Beyond Titles: The Grand Slam Match Win Kings of the Open Era
The Grand Slams - Wimbledon, Roland Garros, US Open, and Australian Open - are the pinnacle of achievement in tennis. Lifting a Grand Slam trophy signifies greatness, but who truly reigns supreme when it comes to sheer dominance on the court? This video goes beyond titles and explores the MEN'S SINGLES PLAYERS WITH THE MOST MATCH WINS IN THE OPEN ERA (since 1968).
The Endurance Factor:
Winning a Grand Slam title requires peak performance for two weeks, but accumulating the most match wins is a testament to a player's consistency and longevity. These players have battled through grueling matches, year after year, etching their names in Grand Slam history.
The Big Three in Focus:
It's no surprise that the "Big Three" - Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal - dominate discussions about Grand Slam success. Their rivalry has redefined the sport, and unsurprisingly, they occupy the top spots in terms of match wins. Djokovic currently holds the record, showcasing his incredible consistency across all surfaces.
Beyond the Big Three:
While the Big Three reigns supreme, other legends deserve recognition. Players like Jimmy Connors, who holds the record for most ATP Titles wins (including non-Grand Slam tournaments), and Andre Agassi, known for his aggressive baseline play, also boast impressive Grand Slam match win totals.
A Testament to Greatness:
The list of players with the most Grand Slam match wins is a who's who of tennis royalty. It celebrates not just champions, but warriors who have pushed themselves to the limit on the biggest stages. Dedication, skill, and unwavering determination are the hallmarks of these players who have redefined Grand Slam dominance.
Looking Ahead:
The Open Era continues to evolve, with new stars emerging each year. While the Big Three might be nearing the twilight of their careers, it will be fascinating to see if future generations can challenge their Grand Slam match win records. This list serves as a reminder that greatness extends beyond titles, and the players with the most match wins have carved their own unique place in tennis history.

These three are exceptional players, in a different league. Unbelievable consistency over their entire careers
Novak Djokovic GOAT and greatest athlete!❤
Hahahahaha no, its Roger
Djokovic, Rafa, and Roger are special. 🎉
look at how high the number of games won by the big 3 are compared to the rest of the players in the open era
look how much slams they played
You know that generation was special when all them got more than 1000 games between all, almost 70 trophies, in basically the same timeframe, this is just nuts whoever it’s the best I don’t care, I’m just happy I get to love tennis because this monsters where on the tv while I was growing up
Andy Murray only 3 title grand Slam for 200 matches won grand slam
He was unlucky to have Federer or Djokovic in most of his finals he lost 8 out of 11.
Djokovic break all federer record federer has lucky Wimbledon 2020 cancel for COVID
Records are made for broken....jannik sinner time 😊
@@sanjaykumarpal290 doping time?
@milanm403 doesn't matter....records should be broken....especially hard courts records
nope; he won't have the most Wimbledon titles; and Djokovic got lucky to win the 2019 Wimbledon
In modern day you have to win 7 matches to win a slam, yet Rod Laver won 11 slams and apparently ONLY 60 slam matches, so does that mean back in his day they only played 5 matches in a slam??
AO started with 128 players draw / 7 matches tournament only from 1988.
@@Tennis_Expert What about the other 3 slams?
6 of Rod Laver’s 11 slams were before Open Era (the first grand slam in the Open Era was 1968 French Open)
Imagine Murray stats without the Big 3
Imagine my stats without the Big 10.000
That’s a tough one. Usually Murray raises his game when playing against tougher opponents. The Big 4 - Nadal, Djoker, Federer and Wawrinka brought the best out of Murray
Murray would have been one of the greats had it not been for all the injuries in his prime
@@jengelbrecht7096 that could be said about other players…not all players are injury free
Murray also used to play a lot of tournaments and his playing style was that he never used to give up on points - he used to hunt every ball down hence now his body is battered
It shows both Federer and Djokovic are good players on all types of courts
Nadal too he won at least 2 slams on every surface he missed many slams due to injury
THE GOAT.
For me all three are GOATs in their own way : Djoker, Federer and Nadal!
I agree, Federer for his style, Federer for his forehand and Federer for his beavior. 3 are perfect in their own way: Federer, Federer and, of course, Federer.
@@fabrizziolevoni849 I love this! Nice comment.
Djoko have all the numbers
@@fabrizziolevoni849 I must admit, Federer was a freak of nature, raw talent and exciting to watch with his creative shot making, unmatched by any other…
Does me or you matter No it doesn't
Only based on stats feelings don't matter otherwise
For me delpo is goat he was the most loveable
I think Djokovic had even more reason to retire from Roland Garros because he was cognizant of the fact that he had just broken Federer's record. His motivation at the end of the day is to break all records : he has openly said so.
Left ATP titles
However, he has yet to break the record of "eldest grand slam champion in open era", trailing behind Ken Rosewell and Federer in this record. He needs to win either 2024 US open or 2025 AO to break the record
@@wonderwind2716Ken is 1st, so including Federer is not necessary
He does want to break Federer’s record, hence thank you for mentioning Federer
But you also can't keep playing with a torn miniscus something...
Djokovic GOATTTTT
There are two type of tennis fans. Those who know who is the undisputed GOAT, and those in denial.
Nadal has 2 more Slams than Federer with 54 victories less. Rafa is a legend.
Roland Garros merchant
That isn't something to brag about. That means Rafa lost in early stages of all other GrandSlam tournaments beside Roland Garos. Federer having more wins means he was way more consistent overall than Rafa.
@@peolfpetler8500wrong Rafa missed many slams due to injury
@@AMINOMMARafa has won at least 2 slams at all grand slams
Now, Chang is a student in a community college and was once a Spanish teacher.
No one of the Big 3 is definitively better than the other 2. Roger, Rafa and Novak are all GOATs along with Rod Laver.
There’s the big 3 and then a huge gap to #4. It’s absolutely insane that they all played at the same time.
Well, that's why they are called the BIG 3, because they were on a different level. 🔥
greatest 5 athletes of individual sports :
1-Novak Djokovic .
2- Muhammad Ali .
3- Usain Bolt .
4- Michael Phelps .
5- Aleksandr Karelin .
I prefer use "sportsman" cause "athlete" I think is more for fisical cualities. I don't think that Nole can beat Jon Jones in a 100 meter dash, a fight, jump, force. Maybe I'm wrong.
And *Michael Jordan.*
@@VashTheStampede4KHe said "individual sports"
@@nguyenai1337
I don't care. Michael Jordan is the real G.O.A.T. of his sport, dude.
@@VashTheStampede4K yes. But the commenter taklking about "individual sport", not "team sport".
Just look at the longevity of jimmy Connor’s stats
Hell of a run for Connors.

