So how is this guy going to rip our state dept and security state players apart and get rid of the nutters that have been doing this my entire life and I am 76. We must say outloud that peace was never an option in Ukraine, the state dept and adm state have wanted to overthrow the Ukrainian gov for years. Democrats and Republicans both did this.

Most Americans believe we spend 3-4 times what the CCP spends on defense. Senator Sullivan revealed the Defense Intelligence Agency determined that China spends an equivalent amount as the US. When you factor in their Civilian Military Fusion and their warships are build by Chinese State Owned Companies (the cost doesn't show up in their budget), they are getting much more bang for the buck (DOD reliance on civilian contractors for functions that could be handled by conscripts also drives up our costs). In fact for 2 decades China has engaged in the largest military buildup since the end of the COLD WAR. In summer 2023, Senator Sullivan and several other Senators (bipartisan) introduced bill S.1791 - China Defense Spending Transparency Act, to educate the public about the true nature of China's military buildup. I don't know why the bill seems to be stuck in the Select Committee on Intelligence. I live in Florida so contacted Senator Rubio who is the ranking member on that committee to find out but he has not responded. This bill seems like a no brainer, does anyone know why the bill is stalled?

" their warships are build by Chinese State Owned Companies (the cost doesn't show up in their budget)" --- correction: the costs do show up in China's military budget. The reason Chinese military gets much more bang for the buck is not because the Chinese are good at cooking their books but because China has much larger industrial capacities than the US does.
For example, the reason Chinese warships are a lot cheaper than the US ones is because China commands about 60-70% of global commercial shipbuilding market share. Hence Chinese shipbuilding companies could leverage the facitlies & staffs of commercial shipbuilding for military orders, spread the costs among more than 42mn tons of commercial ships that China builds each year. Whethere those shipbuilding companies are state-owned or not is irrelevant, what really matter is that these companies are so efficient that they out-compete the Korean & Japanese shipbuilders and dominate the global commercial shipbuilding industry - that is why Chinese navy can procure their ships at such low costs.
Now, the reason why the US lost its commercial shipbuilding industry, many other industries, is simple - these industries don't make money and hence it is not an efficient allocation of capital. That is simply Capitalism 101 - you want the best return for your capital. Better outsource those dirty, low-margin, poor return businesses to developing countries and focus on the high-margin businesses such as Microsoft & Google.
Unless you want to ditch capitalism and switch to socialist/communist central planning and government subsidies, I don't see a way out of it.

@@Skywalker1826 "Chinese military gets much more bang for the buck is not because the Chinese are good at cooking their books" I don't disagree with your points but if you believe the official numbers China puts out for their defense budget I have a bridge I would like to sell you. With massive government subsidies, potential slave labor (Uyghurs, Tibetans, Mongolians, others), and Civilian-Military Fusion the costs can all be hidden. They are potentially very efficient but since CCP members sit on every company's board they are all "State Owned" companies when you are talking about a Leninist dictatorship. They can also lose money on every commercial ship because the government wants to dominate world ship building. Jaqueline Deal, Senior Fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute and her team estimates over the last 20 years the CCP has increased their inventory of advanced weapon systems 7x while the US has barely doubled because we were off fighting wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. We can't be a Superpower without control of the oceans so the government is going to have to figure out how to fix our ship building, both military and commercial.

@@tomcullen8367 Hello Tom. I'm Chinese and also half Uyghur, which is from my mother's side. I've spent a lot of time in Xinjiang, the Uyghur autonomous region, and never seen or heard even one person is a slave labor. I know they will pick up the cotton, but not like the Americans did to the blacks, they get well-paid. AFAIK, they can get around 18k-20k CNY(2.5k-2.8k USD) per month in the cotton harvesting season. Now, due to the blaming from the western, this job has gone, here is no Uyghur happy about that. Just let you know.
