Oh boy, caution against going to HR unless it’s your last ditch effort. HR‘s job is to protect the company. I think at that point you should be looking for another job.
I agree with most everything in this video except the go to HR parts. HR is NOT your friend and work solely for the company. They are not there to help you but rather help the company. They are lying if they say otherwise.
these suggestions are ideal if all bosses and supervisors were homogeneous in thinking and reasonable - like in a perfect world scenario. But they’re not. And most bosses are self aware enough to know how their treating employees.
Bosses may micromanage if employees are not yet fully trained for the job. And bosses should not be expected to be in every employees personal life. Employees are there to do a job. They can discuss their personal life with colleagues. But should be available for employees to discuss any personal hardships they are going through like health problems or bereavement or divorce etc. Not their general day to day chit chat. Bosses also have their own work to get on with. And should have their own personal space to do so.
My supervisor at work made four of us stay back for 24 minutes past the time we were supposed to clock out he said we were not doing a good job in the kitchen cleanup but to my eyes it look like we didn’t really do a job in the head boss said that we did a good job and the supervisor started to try to do our job over Again and it really made me upset and he said don’t ever let this happen again and we’ve been getting out of work super late for the past week
No do not go to HR about the boss because the boss employs HR and you will soon see the door. No don’t unearth all the issues- same outcome. Shheeesh have you ever had a job?
Big brother boss is essential in work places to ensure that employees are held accountable for their work and any mistakes. And not just taking a salary but having no respect for the employer. Taking office stationary home etc. Or making serious work blunder and denying it. Is highly unlikely the monitoring happens 99% of the time but is there in some businesses in case some problems have occurred. Like telephone banking and call centres where calls are recorded or monitored.
