When i was in active heroin/fentanyl addiction, I've had to self-express several massive abscesses caused by bacteria from reusing rigs. I went to the ER the first time I got one, and they were not nice about it at all. I didn't even have 20% numbing while they pressed and stabbed and scraped at me. That treatment kept me from going back to the hospital whenever I would develop another abscess. Now, I see videos like this and it just reminds me how horrible my addiction was on my body. After all of the pain, digging into myself trying to find a vein, missing shots and ending up with abscesses... Yet none of that was enough to make me stop doing it to myself... I thank God for snapping me out of it and helping me with my recovery.
And a big “fuck you” to the Emergency doctors for not anaesthetising you sufficiently because of their biases towards addicts. They determined that you were not worthy of receiving the best possible care they could give because of your illness.
As an emergency doctor, I would like to offer my apologies for the abysmal service you received. Sadly, there is a strong possibility that you were treated so poorly because they classed your discomfort as "drug seeking" and allowed policy and regs to override basic common sense (that common sense being that treating abscesses is painful for the patient). Understanding is getting better as society begins to understand addiction better, but it is counterbalanced by high levels of burnout amongst staff (to be clear, that's not an excuse). We're not there yet and we need to do better. On a more positive note, I'm truly heartened to read that you are in recovery. Fantastic news! I wish you every success as you continue your fight, and hope you are blessed with good health and happiness 💖

When I was a lot younger, only 12 years old, I had a cyst on my lower arm and in those days my grandmother made a mix of Oxidine brown soap with brown sugar, making a paste that she put on the cyst, that she covered with a large a rag band-aid. After a couple of days the cyst irrupted and a long yellow greenish 1/4 inch round by 3 to 4 inch long worm like think came out of my arm leaving me with a 1/4 inch round scar that I can still see today. There was no pain no fuss. Thank you Grandmother for the memory I will never forget you !
I love that you take the time to get it all!!! I had a perianal cyst that was severely painfully dealt with one time! Then a second time under local and stitched up, then 6 months later. I went to the emergency in such severe pain they put me under general anesthesia and left it open to heal from the inside out. The week I was in the hospital was horrible though because the doctor came in twice a day to irrigate it and pack it with gauze!!! Because of the area it was excruciatingly painful. I was finally sent home and a nurse visited me to change my bandages and I didn’t feel a thing! She was so gentle. The cyst hasn’t returned for the last 18 years! Praise God for blessing us with great doctors, such as yourself!!! 👍🏻😁
@@nicegal1000 I’m sorry you too had to experience that. I also had a hemorroidectomy!!!! I was at Naval Air Station Sigonella on the island of Sicily,Italy. My boyfriend’s mom took care of me and she is Sicilian!!! Every day she fed me pasta, bread, a meat course and salad at the end! They believe the salad at the end is good for the digestion in case anyone is wondering why the salad was served at the end. Sicilians have their main meal, dinner at 2 o’clock, the town shuts down and anybody who is working goes home to have dinner and a nap between 2 o’clock and 4 o’clock. In the evening they have a small snack like cheese and bread with some prosciutto. I think we Americans should do it like that Because we wouldn’t be going to bed after eating a big meal. Anyways, to get to the point, the pasta and bread caused me to get impacted. Goodness, the pain of two weeks not going to the bathroom. I asked my boyfriend to take me to a doctor in town, and the doctor gave me a good shot for the pain and to go to the emergency room on the base. They tried to put a plastic tube up my nose and send it down to my stomach. I told them it’s not happening, and grabbed the thin hose and ran it down my throat and into my stomach. They filled me up with a gallon of barium. They gave me a big dose of Dilaudid, which made me turned white and pass out
I had a couple of abscesses cleaned out and twice a day, my husband would take the packing out and replace it with new. I know what you mean when you said it was painful. My Lord! I thought I would scream. It felt like fire and gasoline all together. Burnt so bad. Diane
My hubby had one that size, on the side of his neck. He had to have iv antibiotics. It was so bad. It did open while he was getting the antibiotics. Doc was from another country. She didn't even numb him before she started pushing on the wound. He about passed out. He Asked for numbing stuff. She said it would hurt just as much. And continue. She didn't care. I about came unglued. He was so sick and to have to put up with an unprofessional doc. Is just awful.. thank you for being gentle with your patients. Five or six injection would have been better than nothing.
I had a similar case luckily I was with my hasbend , he gave me a hand, and we left the clinic, and went to another doc that maid an excellent job docs are not god dont allow them do what you don't love
It has nothing to do with doctor from another country. My cyst was drained by a white canadian doctor and he said exactly same to me. Did not put any numbing agent.
Wow. That cyst set up housekeeping and invited all the family to move in. Wall here, wall there, floor, top and sides but could not hide from our highly skilled cyst buster. Great job Greg!! She is a lucky lady.
@Kathy Sanders I can just imagine her relief, I get these under my arms and my breast area, and they're extremely painful, tender and inflamed. The only thing that helps me is a hot water cloth as hot as I can stand it everyday until it pops on it's own.

