    The added electrical little box with 2 terminals is a 30amp circuit breaker for power to that dual battery isolator box. They're also used for the charge wire going to a trailer plug.

    Never let others drag you down, at least you’re enjoying yourself n learning how to wrench! Definitely need to take the Truck down to frame, address the rust on the farm there is products to treat it n stop the rust.
    Fix all the body rust, clean it good n paint or clear coat it but stopping the rust is key,
    You got the new drive train coming, but you must replace every wire in that truck they are donezo! That truck must have been flooded at some point!
    Vehicles need quality grounds or nothing works right!
    Need to put all new lights n fixtures the old ones are corroded n need replaced.
    I would recommend electronic ignition n fuel injection it’s the easiest way to get the engine running properly n you won’t have to worry about gas fouling your carburetor, new gas sux ass!
    But look 👀 forward to seeing you work, you definitely like things clean neat n orderly! That’s what makes you fun to watch!

    If everything is toast on that thing, it would be a great candidate for a short bed conversion. I had a '67 half ton short bed with the 390/C-6 in it. I loved it too. Yours would look better with "grandpa accessories" taken off too.

    I would nix the ideal of the rear fuel tank unless you are going to remove the pickup bed. I have a 1992 F150 with dual tanks. I had to replace both fuel tanks after I bought the truck in July 0f 2014. The front tank was a piece of cake but the read tank was a pain in the butt. I did this with the pickup bed still on the truck. If you are set on a rear tank than you are going to have to add a fuel door on the side of the truck bed . I'm guess the best way to do that is to cut one out of a later model pickup bed that has a rear fuel tank and grafting it to the 68 truck bed.

    • @MaxGiganteum
      @MaxGiganteum 5 месяцев назад

      -- I concur with the addition of an end of the bed, between the rails, Mustang type fuel tank. You must account for getting gas INTO the tank after installing one. The two basic schools of thought there are the side of the bed inlet or the up through the bed inlet. Which is easier? Most folks agree that the bed floor inlet is the far easier way to go. The one main downside is that the inlet is on the bed floor... so if you haul anything in the bed that covers up the inlet, you've got to remember to make sure you've got plenty of gas in the tank before loading up and covering the inlet! A lesser downside for some folks is that you're cutting an opening in the bed floor. If your bed is in poor shape, that may not mean much but if it's in good shape or better? It makes you want to cringe when you cut it open. My best advice for a bed floor opening is to fab up a solid tube with a locking cap that is held in place via a fabbed up bracket which bolts to the frame (you may be able to scavenge pre-made and useable parts from an existing vehicle so look into that!). You can connect it to the tank with a flexible rubber fuel line. Mount it so that the locking cap is below the bed floor! For a cover, use the piece of the bed floor that you carefully cut out. Fab up some plates which can be welded to the bottom side of the bed... which your "cover" can sit on. Yes, some folks will make a hinged arraignment for the cover but that takes more fab work. How does it all work... does it work? Yes, if you plan it out and do a good job. How does it look? That all depends on your fab skills and how much time you put into it! I've seen cringeworthy, Johnny Gas Hatchet butchery and I've also seen top notch, show worthy beauty. What you end up with depends on the effort and skill you put into it. For top notch results... plan it out and mock it up. You can accomplish a very accurate mock-up with cardboard and duct tape so don't be afraid to pick up some boxes and tape from the grocery store while you're there. You'll thank yourself if you do. Best wishes!

Also yes when get all clean underneath hood would spray bomb so paint of red and black on rust spots so looks nice ! Also when do Carburetor orders if don't want hand choke cable just manual one not electric to but use Choke cable for hold throttle open when starting up engine or like Cruise Control with gas pedal be done to that before! Also C6 transmission think clutches plates or broke gears has happened CT that metal parts from in transmission pan ! Best get complete rebuilt one for sure and new electrical wire harness all parts need! Speedometer cable yes get new one too be great idea's! Looking forward more videos too soon watch on this truck !

The front put some Jack stands under it. And it could've been slipped right out and out me. You're making things difficult for yourself.

You grabbed a bunch of things one by one and promptly threw them out of the engine bay and onto the concrete. Junk the transmission. I think those are pieces of the gears in the transmission. Don't think it's salvageable. Be better getting one off a junk yard truck . That truck went through a lot of water, seal broke and flooded transmission with water causing it to lock up.

      -- Pieces of gears?!? I saw no pieces of any gear. What might have been in the pan were pieces of the friction plates from a clutch pack but it isn't easy to tell via the video footage. As for being salvageable, I saw no reason that this trans cannot be rebuilt. NONE. In fact, that's what I'd do - break it down, clean it up, fully inspect it then put it back together. I'll concede that there might be some undesirable things going on inside the case but you'll find out what's what upon disassembly. Based on what was in the pan, I doubt there will be any catastrophic damage. Best wishes!
