What's better? Ultimate Battle 22 or Taiketsu?
The only correct answer is no
Hmm... sounds like these games need to be... compared
Sadly. UB22 is better just because it isn't handicapped by a GBA.
I may have to check out Taiketsu tho, after this video to get a better understanding like you did.
taiketsu, best game of all time
Your mother
I love that they released a dragon ball GT game in North America when the English dub was still on Namek. That is just too funny to me.
As someone who lived in Mexico before coming to live in U.S I always found it annoying that it was hard for me to watch dragon ball Z, not because I didn't understand it but because at the time only the frieza saga was being aired and in Mexico the last thing I watched on el cinco(our version of cartoon network) was cell being introduced since Mexico ate dragon ball z like a tacos so the show was Spanish dubbed like crazy
I’m gonna assume it was released in America for the manga readers and few people that were aware of GT.. sorta like jjba all star battle which released right after part 2 of Jojo finished.
@@47FloridaManDreI think it was simply because Dragon Ball was growing rapidly in the USA (i wouldn't know since i'm not native). I doubt they were trying to appeal to anyone besides standard fans. As for ASB, it's not the same thing. The game was released in a time where translated manga was much more accessible than when DB aired there, so much more people already knew the Jojo cast for beyond Part 2.
@@Harucardiel for the US, we had the same thing for a while, except it stopped just before ginyu
Idk why they called it GT in America. In Europe and Japan its just called Dragon Ball: Final Bout
Vegeta's Taiketsu sprite is hilarious, it's so out of proportion. His head is MASSIVE, like comparing him to other characters, it takes up the space of both the head and part of upper torso of any other sprite.
Supersonic Warriors is really good. I forgot if you played it on the channel or not, but I'd recommend it either way.
Fr that game was so fun ti play and heck it looked so dynamic
Please, don't forget the Nintendo 3DS game: Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden
I used to play it all the time despite the fact I paused constantly to see the combos
Wake up, everyone! New Niosai video just dropped! I gotta say, you deliver such consistent quality, and your commitment to playing literally every game in these series is awesome!
Also, while Taiketsu means showdown in Japanese, Tai expresses wishes or desires, and ketsu can mean ass or buttocks. So in a way, Taiketsu can mean “A desire for ass”
Sounds like a wish that would've been made in early dragonball, "Dragon I wish for the firmest of cheeks"
@@yummynubs3646 I think Bulma made that wish in the last movie lol
shin butoden did not get released for the playstation, it's a saturn exclusive, also, idainaru dragon ball densetsu also came out for the ps1 but only in japan, whereas the saturn version also came out in europe, both versions have differences, such as having different meteo attacks and the ps1 version using compressed audio
Dragon Ball Z Legends is actually really fun when you learn the fighting mechanics really well. Way more fast-paced and intense than what was shown, honestly.
One of the best DBZ games ever dude! I still own it!
@@radamesrivera4193 Me too! But I can't play mine since it's the japanese version. That game was epic in every sense of the word back then
20:36 oh snap!
I still have my Taiketsu cartridge and completely agree, people need to play this game.
Like a trainwreck, you just can't stop looking at it. As a kid, I played it all the time between my legacy of Goku time.
Lol Krillins head is bigger than Vegata's whole body in that game.
As it was briefly covered here I feel its worth noting this here, there is currently a mod project taken on by a group in the competitive Budokai 3 community to make a Budokai 4 using infinit world as base that is designed to revamp and rebalanced the cast. Of course its more focused to competitive play but the level of work going in to the mod is absolutely phenomenal.
I had DBZ Densetsu / Legend on the Saturn and enjoyed it a lot. The tug of war system makes all the characters play the same, but the special attacks when it fills up are pretty cool. Also, no other BBZ conveyed the feeling of going 3 against one 1 and struggling, or the scale of 3 on 3, in my opinion.