He is a physician assistant-certified (PA-C). A PA-C is a graduate of an accredited physician assistant educational program who has undergone testing by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. PA-Cs are state-licensed to practice medicine with a supervising physician. They are not addressed as “Dr.” The same is true for nurse practitioners, APRN (advanced practice registered nurse), ARNP (advanced registered nurse practitioner) and NP (nurse practitioner). Both PAs and NPs are mid-level medical professionals. They're basically at the same level. However, NPs can work independently in many states that PAs can't. So, it places nurse practitioners above physicians assistants in terms of practice independence. 😊
I am having surgery on the 21 to get the sight of my abscess that kept coming back to get the wall out. It's like an inch from my anus.... I just hope the knockout juice works this time. Sorry I can't spell it. Did a heart block surgery. They tried five times to knock me. Body went hell no. I don't want to feel what this doctor is doing I don't want to feel that. I shouldn't have watched this.
@@danacooper4709Hi, I am a RN and also very skilled when it comes to pain. I do not know if you will have this done under full anesthesia or local anesthesia. I had full anesthesia when the abscess in my groin grew from a pea size to a grapefruit sized bump in three days. I know many will do it in local anesthesia. Several factors comes into play when it comes to pain. We know that if the area is very infected, the anesthesia does not take that well. If you are worried, afraid and very alert and do not feel safe, your brain will translate every pain signal as very extreme pain. The more you tense up, the more difficult it can be to get you painfree. In some cases, giving the patient a muscle relaxant together with pain medication can be twice as effective if the patient is very tense. I know that it feels good both for you, the nurses and the doctor if you tell them how you are feeling beforehand. Tell them your fears, your previous experiences etc. They have guaranteed heard everything before. If you like to be in control, you might want to know everything the doctor does, while some does not want to know anything. Tell them what you feel more safe with. If you feel uneasy being alone with the doctor, ask for a nurse there (I don’t know how it is in USA but we never are alone with doctors, there is always going to be one with the same gender as yourself). Know that even if this is a huge deal for you, they are extremely experienced with abscesses. They know of all the things that can go wrong, which is basically almost none, and they are the best when it comes to acting fast, having the knowledge and experience to do things right. They do not want red numbers, so they will do their utmost to make this a good surgery. Know that IF you feel pain, that pain is not dangerous, you are much stronger than the pain and the pain only lasts for a short while. It is five minutes before that access hopefully is dead and gone. I found out that if I was sweet to the doctor and nurse, it was way easier for them to be sweet to me. It also made them remember that I am a person, not a number. It does not take much. I can joke about them having had the morning coffee so hopefully they are awake, to giving them permission to slap me if I am snoring too loud. Jokingly off course. I wish you good luck!!
I thoroughly enjoy watching Dr. Lynch doing procedures! Instead of mindless conversation for filler he explains everything he is doing, explains why he is doing it and the overall purpose for doing what he is doing! also giving us the medical terminology! Such a pleasure to watch his videos!
100% agree with you. I much prefer Greg also. He is so thorough in his procedures and in the information he provides. I always feel I've learned something when I watch his videos. His patients are lucky to have him as their derm doctor.
As someone who has HS, thank you for being so thorough and thoughtful of pain levels. 🎉🙏 Even some women will develop them in the armpit, groin and breast. This is tender, excruciatingly painful and you got this done beautifully. Docs could learn a lot from you. Also, giving numbing, waiting a moment for it to kick in, then administering a little more and then waiting for it to numb up better has always worked wonders. 👏👏 Good job Doc! You followed any tunnel it made and they can make tons of loculations. This is so gentle. 🏆
I have watched many months of cyst removals but BY FAR this looked One of the most painful 😖 Mr Popzit is just such a kind , caring dr who does awesome work 👍🏼👏🏻, I just wonder why he didn’t just do the 1 large incision so he could have had greater access and viewing ? Amazing how impacted the cysts can get. So hard you can’t even push it out. She must have felt so much relief. Hopefully another one won’t form. The way you converse with your patients is so calm and comforting. Just like always nothing to worry about.
Likely another one won’t form since it seemed like he was able to remove all or pretty much all, of the cyst wall. At least, that’s what Dr. Sandra Lee says. 😉

