
Candymonium is the GP hyper. Thankfully, Hersheypark called RMC and gave us something even better in 2023. I have the lawn ornament Steel Curtain above this.
Great review as always!!! I’ve now got rides on multiple days and that first drop has been very good every time. Kinda backwards from your review tho because I hardly ever even notice that speed hill. Orion’s speed hill was much stronger. Great addition to the park tho and your right it’s very smooth.
Mako is still my favorite B&M hyper, but Candymonium is my 2nd favorite. I love that there's no rattle, and I love the visuals during the ride. It's hard for me to tell much of a difference in strength of airtime on B&M hypers. They're all good floater, maybe borderline ejector on occasion, but I can't tell much of a difference. So unique elements, good visuals, and smoothness are always the things that make me differentiate.
This is my favorite coaster at the park, and I've been there a LOT. I rarely touched my seat (good floater) and the helix was intense! Definitely a must ride.
I really enjoyed Candymonium and so did my family. I put it above Nitro and Apollo's Chariot. My Favorite part we was the speed hill and that little turn to the left was very cool and a unique element. The pacing was very fast compared to say Nitro for me. What did you think of pacing compared to other B&Ms?
I have ridden Steel Vengeance now and I am just saying I have a new favorite. On my trip to CP we were sitting on top thrill dragster and it got closed for high winds.
This coaster is an amazing fit, I was thinking is this next coaster going to be a giga because I wanted one but I didn't realize that lots of the big coasters in the park are to intense for some people and Candymonium is a perfect fit. B&M Hypers are not intense at all but graceful and full of great flouter airtime. I don't think they could of gotten a better fit than this.
They take the trims off for special times like @ Hersheypark in the dark. Completely noticeable difference. And I’ve given credit to these ride ops being so good! Candymonium is upper tier right behind Mako & Shambhala.🥃
I got to get on it a few days ago, and it’s my favorite coaster I’ve ever ridden, it’s silky smooth and has the best airtime I’ve experienced, granted I have like 20 credits. It’s a really fun time honestly, and I’m someone who has a bad fear of heights. However my only qualm with it is that when the trim on the airtime hill right after the turnaround is on, it screwed with my head, and I was shaken for the next few elements, other than that though, I think it’s perfect!
I only got one ride on this, and the first trim was on and definitely put a damper on the rest of the ride. Was slightly disappointed but the airtime was still solid and it was absolutely the smoothest ride I can remember being on. After my most recent trip I'd put it probably 2nd or 3rd behind Fahrenheit or Skyrush (I had an incredible first ride on this even though the thigh crusher is real)
Candymonium was my 100th roller coaster so I feel biased when I say that it’s my 2nd favorite hyper right behind Diamondback. That being said I’ve only ride Intimidator, DBack, Behemoth and Candymonium.
It might be the fact that I haven't ridden a world class coaster between October 2019 and July of 2020, but Candymonium is now my #2 out of 63. I can see why some people were underwhelmed, but my friend and I were talking about it for the rest of the day, and I even got stapled! Imagine if I didn't. My favorite element is the speed hill.
Can't say anything about Candymonium, but Intrimidator was worse than Apollo's Chariot. IDK, maybe I just got good rides on Apollo's, but one of the 2 rides actually had a proper moment of ejector and it was not Intrimidator.
Apollo looks much better, especially with the scenery. Although Intimidator does fit the theme since you drive cars on a parking lot, even if you don’t race them.
I agree that Candymonium fits in perfectly at the park. The new entrance is GORGEOUS. I did a highlights video of it a few months ago on the day they turned the fountain on - consider checking it out! I also 100% agree the name is terrible. I dont know why they went with that name....yikes. We were fortunate enough to get somewhere around 10 rides on my visit. The station was empty and we managed to stay seated for a majority of the rides in the back row. When I was there the park was rather empty.... The front row I found to be very very meh. Like, completely worthless and a waste of a ride. The back row was AMAZING though, it ranks as a good mid range Hyper for me. Decent layout, not overly long but a clean ride with some great views. It was certainly a B&M Hyper in every way. That twist dive is a fun drop, and the fountain is a beautiful kiss.
From an operations perspective, I honestly prefer Candymonium to Skyrush (and I have operated both). From an enthusiast perspective, I do find Skyrush to be more exciting, but Candymonium is definitely meant to be the crowd pleaser. That last airtime hill being trimmed does draw out the wrap around the fountain, which is a really unique element.