🚫🚫🧢🧢
The saturn game (the Idainatu one) had a ps1 version, which I played alot, might not look like but the game has a very interesting battle system where you can create combos, if you look at a wiki explaining how to pull some moves the game not only get faster but way more fun, arguably the game that feel the most like the fights in the show
I love your videos so much, and the energy you bring to this.
I do have one comment and I'm not surprised you missed it, but probably the coolest thing about DBZ Legend is the fact that in that story mode you're encouraged to try to "match" the show. This means that while you can just "finish" fights you're asked to do things in each match that correlate to the show. Killing/letting people die, using certain moves, etc. This is actually how you unlock characters because it sometimes results in new characters showing up!
Idainaru was one of my favs actually, just just need to know how to play
pressing triangle + attack to enter burning mode will constantly use Ki but give you more power and a whole bunch more moves
pressing select allows you to tag in and out up to 5 characters on the fly, something even Raging Blast struggles to do it right, sadly only works on story mode
there's also a bunch of fights with secret conitions, like having Goku use a spirit bumb on freeza and let freeza kill krilin right after will make goku go SSJ on the battle
Idainaru Densetsu is still one of my top Dragon Ball games. I wish Shin Butoden got released over here along with Hyper Dimension. Sad I missed out on those.
The effort that goes into these videos is crazy! Good stuff Nio
you can't belive how long I waited for this dragon ball games have gone through the most changes throughout history and it's great to see how far they've come from where they were thanks for the awesome review
idainaru densetsu is so damn amazing :D and im glad i got a copy way back.
only sad they didnt do this same concept until shin budokai 2 on the psp :(
i really like the whole 3v3 battles.
I'm addicted to your videos.
You're really underrated
Great video as always, loved it!
Man...just can't get enough of your QUALITY videos
ew
Usually Idk 99% of the games from ur vids existed, so I can only thank you for bringing these up. I appreciate ur work, and I am always glad to see ur vids to discover some new old games I haven't seen before. Naruto and Dragon Ball are my fav series on your channel :D
Been looking forward to this
Nice! Niosai on time as always! 👏🏽
Man, Final Bout was my shit way back when! It was actually the first game I ever bought for myself when I got a hand-me-down PS1 cus some family friends got a PS2. I managed to get through the Super Baby fight once by cheesing as Super Little Goku and it was the proudest moment of my elementary school life 🤣
This only goes to show how when we were little we absolutely had no clue if a game was good or not. Or rather, we played what we had. I played it so much too and I actually beat the game with basically all the characters. But man, looking back it was so bad. This awful game released on the same year of freaking Tekken 3
I never clicked on a notification that fast in my life
That's proofs how awesome your channel is
Keep up the great work 😍🤩
Taiketsu is so weird because it kinda feels like whoever was in charge of coming up with character movesets only watched every fifth episode of the series while high and just implemented everything bizarrely. "Uh, Vegeta turned into a giant ape that one time, right? Android 18... she's a robot, so she probably shoots missles. Super Buu is like Super Saiyan but for Buu, right?" And I can't get over the decision to have Gohan wear sunglasses but not his headwrap
I watched all your videos without even realising. Great stuff, definitely got a sub from me. Keep it up.
I'm glad I'm watching this before going to work😌👍
Great Content! Immediately subscribe!
Final Bout's Japanese opening is killer, tho.
Thanks for these videos!! You should definitely do one on every One Piece game as well as every Marvel and DC game and maybe every Lord of the Rings game as well
great video, big dragon ball fan but i didn’t know half of these existed
Hey man, I just stumbled upon your channel and I binge-watched almost all of your videos. I really like what you’re doing here, keep up the good work, and I recommend you do one piece pirate Warriors next!
Currently reading One Piece so I can cover the games :)
Love your videos man, you should play every mortal kombat game and the spinoffs
Another banger
This channel should grow more
Nothing like the "name has a trademark at the end" era of games
If You want to make another dragon ball video you could do something like "i played every dragon ball mod/fan Game" like tenkaichi 4, hyper dragón ball z, etc. Those Game are really good quality and have a lot of passion is put into them.