I still and will always be amazed buy this special block that he is created that is able to numb all the way to the bottom of a cyst like this. I have never seen anyone including dr.lee be able to work at this level without refreezing or simply not removing this amount of content. I don't know if he learnt this during his education or if this was something he figured out on his own but it is amazing that with the amount of inflammation in the cyst that he was able to scrape the cyst lining from the bottom. Definitely the one and only cyst Whisperer. We just have to get those subscribers in here and bring those numbers up. I feel with the amount of views and comments he should be up two half a million subscribers by now.
I'm sure I can speak for the rest of the popaholics in the room. You made us all very happy with this extraction. Much love to the wonderful lady that allowed it to be videotaped so we could experience it. I'm always so thrilled to find that the patient is completely numb. There is no satisfaction in watching a video where the patient is feeling any discomfort. Another fantastic removal Greg. Thank you.
I have never seen anything so bad, the poor patient must have been in agony before. Your a great Dr. You don't fool around. You get to the issue and get after it. You're not scared to resolve the problem. Hats off to you. Fine job.
I had a really big cyst on my tailbone years ago. It looked like I was starting to grow a tail, it was so pronounced. When I came back to have the packing removed, it was such a relieving feeling. The VA doc did an awesome job
Horror writers have nothing over this abscess. I have watched hundreds of Dermatological videos. None come even close to this one. I think you have a winner on your hands. I will watch this over and over again. Thank you for your wonderful work
At some point you wonder how much is old sebaceous discharge and how much is just, like, straight up necrotic tissue, the color is the same shade or foul reddish brown and stark white I've seen on crime scene cleaning/autopsy videos, the space left in there is enough to fit a whole finger I bet. I can't even imagine the pain of having that entire thing bothering you in your back, not being able to relax at night because you got that huge growth in there eating away part of you.
I’m very impressed with the actual true effort Dr. GREG places on getting all the contents removed. Most Doctors these days literally are only interested in getting people in and out. Dr. Greg deserves our recognition for being a commendable Dr.
I agree, but Greg Lynch isn't a doctor, he's a P.A. or Physician's Assistant. However, I think he's a lot better than some of the doctors out there who aren't nearly as careful or capable as Greg Lynch P.A. Love from Amanda Jones in Australia ❤
I have seen this several times and feel that an incision needs to be made across the inflamed area to help evacuate the cyst particles and get rid of any loculations left. Great job as usual.
In this case I doubt it. Although, he probably packed that one, not sure how it would heal, with two openings vs one long one. Either way you’d be stuffing a ton of packing in there.
I admire how committed you are to getting every single piece of sac out of the cyst. Not many people would have taken half the time you did to get all the content out. 👏🏼
Even the nurse was trying to hurry him up and he said no he have more he can squeeze out. He was committed to his patient and doinh things to the best of his ability. Which was excellent work.
@@stcroix7722 Yes, I noticed that too. I love ❤ how he refuses to rush things. Do you remember when he reopened an I and D that he'd done because there was fluid in it and it turned out to be yellow serous fluid, and then he found that the huge sac was still in it. He spent ages teasing out the whole sac - and I've watched that video about 50 times!!! LOL 😆 🤣!!! This was just as good as that one.

The giving tree of cysts, honestly really glad you kept checking with her constantly about pain or sensitivity, I know I’d be irked at the minimum by someone digging like that in my back, I’ve had something similar and my brain codes it as pain even though I know it’s really just discomfort and not liking the feeling. This was actually really cool to watch and very informative

