- Bali’s crown jewel has been elusive so far this year, so it was great to see a good swell line up with a late afternoon low tide, offshore winds and good direction.
The lines were ruler edged with some dreamy barrels on the sets, but as always, the shallow reef was lurking on the inside.
After a wave, the water rushes off the shelf into the channel, so surfers are usually flushed out of harms way fairly quickly, but you sure wouldn’t want to wipeout too deep on that chunk of uneven reef and dragged as the water drains out from underneath.

Does anyone ever ask you how to get ‘out’ or back in at Uluwatu, since you’re up on the cliff often, you can see the wave pattern??? Or is it just timing after all? Thanks guys awesome vid as always🙏🏻❤️
The current usually runs in a predictable direction, but it's such a long paddle that timing relies on a bit of luck as well.

What’s the best way to get back in if stuck in that rip like that ?
Do what the surfer on the left did, paddle across the shore to where there is breaking white water and use that to wash you in. In a situation like indo you need to toss up how close you want to get to the reef vs batteling the tide/rip, usually the water is deeper than you think in the moment though
Slam the water as hard as you can and scream "Let me out! Let me out!"
@@alohadev369 I’ll give that a try next time, although I’m sure it’ll be easier to paddle back in on my wavestorm. Those small boards look hard