I agree that the ride feels short and gentle, but I really enjoyed it, especially since it's so silky smooth. I liken this to Gatekeeper in a way. I literally felt like I was just gently flying through this air. It's not a thrill ride per se, but it's certainly a joyride
I've been to Hersheypark recently and also ridden Candymonium 3 times in the same rows. (as well as Mako, DB, Intimidator, Nitro, & Goliath) A couple things I disagree with: The first drop (along with the first hill) had some of the best sustained airtime I've ever felt on a B&M hyper. I say it's also slightly better than Mako. This is also the only hyper I ridden where I think the front give a better experience than the back row. You'll still get flung, but that sensation of speed, plus the airtime in the front feels better. I felt that the length of the ride was just right, imo, and I prefer the fountain turnaround over the overbanked turns on Mako. Other than that, great video as always, even if I think your opinion is a little....skewed. 😇😁
I'm hoping to visit Hersheypark sometime in the next few years, and I'm excited to try Candymonium. My homepark is Wonderland and I love Behemoth (ngl I was slightly offended when you dissed it ;-D), and the only other B&M Hyper I've been on so far is Mako. Candymonium seems like a solid coaster.
This was my 1st B&M hyper. Drop and 1st hill were what I dreamed of, but after the mild turn around it was trim city. Ruined the 2nd hill, but the speed hill was still great. I thought the helix was strong too, and the outward drop was a good surprise. Second trim was even worse, although it did let me take in the fountain more so idk where I’m at on it. I would say my 2nd B&M hyper Nitro is above it.
Gotta say Candymonium is in upper tier. Rode it the day before opening day for 2020.. ejector in front was weird for a B&M Hyper and the length felt fine
Is it weird that the GP in Pittsburgh LOVE ejector airtime, positive G's, and intense inversions? Every coaster RUclipsr I've heard mentions rides being "Loved by enthusiasts, but too intense for the GP". Phantom and Skyrocket, 2 rides with good sustained ejector airtime and comfortable restraints, have consistent 15-30 minute waits, on normal days. Steel Curtain always has a 2 hour wait, though that may be because it is new.
I've ridden candymonium around 7 times since July 3rd. Honestly, I think it's a ride that grows on you. Does it crush all the other B&M hypers? No. Is it incredibly enjoyable, and a fun coaster? Hell yes. When I manage to get wiggle room with my restraint, I float over every single hill, even the last one before you go around the fountain. I think it settles itself very nicely into Hershey. It's not so intense to where when I'm leaving the park after being thrown around by all the other coasters, that I opt out. It's a perfect cherry on top to finish the day. Plus, when all the grass and such grows in, it'll will have very nice scenery. Oh, and that last trim break before the fountain is fine, because it slows you down, so you can enjoy going around the fountain. I think I'd like it less if it weren't there.
I went to Hersheypark for the first time July 4th weekend (so I’ve never ridden Storm Runner) and initially thought Fahrenheit was my favorite coaster in the park. My first ride on Candymonium felt a little boring in comparison. However, as our trip went on, Candymonium became my favorite coaster in the park because the airtime was fun, yet I could marathon it without needing a break. After 2 rides on Skyrush, my legs were so numb from the restraints and I had a headache from the rattle. I rode Candymonium 7 times in one hour without a headache or pain. Fahrenheit is still a great ride, but I think I did enjoy Candymonium better.
Hello there Airtime Thrills guy: You are forgetting that GCI is working on their own hybrid track and trains so Wildcat could be their first conversion as it was their first ever rollercoaster. Kinda makes sense if you think about it that way. They are actually testing the track on their coaster in Fun Spot Orlando and they do have trains capable of inversions now with their Infinity Flyer trains so RMC has some SERIOUS competition now or soon will have it and that is exciting for you enthusiasts of the coaster kind.
My current Rankings of B&M Hypers I have been on: 1. Diamondback 2. Goliath (SFOG) 3. Intimidator 4. Raging Bull I expect Mako and Candymonium to be in the Diamondback tier I expect Behemoth to be in the Goliath tier I expect Nitro to be in the Intimidator tier I expect Apollo's Chariot to be in the Raging Bull Tier
Nitro is a great ride. It’s been a while since I rode Apollo’s chariot but thought it was good. Nitro is better than both of them though (candemonium and Apollo’s chariot )

When I ride Orion it is also glossy smooth I feel no rattle at all.
I know right! I love Apollo's Chariot. The ride that got me into roller coasters
Apollo's is my number one out of just under 30
Candymonium is the GP hyper. Thankfully, Hersheypark called RMC and gave us something even better in 2023. I have the lawn ornament Steel Curtain above this.
Gonna go on it this month one day. Excited to try it out.
Great review as always!!! I’ve now got rides on multiple days and that first drop has been very good every time. Kinda backwards from your review tho because I hardly ever even notice that speed hill. Orion’s speed hill was much stronger. Great addition to the park tho and your right it’s very smooth.
