thank you. I have made 1300 face masks. I size them personally for each face. But it takes more time to do it, but I feel if the mask fits well the person will use it more so it is worth whatever to make it happen. If this works, the adjustable with the beads it will certainly be easier for me as well as person needing the mask, it is amazing how many people do not have a tape measure to get me the the correct measurement for their mask. Thank you for the simple direct instruction.
It is possible to get a length of dental floss, put the two ends of the floss through the bead leaving a loop large enough out the other end to put your elastic through and then pull that through the bead, bringing the elastic through with it. A little hard to describe but very easy to do once you get the drift. Good luck!
Sorry, I should have specified to pull only one piece of the elastic through the bead at a time, when you're pulling the second two pieces through. Two at a time just won't fit through the small hole. It also helps if you fold to flatten the elastic around the loop of dental floss you're pulling through the hole of the bead.

Is there a certain size bead I should get for a given width elastic? I have a few masks, and the elastics are different sizes. And can I get the beads online? I am in a vulnerable group and don't want to go to a store. What do I call them? Thank you!

Kay A - I cut mine 9 inches on each ear and that gives me a quarter inch to a half an inch to tuck into the mask when i sew and allows for the adjusters without being tight. Keep in mind that elastic length is based off of how far back your mask comes on the side of the face.
It sure will… It just depends on if you can get both ends through the hole in the bead. I have used this with twill ribbon as well to make adjustable straps.
You twirl and twist them together and you can even cut the ends at an angle to give yourself a point. If that still does not work for you then tape them together sort of like the end of a shoelace and twist the bead on.

Thanks again so much I was getting so frustrated with this. And frankly I think using this is so much superior to not having it be adjustable I actually don't use elastic I use paracord and it works great
If you elongate the tips of your elastic meaning cut them on an angle then you should be able to feed both pieces of elastic through. Just make sure your initial piece is long enough that you can account for cutting off the slant when it’s time to sew.
@@kajohnson861 Yes I consider those at one time but they're kind of big and they're expensive actually I have figured out how to make it work I got the paracord, then cut it at an angle so the end of it will have a point melted a little bit with the lighter wrap some clear tape around it and it goes right through... I know that sounds like a lot but it really is and it goes pretty fast

Thank you so much for this tutorial!!! I was leaving the elastic just open and people were tying themselves to size --- but this is soooo much better!

Marilyn. This is 1/8 inch elastic. I have fit these beads over 1/4 inch also. It just takes some work to get the beads on.

You can also use a crochet hook to pull it through the bead.
