Metal Detecting : Old Artifacts, Coins and MOAR!

- Today, we search a colonial-era homesite with a metal detector. The home site is out in the middle of a farm field that was last planted in soybeans. The buttons, coins, and artifacts were plentiful, and much fun was had by me. Weird-looking contrails overhead on this day.

What's up with the weird contrails that look like a missile barrage, with one exploding overhead in the thumbnail?
I hope you enjoy the video!

Thanks for watching…. The Chigg
That square piece could be a small step to a surrey.
Yes a Trunk Handle, but the box on the back of an old vehicle where you kept the wheel jack, your starting handle and your driving boots, which is why in England we call the Trunk, The Boot. About you trousers (pants), 7" x 3" piece of leather glued with contact Adhesive fuzzy side up.... purrfect! Just a thought.
Chigg, you know that night crawlers are not indigenous to the USA. They were introduced by Europeans. Our great, great, great, greats. Google it if you wanna check for yourself.
That went on the end of the hood on a 1975 Lincoln Mark 5. KIDDING.
I saw that ... contrails are secret spray ... jokes HA HA!! .. I am glad you didn't run for the hills ....
That square hinged thing looks like a step on a wagon
Maybe a handle that was on the side of a treasure chest?
Selling replacement buttons must have been a good gig back in the day. 😂
Maybe it's a tip off a flag pole, the pointy bit of copper.
That large mystery item looks like a step-up for a wagon or cart.
Good evening from Syracuse NY and thank you for sharing your adventures in meral detection
Lines lines everywhere there’s lines blocking up the scenery blowing my mind.
"Can't you read the signs?" 🎶🎵
Chem-trails gallor😳😳
Looks like they getting ready to play tic tac toe…..
For sure.
I live in Scotland, we get plenty rain under normal circumstances, but its rained constantly for the past year. I've never seen it like this.
Chemtrails every day! Its utterly depressing!
Contrails not chemtraills
Yay for new permissions! Good luck. 🍀
The handle reminds me of some kind of latch, where the bottom part acts as mechanism to hold or lock something as it's turned.
The tombac buttons reminded me that a "Button Review" would be helpful, knowing the types of construction, materials, and design. You did a great job with projectiles.
You need to disguise yourself by wearing coveralls, a straw hat, and a pipe. I can supply a pipe if you need one!
I like the fact that your wife is a veterinarian so when you are out in the wild and come across an animal that needs help I am confident that animal would be most lucky like that sweet little fox.
Gorgeous day out!
The square folding piece is a step to a wagon
Just think, Chigg, 100 years from now, some detectors will be excited to find a pull tab.
Thanks for sharing! Enjoyed watching.
I just thinking for those days you cant dig and want to do a video, maybe an educational type video might work. Like how to tell all the civil war buttons apart, civil war bullets apart, your favorite find, your more historical find, differences in coins like how do you know its a copper coin, the differences in buttons, your favorite place you have dug...you know..interesting but educational. Just a thought!
Longer videos on the days you go on your adventures. Would be my suggestion as a longtime viewer and a fan. You would be surprised how many of us would watch multiple hour videos of your adventures or you sharing your experiences.
@@guesswho343I would definitely binge watch that 😂
Even the crazy collection mr Chigg must have would be cool in little 10-15 minute videos
Looks like a good day of hunting👍
Good afternoon from Southeast South Dakota
'Evening
Pembrokeshire , Wales , UK . 21:30 .
Chigg,your channel is aces! 👍
In the UK thats a LOB WORM .
Hey Chigster. 👋🏻😃 That was quite the button day with the added bonus of a nice big copper!! That cuff link was really nice. Where’d the cool music go at the end?? 😬 Thanks for sharing, take care and be lucky. Deano. 🇬🇧🇺🇸😃👍🏻
Chigg, I was thinking about you yesterday... I got a new permission and the property has a tributary that connects two lakes. There was a family of 18 beavers living there, but doing much damage to the homeowners trees, so a couple years ago they had to relocate several and one was 90-pounds! If he would have bite you, I think that would have had more severe consequences 😂
For sure. A 90 pounder is massive. I've trapped 60 pounders and they were beasts.

