I actually have had one of these sitting around my house for 6+ years, it's been my loaner to any friend who decides to get started. It's been in more cars then i can count. They buy the amp and i throw the kicker in until they get their own subs. 6 years of being overpowered, abused, and has seen more clipping than a elementary school arts and crafts teacher, and it's still somehow Kickin. It now currently resides as my PC's sub, in which i have an x-box 360 psu powering a very small amp in the background. I believe they used to rate these 400 wtt rms 800 watt max, The current numbers seem more realistic, but if you pick a gem you can rag on these to an extent. Love it.

I just blew a L7, had RF T1's before these, RF sounded better all around, the kickers had their certain frequencies they liked and when hit those man it was eargasm. They definitely were lively and loud. Also the one j blew wasnt the coil. I actually cracked the cone in 2 places on the rated power...

It's a little overpriced for a 150wrms sub. But, it clearly should have been rated 300wrms. So I think it's priced about right. Looking forward to the rest of the series, keep up the good work!

I'll just say that I can never run Kicker again, even in that set up I couldnt get any of what I wanted out of it. The lows dont really come through well at all, mostly really high bass. After that I had two Pioneer 3003D4 12s in a sealed box on the same DC Audio 1.2K amp, I was shocked to find that they sounded so much better, louder and played the lows.

Picked up a 10" Comp R (2ohm model) recently for just a few dollars more. Wired to 1 ohm on a Kicker CXA400.1 that's putting out 687W of clean non clipping RMS power checked with oscilloscope even though it's rated for 400W @ 1ohm. Put it in a 1.5 cu ft ported box tuned to 35hz and it does amazingly well for the wife's daily. She's not trying to win any SPL contests. But it will surprise you if fed bass boosted lows. If you have the amp you may as well skip the C and Comp C and go straight for the Comp R.

I'd be interested in that as I'm running 2 of them myself. I'm very happy with them. They supposedly have the same voice coils and magnet as the square L7's, just round. The CompC 12 (44CWCS124) is a much better buy at $10 more than the Comp C12 (43C124) which you bought. It's has twice the rated power, and plays the lows very well. They remind me of the early 2000's C12 budget gems that were commonly sold at around $50 a piece.

    • @fd1596

@Luminous.Dynamics The Huge box for the sealed or a more reasonable sized ported tuned @34Hz or lower. Back in those days most ported enclosures were tuned higher to give more impact, and accuracy than low-end extension. The music we listen to nowadays is way different than it was back in those days, so we use to use an Epicenter to get more low-end output especially in a sealed box to see if the driver was even at all able to produce strong low-end frequencies in a sealed enclosure. JL Audio was one of those that produced strong low-end frequencys that would shake the dishes in your house from at least a quartermile away in a large sealed enclosure with the Epicenter. That kicker sub was a budget alternative to the JL Audio subs for those who couldn't afford JL Audio, because I think it had a low Fs of around 27Hz like the JL subs. Nowadays you could play rebassed music and get similar output from a large sealed enclosure while still remaining accurate at higher frequencies.