NOLE THE GOAT
Novak the GOAT
RF always..
Agassi always the most complete player
Thanks to the media's 'catchy phrases' ,adopting Grand Slams instead of the majors, they have demeaned Rod Lavers' accomplishments. 'Grand Slam' originally meant winning all four majors within a calendar year. Not one of todays stars have won one grand slam and Laver won that amazing feat, TWICE!" Facts mean nothing to the media today nor to the players who never mention Laver in this debate so, who is the only G.O.A.T why, Rod Laver, of course.
Ok, but when he won the Grand Slam in 1962 and 1969 3 of the 4 Grand Slam tornaments were played on grass. And in 1962 before the open era only amateurs were allowed to play the Grand Slam tornaments.
🥇🐐
Nole y Rafa son los mayores monstruos que he visto. Roger por el que pagaría una entrada para verlo contra cualquiera
Que edad tienes, 😂
Without Rafa and Roger Djokovic would have 30+ GL
Murray falls far short of the level of the Big 3. It's wrong to call him one of the Big 4
C'est vieux ca!
La NOUVELLE 🎉🎉🎉
If Murray didn’t get injured he’d be 4th. Such a shame being a huge fan of his.
If Sampras didn't get injuried… if Federer didn't get the mono… etc., etc.
@@rosebud3373 not the same is it. Every player gets injured at some point. Not everyone gets injured in their prime and takes at least 5 good years away from

Novak Djokovic is the one who won most Grand Slams matches in history. Why you put federer at the top? 👎👎👎👎
Master roger forever 🫡🫡
Federer is the best and THE GOAT, Novak is the second
so, how many more titles and wins does the second have compared to your goat? x)
I dont understand how a Goat less than second in every numbers.
@@gorila987k That means something but not everything.
The entire package and what whom brung to the sport is part of it too - Federer's best is the best we've seen from anyone on planet earth.
He is easily the most gifted tennis player ever seen.

For me all three are GOATs in their own way : Djoker, Federer and Nadal!
Titles is only important!!!!
Lol, are you taking the piss?
And you have none.
