How tough it was to make a place in the top 3 during 2006-2010 for Djokovic
    He had to beat :
    NALBANDIAN n°26 ( former n°3 )
    RODDICK n°3

Djokovic s father in particular; was putting out stuff about how his son had Feds measure almost from the get go ( around that 2008 AO win). Djokovic himself , to his credit mostly defused the situation by saying his father was overly enthusiastic about his son's progress to the top - or to that effect , and that he himself was just another player trying to be the best he can be etc
Don't believe he ever big noted himself during that earlier half of his playing career as his father did.

Yes, there were definitely a few things I observed of Federer over the years when I questioned his class. I remember back in 2007 at the Australian Open. Fernando González was playing like a beast that tournament. Federer was interviewed after his semi win and asked about González and how well he was playing. Federer's response was something to the effect "he can't improve that much", which I thought was a very disrespectful response considering he absolutely smashed Nadal and Haas in the quarters and semi. The final was one of those matches where González lost because he was playing Federer (lost before he stepped onto the court). The same happened with Marcos Baghdatis the year before.

In Nadal and Djokovic, Federer finally found players who could both attack his backhand and run down his forehands, each in their own way: Nadal with his topspin forehand, Novak with his nonstop, powerful depth. Novak presented the additional challenge of being able to attack Roger's forehand with his, forcing Roger to change directions or into errors which I think shook up his confidence since no one else was capable of that.

Novak yet to win a Slam. Roger at this time had 12 Slams to his name while Nadal had 3. 10 years on Roger had 19 Slams while Nadal had16 and Novak on 12. Who would have known when watching a young Novak, he would not only become very successful in his head2head against Roger & Nadal but more importantly surpass both with winning what every tennis player plays for: The Slams. Let's see what the next generation can do. Doubt there will ever be another great 3 like Roger/Nadal Novak that can excite us and put us on edge when watching them play against our favourite player in their bid to win slams. All the best for 2025 Novak. You are already the best as apart from the slams you have not only won every trophy there is to win in tennis but you have won all the slams at least three times and the tournaments all at least twice -well actually all 3 times except one-maybe this year you can correct that but in the end you did it. You are the most successful tennis player of all time. Novak is second to none.

Not to sound too harsh but honestly for everyone who was not avidly watching tennis back then, and who are commenting on Roger being arrogant during the handshake, it's important to remember that Novak came firing out of the gate as the main villain in tennis. And it wasn't even a Medvedev-like tactic in the sense of being kind of an a-hole just to be funny and entertaining. He was a constant prick to seemingly everyone including players, fans, media, etc. He couldn't stop himself. Honestly no judgement by me, but in truth he was a young narcissistic jerk and was liked by almost no one for several years. Entirely by his doing. Not just because everyone loved Fed so much. For this reason along with their competitive nature, the two of them were not warm and fuzzy at all for quite some time, so that particular handshake doesn't mean anything. Luckily Novak did improve his image and reputation, but took much too long for a lot of long time tennis fans to be patient.

Pete sampras,he havent changed his racket ...90 cm the same time all others use 98+..pete even more stubborn 85cm,when fed switch to 97 he has another player,i think he should SV more,he havent the serve of Pete but he was the top voller in his era, actually after pete and henmann had retired just him he knew the serve and volley 😂

it looked really bad here but tbh it always caught my eye how weak his BH was.
what also caught my eye is how big Djokovic's FH looked. Was that a conscious choice to change the mechanics and tighten it up/go for less?

Looking at the stats, it’s all pointing to a Federer win: more points, more winners, more aces and better win % on first serve, more breaks of serve. This happened other times as well. It’s frustrating, but certainly not cringe like reading the garbage from Djoko fans.

@@AndrewTheAceManhe was more than a little lucky to win more than one slam in 2023 - his draws in 3 of the slams of 23 were laughable - I e during the A.o open he didn't face one seeded player until the semi !
Apart from a very weak field in the mens game during 2020 to mid 2023 - very very easy draws throughout the period has helped Djokovic enormously rack up the numbers.
Numbers alone don't tell the story I reckon

The game at 5:6 in the first set shows how much Nole is better than Roger. Mentally hes just several classes ahead of Roger. Roger has talen but in that came could only stay in it for so long because he was a serve bot but when Nole got the point back in play, it was all him and Roger was totally scared like a victim in a horror movie. (I would wanna bring attention to 5:50 - first serve 75% won for roger but second serve 35% while Nole had 63% and 69% which shows how much more powerful Nole was actually than Roger in the match and Roger just had his serve as a saving grace.)

Go back to Federer in 2001 or even 2002, when he was the same age as Novak here or even older, and you will find him moaning more and hitting the net with his racket when he was losing to Nalbandian and the rest of his companions, and at that time he did not even have a single Masters title in his possession. Then you will know who is the real boss? 😎
