We are free to make our own choices in life but we can't escape the consequences. Many people try to live their own life and their "own truth" but they are deceived. Success in this life is measured by God, not by man. This is why the Savior said it was extremely difficult for a rich man to enter into eternal life; because their hearts are set upon their riches instead of the kingdom of God. All of us have to accept our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, exercise faith in Him, and take up our cross and follow Him. Many will be disappointed at the judgement and will be turned away. 21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Matthew 7:21-23 Many Christians will be turned away because they haven't done the will of the Father (followed Jesus and kept His commandments). This is why the false doctrine of "no effort" salvation is so dangerous. "Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." Matthew 7:14