I can tell you it's excruciating especially the injection to numb it. I suffer with these it's called hidridinitis suppritiva they come out anywhere on the body. You can go to bed with none and waken up with a cherry tomato sized one. The worst one I ever had was the size of a golf ball. This poor patient….I can only imagine the absolute relief she felt afterward. With it being located right under her bra strap she had been dealing with a lot of pain and discomfort. She won’t have to worry about it coming back since The doctor did a fantastic job removing the sac wall. I had never had a cyst or abscess until 1999 when I was pregnant with my son. I first developed one on the upper part of my side right where the edge of my bra rubbed it constantly. Because of the constant rubbing it became very red and irritated. One day I was fed up with it and stood in front of a mirror and squeezed it with every ounce of strength and after about the third squeeze it popped….It was a lot of liquid substance. Thankfully it didn’t return. However, 3 weeks later I developed another one in a different location. It was on the lower part of my stomach and right above my pubic bone. I tried to pop it, My Husband tried and My Mother tried, but no matter how hard we squeezed it wouldn’t pop. Fast forward a few months, it was still there and I was in the Hospital giving birth to my son. Having a Mitral Valve Prolapse, I was given an antibiotic through an IV. A week later we were in the car and I suddenly felt something very weird and having just given birth recently for the first time I couldn’t even begin to imagine what that weird feeling was. I went into a restaurant bathroom and could not believe what had actually happened. The cyst I had for nearly 5 months that nobody could pop had just popped all by itself with out being touched. Of course I found out it was the antibiotics I had received the week before that caused it to pop. I was thrilled it was gone. That was 24 years ago and I haven’t had a cyst or abscess since. They had only showed up while I was pregnant….It was my only pregnancy. I haven’t ever researched it, but I wonder if they were brought on by my pregnancy.
I'm a popaholic and glad to have found this site. My big question is how in the world do people live for years with these recurring cysts? I had facial acne as a teen thru 20's and it hurt enough I went every 2 weeks for years to a dermatologist to keep from hurting. To have cysts so big you cannot lay on your back or side or front would be awful. If a cyst controls how you dress or how you can rest that means it controls your life. I admire the patients who decide to find a good doctor and get rid of the monster under their skin so they can lead a life without pain.
The sheer volume of material that came outta there was remarkable enough, but the amount of capsule he managed to extract was surprising and impressive. If he didn't get 100% of that capsule he surely got 95% and I didn't think we were gonna see much of it by the way things started out. I think this one should qualify for entry into "Doctor's Brag Book" because it went surprisingly well.

Really? Some of these videos are kind of good to have out there for everyone to watch, but as an American that has lived in several Western European countries, and now is doing their residency (as an MD) in Australia, I'm often horrified by the sub par work done in the US... Our healthcare system is worse then many 3rd world countries I've worked in (I did a placement in Sth Africa...) And the professionalism and accessibility of healthcare is MUCH better in Australia and countries like Sweden and The Netherlands. This video frightens me a little... And so do many others on the net. Yet these Drs freely post them...
Just saw this video - Derm is not my thing but good surgical technique, whether it be open heart or cyst extraction, is always a delight to watch- EXCELLENT work and great bedside manor!
Wow. That was a lot of material. What I like about the way Dr. Greg does these is that he tries to get every possible piece out that he can see. Reduces the chances of a regrowth!
Its not often i get emotional watching things like that, normally it would just gross me out but watching this made me cry for her because i too once had and known the pain of a recurring cyst. I applaud her strength and bravery to endure that pain for so long and during the procedure. I would have been insisting to be unconscious for it myself as i would be too afraid of the pain of all the squeezing and digging...... great job Dr!
Loved this. Felt a little bad for her, but, she didn't seem to be in so much pain. I have watched this many times. Never get tired of it. Dr. PopZit, you are the BEST.
I know other Dermatologists have called that tool a comodone extractor but it’s nice to see that that name is wrong, and that they use it wrongly, since it’s actually a cyst annihilator.
That was probably the most cyst wall I’ve ever seen excised out. The sac was more impressive than the cyst content this time for me but that was cool too!
I am so proud of you ❤ I wish you all the best, dear stranger.
And a big “fuck you” to the Emergency doctors for not anaesthetising you sufficiently because of their biases towards addicts. They determined that you were not worthy of receiving the best possible care they could give because of your illness.
Congratulations 🥰 Beating addiction is traumatic.Be proud of yourself and don't go back... Life too short 🥰🙏

I’ve heard nothing but terrible things about cysts in that area! 😭 That sounds so painful, glad it’s far in the past for you.
I had a similar case luckily I was with my hasbend , he gave me a hand, and we left the clinic, and went to another doc that maid an excellent job

He is a physician assistant-certified (PA-C).
A PA-C is a graduate of an accredited physician assistant educational program who has undergone testing by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
PA-Cs are state-licensed to practice medicine with a supervising physician.
They are not addressed as “Dr.”
The same is true for nurse practitioners, APRN (advanced practice registered nurse), ARNP (advanced registered nurse practitioner) and NP (nurse practitioner).
I subscribed not only for the great and thorough job eliminating that cyst wall but for "thanks for popping by." Incredible, perfect, no notes.

