The propress guys are up in arms with you.. why you going old school?? LOL
nice tutorial Mikey
Nice touch with the flux, post-soldering.
Oh boy, its gona snow tomorrow, Mikey Pipes is SOLDERING!
Nice
I need a soldering lesson
Thank you
Great job on not smoking Mike!!!
Saw DeSantis in person on Friday in Broward. Amazing guy and amazing crowd.
Great video Mike!
Love the old school sweat box, and btank tips 💰🔥
The guy with the dog and the bread truck is great at soldering pipe.
Mikey!
Good to see you!
I watch all your content
You know that!!
Did you get my email with a long ass video I gave you 🤣
I loved soldering at school
I learned the secret from you ! Bend the solder to easy to get around the pipe
Thanku mikey I needed this 😊 my soldering isn't the greatest seems like no matter how hard I try I get snot drips down the copper
Definitely the way to go with the soldering on the steam generator line
U could use propress if u Field change out the o rings but Soldering is the best way to go.
I was also taught to solder the lower fitting first when doing them vertically, to avoid a snotty joint , the amount of solder is the pipe size ( ? ) 1/2 pipe 1/2 " of solder
Congratulations on continuing to be smoke-free!
You can also use press fittings for those steam generators. I’ve installed a couple of them that way.
@@PipeDoctor Thatta boy. I’m only 28, but sometimes I sweat a job or two when I feel the urge to polish my skills.
I don't have a problem with press fittings for water they are fine I have seen no real issues. I may be biased because I'm an HVAC/R tech and I have see too many leaking zoomlock and lokring fittings (OEM factory installed ones mind you) so I don't trust them for refrigeration, but I just don't see why everyone is pushing press fittings so hard, they are fine but so is sweating some pipe. I have seen some keyboard warriors that get pretty hostile about it and I had 1 guy even try to argue that "if you don't use propress you're not a professional", I think that guy was just trying to justify his $2500 tool though.
@@keldon_champion I worry about those o rings failing 20 yrs from now
@@kevinhoffman8214 long term it does worry me a little, I generally solder unless there is good reason not to, but I also don't judge people for using press fittings either
I remember back when I started plumbing, we used to use 50/50 on everything. Then they passed to no lead solder and 95/5 was about the only other for a while till Silver Bright and other brands came out.
@@PipeDoctor Pulled the leaver to vote too. And will again tomorrow.
Great video Mikey Pipes as always! Why is it important to add Flux again to the pipe after soldering the joint. I've seen people in videos do this before, but they never explained exactly why!
@Mikey Pipes - Pipe Doctor Plumbing & Heating & Air Thanks Mikey Pipes!
You should check out nokorode flux. It’s a good flux that causes very little oxidation. I’ve left joints without wiping them for a couple weeks using nokorode and I only get a small spot or 2 of green oxidation. Since I tried it out, it’s the only flux I use now. I’m a Comercial plumber so I sweat every joint I install. Nokorode saves me a lot of time not having to wipe my joints. All my work gets insulated so a couple spots of oxidation doesn’t really bother me but if my piping was exposed and uninsulated I would likely still wipe my joints.
Zeldin all the way!
You are the man and a crazy sob for soldering that close to foam insulation
@@PipeDoctor yup for a guy who makes stax off that pro press shit (quote by sl) you still got the fire power too lol
Everybody does it a little differently. And differing municipal codes require sweat joints over propress on steam. We use a dry rag to wipe snotted sweat joints.
If I hired a plumber and he showed up with that 1980 gold bracelet on his wrist, I’d fire him immediately.
YES post flux and wipe down is a must!!! and it makes things look pretty for the customer. :) Also for note (and I assume here as a DIY guy) that pex can't handle the temp of steam. (I think pex has a highend temp of 180? for safe usage ) This why copper is the best choice here right Mikey??
I've always enjoyed sweating copper. It's really becoming a lost art. My joints aren't always as clean looking as yours because I dont do it all that often but I still enjoy it nonetheless. You ever run into situations of having to sweat large sized copper, like 2" or bigger?
I'm voting for Lee Zeldin tomorrow morning!!!! As Mikey says... Every vote counts!!!!
👍👍
Could you use a benzo torch to do these?

Bernzomatic as in hand held fuel tank with torch head attached? yes
he means hand held tank with torch head attached
Not to poke fun or talk shit, but it was just too ironically funny.
"The solder will want to suck into the fitting, don't worry about gravity."
-Solder immediately starts dripping down the pipe-
What’s up with that big notch in the beam by where u came up for the toilet
Lee Zeldin all the way baby ,
900 more subs and we are going to have one hell of a pool party!
👍
Man it is always nerve raking when you have to solder with and torch and the wood around it starts smoking.
How come you don't wear safety glasses when soldering?
I solder my pipes the exact same way
@@PipeDoctor the highlight of my day besides making my customers happy
Mail in ballots are a convenience for me. I take my time to select who I want to vote for
Just like your wife putting on lipstick. The flam is always your friend😅
Putting flux inside the fitting is wrong… it gets pushed when inserting the pipe so the solder will be sucked inside and create turbulence
Please inform those voting for Brandon to vote on Wednesday.
Hi guys
@@PipeDoctor Howd ya know lol
Love my puter for sure
Finally some real copper work without the cheesey crimp fittings