Btw your videos are great
Ultimate Battle 22 does have an absolutely baller soundtrack. So many tracks are really good.
Thanks for the detailed overviews as usual. It was really funny to learn about the Dragon Power game, and that they copied assets in another game. My only wish is that DragonBall Z Tournament made it on your list.
Although never commercially sold, it was an officially-licensed free flash game on the Toonami website for awhile. It was basically RNG where you move your character to one of four positions (four corners) on a 2D map. You would also choose an action. The computer-controlled foe would also move somewhere and pick an action. For example: if both characters moved to the same corner, they'd get into a physical bout and both lose some health. I think this was a really cool little flash game worthy of some more coverage. It is preserved as part of the Flashpoint project!
That opening needs more credit 🔥🔥
Very excited to see Supersonic Warriors. Loved that game when I was younger
Can’t wait to see you cover Dragon Ball Fighterz, the best fighting game.
As a person that have completed DBZ the legend 3 times I can comprehend why you don't like it, but I mean, you can make some combos you don't have to just punch
11:40 hey, I recognize those Recoome sprites! They're the BuYu Retsuden ones, just smaller/in a lower quality of shading.
9:17 this is awesome lmao
I've never seen Taiketsu and honestly.. I'm impressed that something like that was made on the GBA.
You shouldn't be bro there's much better looking games
Supersonic Warriors is a way better game than Taiketsu imo
Dbz legends was amazing you absolutelyhad to know the game mechanics!!!! Gt was horrendous and i wish they would of gave us a hyper dimension pt 2
Great video but you missed one game Dragon Ball VRVS for the arcade from 94,a really weird pseudo first person fighting game from Sega. This game is rarely ever covered on youtube, so it would be cool to hear your take on it in the next video.
I actually explicitly made the decision not to cover this one because it didn't fall into the "traditional" fighting game aspect I was going for. Don't worry, though, I will eventually cover it on the channel :)
You should totally go over Dragon Ball VR VS. it's an arcade fighting game, and plays a lot like punch out. It even has its own unique villain as the final boss made just for the game! It was going to have a saturn port I believe, and they would've added cell, but it got canceled.
That one will be in the arena fighter video I'm planning 👀👀👀👀
@@Niosai oh awesome its one of my personal favorite next to dragonball fighterz and old tenkaichi budokai series.
@@Niosai oooooh nice! Can't wait!
The thing with Ultimate Battle 22 is that all of its sprite work was ripped from a Saturn game. Also, it mislabels Gogeta as Vegito.
I'm just here waiting till he gets to the arcade games. He is gonnna be in for a treat.
Damn that Taiketsu game. I remember absolutely destroying my thumbs trying to figure out all the combo's in that game.
Taiketsu made my cry as a kid.
Being a dbz head as a kid. I fucced with Taiketsu especially spamming the sky battles each match after setting it to instant death. You didn't even have to really try after that point.
Fun Fact: Apparently Steve Blum voiced Goku in Final Bout. This would make Goku the first Anime character played by Masako Nozawa and Steve Blum. The second is Guilmon from Digimon Tamers.
5:50 I also enjoy watching and playing Drag N Ball Z. My favourite.
Dragon Ball Z Idainaru Densetsu (DBZ Legends as I called it) is a game I had so incredibly much fun with and is my all time favorite Dragon Ball game.
I remember buying a Sega Saturn only because I wanted to play DBZ: Legends. It's still to this day of my my fav DB games of all time. Some years later I traded the Sega for a PS1 and it was only a few years ago that I learned that DBZ: Legends also got released for the PS1
Tips on DBGT - Final Bout:
to Counter a Special Move like Kamehameha, just Press "Triangle+Square+Circle" at the same Time but Rapidly until you manage to Counter Attack.
to Block a Special Attack same as the Counter, but this time just Press "Triangle+Cross" at the same time Rapidly.