The longer the incision, the more risk of infection.

Because it takes years to get an appointment
Nice job! That must’ve been uncomfortable to have under her skin but it’s gone now! How many if these removals have you done in your career so far?❤
You can appreciate how clean you keep the operating area and, how gentle he is w/ the patient.
Gentle is most definitely not what I thought.
🎉 pop!!
@@miss_mish The patient is numb and he's constantly asking if the patient feels pain!!
@@cassandra0008 doesn't change the fact he was rough as fk.
@@miss_mish I bet the patient was relieved he got alot of that stuff out though!! They probably felt better after.

I agree. This video is my favorite and it's very interesting to watch over again. Mrpopzit greatest hits !
Ok
I’m 2 years away from taking the PA exam, this physician is perfectly eloquent, informative and teaching, soooo very important to build a proactive educated community 🙏🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 congratulations 🎉
If you're 2 years away from taking the PA exam you should know that he's not a physician. Please don't be one of those PAs that call themselves a doctor or physician.
I just love this doctor and he has such a soothing bedside manner. Much love Doc❤...😂 No cyst gets left behind...cracked me up!
Too bad he is unhygienic and uses a poor technique
Pretty sure that sac was anchored to her toes. Holy cow. Didnt think it was ever going to let go.
Not anchored to her toes!😮😂
your hungry eat that tasty creamy yummy filling I know you want to🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣
Poor lady I truly hope this resolves quickly and doesn’t come back🫶
Thank u for taking ur time and getting it all out for her Doc💪
Being a popper I love watching abscesses, this one is amazing 🤩 can I say thank you to your patient for sharing her treatments. Best regards to you, your patient and to all poppers who’s watching this. ❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧
That poor woman! She definitely walked into the right office!
My ex husband went through this he had them chronically it seemed. They finally did the sac removals 2 years before he passed away. He was in so much pain.
He put her through unnecessary pain during the last part of the procedure which he calls the bottom as she feels it. Is he out of anesthetic?
I am so impressed like your work inspires me to feel like I can go to school and learn to do this ! Phenomenal work! Phenomenal energy and method !!!!
I appreciate how gentle and caring you are with your patients. Very educational video. TFS
I absolutely love that he actually cares about patient comfort. In the past 5 years, I’ve seen the compassionate MD’s retire and replaced with ones who treat patients with much less care. Nice to know there are some really good providers out there still.
Iíj
When she said it hurt, why didn't he give her more numbing?
@BaiBaiBri There is a limit to how much Lidocaine a person can receive before it will affect the heart. 😢

The camera's rolling so yeah ofcourse they'll be nice to you
I'm so glad I've found this channel he does the procedures so professional and so caring. He cares so much about the patients and their pain levels. Also the way he pops these huge inflamed cysts is absolutely amazing
I've watched this 4 times
True
@@peterd9427 out of curiosity, how would an Australian doctor handle this procedure in comparison?
ive watched this 12 times
Just saw this video - Derm is not my thing but good surgical technique, whether it be open heart or cyst extraction, is always a delight to watch- EXCELLENT work and great bedside manor!
Wow. That was a lot of material. What I like about the way Dr. Greg does these is that he tries to get every possible piece out that he can see. Reduces the chances of a regrowth!
Thats the goal
Vegas here, I have to tell you “You’re the Bomb” Dr. Greg in every way that matters! Appreciate you and the care you give to your patients👏✨😎
WOW THAT CYST WAS HUGE!! SO HAPPY YOU WERE ABLE TO GET IT ALL OUT FIR HER SUCH A BRAVE LADY THANK YOU MS. AND DOCTOR!! GREAT VIDEO!!
Not a Dr.
I absolutely LOVED your technique of digging out that dried cyst. Probably one of the most satisfying proceedures I"ve seen in a long time.
Cavernous! That must have been so painful. Hope it heals nicely for her.
You are the only one I see that really goes after the cyst wall.
Such a satisfying video! Great to watch you tackle such a mean looking cyst/abcess, knowing you're going to do a thorough job and bring her relief!
HE does love a compliment; and rightfully so...✌️
😂😂😂😂
@asaratkhandr I know that. I was being facetious.
I call it the prong grenade
Ha ha ha, good one 🤪
😂😂😂 too funny
That was probably the most cyst wall I’ve ever seen excised out. The sac was more impressive than the cyst content this time for me but that was cool too!
WOW!! That cyst was BIG! Great job! You're so careful, gentle and kept checking on her pain. Great Work! 👍👍