But is it your favorite ride in the park? I know your a huge Mako fan
AirTime Myke I do love Mako and Candymonium is just as good but it’s not my favorite in the park....they have one VERY special machine close by
@@Okaycoasters They sure do and it's phenomenal
A California’s great America hyper would be great
Mack hyper
Can’t wait to see if it’s still smooth with the cool weather Nylon wheels lol
Mako is still my favorite B&M hyper, but Candymonium is my 2nd favorite. I love that there's no rattle, and I love the visuals during the ride. It's hard for me to tell much of a difference in strength of airtime on B&M hypers. They're all good floater, maybe borderline ejector on occasion, but I can't tell much of a difference. So unique elements, good visuals, and smoothness are always the things that make me differentiate.
Hey airtime do you think six flags st.louis will get a new coaster this year
I've only been on Nitro, Goliath, and Candymonium. And I'd say it's my favorite B&M hyper so far.
This is my favorite coaster at the park, and I've been there a LOT. I rarely touched my seat (good floater) and the helix was intense! Definitely a must ride.
There’s this trim i hate on Apollo’s after the mid-course. So be prepared, if the mid course hits the trim wont or vise versa
I'm looking forward to see if the speed hill is better than Mako's which is my current favorite B&M Hyper
I haven't ridden this coaster yet, but it looks along the lines of a mid tier B&M hyper, but not quite Mako, Diamondback or Intimidator tier.
I got some strong airtime on Apollo Saturday.
When are you goin to come back to lagoon??
I only got one ride on this, and the first trim was on and definitely put a damper on the rest of the ride. Was slightly disappointed but the airtime was still solid and it was absolutely the smoothest ride I can remember being on. After my most recent trip I'd put it probably 2nd or 3rd behind Fahrenheit or Skyrush (I had an incredible first ride on this even though the thigh crusher is real)
Im headed to this park next year! Can't wait!
I’m glad I am not so critical when I ride coasters. I ride them to have fun and I sure as Hell had a lot of fun on Candymonium!!
What are your top 5 hypers?
I liked this ride, but is only the number 4 in the park for me. 4. Candymonium 3. Great bear 2. Storm runner 1. Skyrush🐐
I, going this Friday! I’m a little scared to go on it though. Is the first drop that scary?
Honestly the name is quirky and unique and I kinda like it. Now steel curtain, however...
...btw, when are you back on East Central Atlantic area?? Would enjoy meeting you at area park.
Wait... I have been to Hershey 10 times this season and the trims have hit EVERY SINGLE RIDE I have had.
What do u think of skyrush now still thigh crush or do u actually like it
Do you sleep in your car on you road trips? How do you travel?
I agree that the ride feels short and gentle, but I really enjoyed it, especially since it's so silky smooth. I liken this to Gatekeeper in a way. I literally felt like I was just gently flying through this air. It's not a thrill ride per se, but it's certainly a joyride
I've been to Hersheypark recently and also ridden Candymonium 3 times in the same rows. (as well as Mako, DB, Intimidator, Nitro, & Goliath) A couple things I disagree with:
The first drop (along with the first hill) had some of the best sustained airtime I've ever felt on a B&M hyper.
This coaster may be sweet but that doesn't mean it's friendly.
The first review of Candymonium I've seen that's not a rave. I really love it, and think the stellar pacing makes up for the shorter length.
Yo what?! Ya lost me at Apollo's Chariot being weak. Haha Definitely one of my favorite coasters of all time.
I love riding Candymonium!!!
Skyrush: *Oh, your approaching me?*
Candymonium: *Yes, my 3 extra feet will defeat you!*
I'm surprised no one talks about the length but I was surprised with your ranking
I have candymonium in my top 15 I got some great rides on and I thought the airtime was great.
WE STILL NEED COLOR SCHEME VIDEO!
Hello there Airtime Thrills guy:
You are forgetting that GCI is working on their own hybrid track and trains so Wildcat could be their first conversion as it was their first ever rollercoaster.
They should rename Skyrush SkyChris because he likes it so much
he said unfortunately it’s called candymonium 💀💀 ... gosh I love this channel
My current Rankings of B&M Hypers I have been on:
1. Diamondback
2. Goliath (SFOG)
3. Intimidator
4. Raging Bull
I expect Mako and Candymonium to be in the Diamondback tier
I expect Behemoth to be in the Goliath tier
I expect Nitro to be in the Intimidator tier
I expect Apollo's Chariot to be in the Raging Bull Tier
Diamondback is by far the best hyper. PERIOD.
@@cathedralsedm agreed

Nitro is a great ride. It’s been a while since I rode Apollo’s chariot but thought it was good. Nitro is better than both of them though (candemonium and Apollo’s chariot )