Chiggs, nice button finds and loved the cuff link. The contrails in the sky were cool. Looks like a promising area for future detection. 👍👏😀
The square artifact. It's a folding wagon toe step. They were attached to the side of a wagon or carriage.
Nice Beau. GR8 Finds
I believe it's a step from a buggy chig
I am convinced now that you are doing those jet plane selfies on purpose!
Great hunt Chigg✌❤
Nice spot. Thanks for sharing.
The video quality of your camera is Epic!!!
Hey Chigg, do you think someday you could do a video of the different types of buttons you've found over the years and the variety of names one button can have? I think that would be fun ... I was amazed how fast you knew that first find was a Tombac. And yeah, what was with the contrails today? Sheesh ... Busy sky! - Thanks for the videos, Chigg! - Muddypaw 🐾
Awesome finds and stupid clouds.
i think the square hinge thingy is like a pick up handle for a box or a crate of some sort found similar ones made of iron in the past
Nice hunt and finds!
Hey chigg Giving you a shout out from the Berkshires MA We bought an early 1800s home and can’t wait to pass the harp around the property
Ultra button. 🇺🇸
Do you recycle the scrap metal you find !!!!????
Without handling to determine how sturdy it is, the “handle” thingy reminds me of a fold-away step for farm machinery. Found similar on the Interwebs, but can’t paste here.
we have the same clouds here 🤣
Very nice, very old finds, Chigg!❤
Another awesome video, thanks so much
I think the rectangular object is a buggy step.
Enjoyed this dig ,great stuff 👍
You answered one of my Questions about a GW button Thanks - As much as you detect, your Time's a comin!
That’s a nice looking shovel better than the spade shovel
12:57 handle from the treasure chest, find the rainbow for the next clue.
Thanks Chigg
Great video. I want to see MOAR !
Wow you have as many chemtrails as we do!
Hey Chigg and whoever is with you if they are
The handle reminds me of a stove or fireplace handle for lifting for moving.
The button with the star design at 7:05…..Todd from AHD found one just like it. The pattern looks exactly the same.
i think that unknown cool thing you dug was a colonial gopro mount and faceplate. :D
Hi Chigg. Could the square part be maybe a reins guide on a buggy or wagon? Have a good one. Great digs, and alot of air trails in the sky.👍🙂😘
Damn, a lot of chemtrails!!! It ruins the sky when they do that. Never had so many back in the day. Great finds, Chigg!!
Super Cool Moarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Lots of chemtrails on this hunt.. wow.
Contrails. It's not chemicals.
@@hothmobile100
That big buckle looking thing at 12:45 is a latch probably for a panel of some sort and would hinge down to get out of the way.
Heck with the finds. Did you put the worm back in the hole? 😂 Great stuff Chigg.
Greetings from South Tyrol
Good button day! That square greener? I've seen that somewhere? I'm curious too. Rk.
Hello Chigg, okay I'm asking the knowledgeable one, something for ya to ponder about: Why don't the Tomback buttons have "Tom" printed on the back?😊 Be safe and take care, "God Bless", sincerely, Randy. 😇🙏👊
Only awesome opossums breath that way in the mic
13:02 looks like either a drawer pull or a folding handle off a trunk.
Uncle Chiggles is a nice high squeaker, said the wobbly kitten.
Looks like you found an old button factory. 😂
Did you happen upon a tailor’s shop or where the owner may have had a sewing room, Chigg?
Just looking at the handle thing I'd say it's actually a latch of some kind. It looks old but the end opposite the square end reminds me of a tool box lock
Hello, ive been following your vids for quite awhile. I love your style . Ive hunted a good bit in the past and though many ups and downs i fell out. Well tomm i get a brand new detector and am back in the game. Ive found a few good finds in the valley and have quite a few spots. It would be cool to connect.
Good luck!
@@aquachigger is there a way to pm you? Got a cabin gw stayed in. Hit it for an hour yesterday. Wouñd be cool to have your expertise
27th like, awesome video, im thinking about metal detecting at a park i live behind, im sure ill find something nice
Good deal
Xs marks your spot. Since I have yet to turn on my machine. Looks like you fared good.
zipper pull at 9:30
Locking handle of some type
Antique GoPro mount.
How can so many people lose so many buttons,I've never lost a button in my entire life.
Hey Chig, wonder why so many buttons in that area?
Note to self - if ever detecting with Chigg, schedule it for day after Laundry Day.
Coukd that large rectangular relic be a step to a carriage?
👊🤩👍
What exactly do you mean when you say Tom Back when talking about the button
It looks like a buggy step
It’s a footstep for buggy
Are all the buttons found in a rowlike a close line
🙂
Just a little bump.
Thanks so much, Tom!
@@aquachigger Welcome.
👍⭐️
Could it be a rains guide for a buggy?
At 12:30, a buggy or wagon step?
Carraige / Wagon step?
yeah, odd button to coin ratio.
Give me MOAR (not LECC) breathing so I can get a real feel for your level of determination. 😅
Dam son you are a button hound today .where's the gold
Drawer pull?
Could it have been a buggy step?
😎👌👍✌.
Are you over an old button factory or what??
I never did see an eagle
Rein guide for a wagon?
