My favorite version of all of them, her voice is MAGICAL. unbelievable control and tone. just perfect. this song is HARD and she came in with perfect pitch and ready to slay!! RIP Miss Donna!! so missed!! 🌈💅💗🍒💔
IMO, the most under appreciated singer in the last 50 years. What range and power. Sadly, she was classified as a disco singer but she was so much more. I was lucky enough to see her live twice... outdoors in Atlanta in the summer, nonetheless... and I was moved to tears multiple times each concert.
Admittedly....this particular song has some of the greatest vocalists singing it....check them out on youtube....but my humble opinion is that Donna's version is not only pitch perfect....she also embraces and communicates the message of hope and love to the Argentine people in such a precarious time of their history through her God-given gift of voice. Hers was clearly the best version!
the voice and the character - much more better and human than any 21th century productions. nice to see. it is old but new discovery for me. the gold times of music.
That it does, the only version that topped this was when Donna sang this at her March 1998 Benefit for the Gay Mens Health Crisis at Carnegie Hall. Somewhere there has got to be tape of it, as it was the emotional highpoint of that show, and time stood still for it.
God, is this good. Better than any opera singer or any other version I've heard. Christ, Donna was beautiful, to boot. Boston boy here who grew up listening to her and always knew, with those pipes, that Donna was way more than just a "disco queen." Not that there is anything wrong with that, either. Just shows Ms. Summer could excell at a multitude of song types and ranges. What a talent.
@@deejayspade9476 Just listened to Laura's live version. Only one I could find. Wasn't for me, I guess. A singer can touch some, but not others. 'Tis humanity.
However Houston had a beautiful voice, she never was as good in a live performance as Summer..for example:if you listen to the song "One moment in time, it's certainly not as good as on the album. And if you listen to Summer's songs, the situation is completely different.
En tu honor Paco Chacón, carnalito parte de mi corazón y mi ser siempre estás vivo en mi mente y corazón,el amor lo hará posible siempre juntos brother te amo
Vocally, it’s perfect. Don’t like the attempt to “modernize” the musical arrangement. It makes it sound dated, but for the time, it’s ok. Again, vocals are flawless, of course.,
I thought Nicole's and Lea's versions were the best but after hearing Donna's version have to put her at the top. Donna, Nicole, Lea and Laura sang the best renedition of this song. Sorry but Julia's and Karen Carpenter's versions are boring. Elaine Paige did a good job too

This blows every other version totally out of the water.

It's not bad. I personally prefer Julie Covington, Nicole Scherzinger and Karen Carpenter in English. In Spanish, Elena Roger and Mia Patterson.
check out Laura Branigan version its touching, SOUL AND PAIN

Donna NEVER failed to impress in concert 👏
Two women that will never be forgotten are
Donna Summer and Whitney Houston.
There voices are beautiful.
I love them both.

Très belle chanson.

She’s the greatest of all time! Everything seems so simple , no effort, compared to Céline Dion Mariah Carey Ariana grande who shout more singing!
