Ebony Prince wanted to sell the items to the highest bidder, Kendrick's team already got what they wanted for 616 in La and MTG. Ebony knew the cover art would make the items more valuable, being part of the biggest rap diss in the decade, but when he was ready to flip all the items, that's when the stolen rumors came out and got him fired.

Your explanation about HIPPA laws isn't quite correct. It's the health care workers who risk a lawsuit. It’s entirely possible Kendrick had MTG recorded, saw Drake dropped a song called family matters, and just added him saying “Meet the Grahams” to the prerecorded track.
Possible but difficult to execute in reality. The time it would take to upload alone would account for lapse between family matters and MTG. It would be very impressive if he went back and updated a track and upload in less than an hour.
