This isn't the first time this arrangement has been done. While he's not everybody's cup of tea, Michael Bolton did this exact same arrangement in the late 90's - note for note. And it was well received back then.
@@jjeffreyolsen6058 - no dispute that it's not the same result with the instrumentation. What I wanted to point out was that it was the same arrangement - albeit voices instead of instruments. Nothing intended to be disparaging to either performance. Austin's voice is "diamonds to my ears," to quote HarriBest Reactions. And Michael Bolton will always have my heart. Just wanted props to the original arranger.
Mr. Micharl Bolton also sang it pretty good version of it. They both did. They really, really did. And WOW! They both soumded great. But in my own personal opinion young lady, since I am a 73 year old man all I ever heard was the one that I like the best by Soul Brother, Mr. Percy Sledge original version of it back in the day in 1966. Talk about it having a lot of soul and he didn't even have to be loud and fancy and all of that but girl it came strictly from the heart and soul within. Well you asked, you wanted my opinion, you got it. Have a Nlessed day. And once again, I thank you for playing He Free version of it. I really, really enjoyed it very, very much. It was good. Have a Blessed Day. Adios.
I melted too when Austin started to sing this, spilled my coffee and then I had too go back, listen to Home Free... Adam is so very fantastic... This is only complete with all of Home Free doing it together. But Austins voice is so powerful and nice the guy's let him shine here...
Austin is one of the best tenors in any genre in the world, as many singers have remarked. It's not just his extraordinary voice but its golden tone, his impeccable technique and his ability to convey emotion. He's also a sweet and humble person, which may be why he doesn't get the recognition he deserves. Tim Foust (bass) had nagged Austin to do this one for several years but he kept refusing, not feeling he could do it justice. His private life was a mess from about 2017-2020 so probably he also felt he was not the person to sing about love. His voice improved a couple of years ago and when this was recorded he was at last in a happy relationship with his lovely gf, so he finally said he'd do it. What sets his version apart is not just the clever and supportive arrangement (led by a stupendous performance by Adam Rupp) but the way he conveys so much joy. So many versions of the song are so constipated and miserable that you feel sorry for any unfortunate female who has to put up with this (yes, Michael Bolton, I'm looking at you), but Austin leaves us feeling that whatever the risk of love, it's well worth it.
These guys are great as a group and each one of them is an amazing vocalist. And it isn't just Austin's voice that melts all of us women. It's the fact that he is SO good at using the camera to flirt with us. He should have a long career if he keeps that up!
So many reactions to this song say the same thing, “I don’t want it to end”. Austin just crushed it. The passion and soul along with the wonderful harmonies and arrangement…..WOW!
Have your wife/girlfriend listen to this and do something special for her immediately afterward. I guarantee you'll enjoy her response...😮 God bless you Austin
I agree, this is the best version I've ever heard. Austin is singing with so much heart and soul and he means every single word. When I listen to this I love keeping my focus on the support tight harmonies backing Austin's voice up. When I do the beats and the bass hold a solid support on the bottom and Austin's voice flies free above. Gorgeous arrangement and Magnificently delivered. Thanks for a great reaction! And for the correction. We're all learning something new at all times. 💞🥰🙏
Lol, oh hun you have barely scratched the surface of the Home Free rabbit hole. They probably have the largest video library of any group or artist I know of. There covers are all amazing but are also excellent song writer's also and their original work is amazing too. There is one more by song by Home Free that you need to listen to. It's entitled "End of the Road", which was originally sung by the group Boyz to Men. Phenomenal rendition of the song. You'll absolutely love it. Rob sings the lead and does a fantastic job.
This is new and following COVID protocol... Very different vibe then Steel Panther Home Free has a bunch of very creative covid protocol videos. I'd suggest Man of Constant Sorrows to see more of Austin. You'll also get a good bit of everyone else (pay attention at the end to see what Chance was doing other then covering base at times...)
Yes, they have been social distancing but they have been very creative in making their videos. Austin's voice or Tim's (the bass) can melt you for sure. I love this group.

You're not the only woman to swoon over Austin! All the female reviewers I've seen have, and a few of the men too! I read that the guys had to talk Austin into this song. So glad they did! Be sure and have tissues for Bring Him Home. You will cry. It's an emotional, powerful performance!
Austin has an incredible tenor voice, that's for sure. He knows how to breathe and support the sound without straining, too. Not a capella, but you should give a listen to Post Modern Jukebox doing Dream On with Morgan James. She will blow you mind.