Taiketsu used prerendered 3D visuals as a cost-cutting/time-saving measure. The same team was working on a console-based RPG similar to their Legacy of Goku series, which ended up being cancelled, but since they already had these 3D models lying around, might as well put them to use in order to appease the Atari overlords.
Have you played the Jakks Pacific Plug and Play? It had a very basic copy of one of the Butoden games. I remember playing it a lot as a kid.
WE WANT MOAR!!!!!
At work watching 😂
I know people hated on rb2 but honestly it’s one of my top favs, the only issue I had was the camera sometimes.
4:30 That Freeza looks like it's from the Philips CD-i
I still wonder if the special intros in DBZF had some inspiration in ultimate battle 22/27's mini cutscenes.
While most matchups would just have generic banter, battles from the actual show have special intros and even special conditions, like cell vs teen gohan will actually have a rather crappy rendition of the gohan ssj2 transformation scene and teen gohan will get the transformation upgrade too.
Didn't know they had more fighting games
Rip ryan Davis. The guy from the written review. Miss that man so freaking much
Shoulda have mentioned Final Bout OP, it's soooo good. It is one of my favorite Dragon Ball Game openings
I wish I could show more of these intros but I'm scared of the copyright system 😭
@@Niosai Oh sure, I forgot about that
But I mean, you have mentioned some other game op (I just don't remember which), so you could have done the same with Final Bout
Aw Final Bout at least has that super badass intro animation.
For some reason I find it pretty funny how every single character in UB22 has a trademark/registered symbol next to their name, even during gameplay.
Dude you should play every final fantasy game
I played a lot Dragon Ball Final Bout when I was a kid, if you defeat Super Baby with a lot of health remaining you unlock Goku Super Saiyan 4
You should do dragon ball: Extreme butōden.
The best game rater ever!!!
I had Hyper Dimension for the SNES growing up but the European version didn't have a story mode for some reason. I was super disappointed when I find out about it like a decade later.
I hope you play DBZ Supersonic warriors that is the pinnacle of fighting games on the GBA imo
You should do an “every Yu-Gi-Oh game” video
This was actually going to be one of the earlier videos until I realized just how many games there are lmao
I actually had the game boy game and once I learned how to play I actually loved it
Bought a fan made cart of hyper dimensions yrs ago. It was definitely thee we best dbz fighter until fighterz….YUP!🤯🤣
Niosai, listen to me and listen to me good. I'm telling you right now, that I am 100% sure that this time next year your subscribers will double easily. You will be a very successful RUclips Content Creator. I see everything in you to achieve that. Your Content, the way you Cut things and put them together, your voice, your obviously enthusiasm in what you do and the speed you put out high quality videos is only the tip of the ice berg of what I think will make you super successful. It's really amazing to watch your channel grow.
And because you offered it, I will be the one who stands in line for the "I Played EVERY DragonBall RPG" Videos. Please dear Shen... uhmm I mean... Please dear Niosai here my Video-Wish. Merry Christmas :)
Tenkaichi Budakai mode, lol was the first Tenkaichi Budakai. Holy crap.😂
Im not sure if this counts or not but can you do a part 3 or bonus with games like Hyper DBZ even though its technically a mugen its customized and geared towards dragonball only withb full chracters made by the same person designing the games combat
There will be a part 3 and I will be at least mentioning Hyper DBZ :)
Only good thing about final bout is the soundtrack, it has a fire soundtrack
17:07 Why does this looks like a Street Breakdance stand out???
Dragon ball ultimate battle 22 was the first dragon ball fighting game I played as a child
Im not sure exactly which ones they were cause they were in japanese (I do recogise 22 but not the other one) but my cousins and I somehow got ahold of burned japanese copies of 2 games and used to do the swap disk trick to play them. We had no idea what to do since it was in japanese but as little kids it was so cool to finally be able to play something from DBZ!
dragon ball taiketsu got me cracking like the was he was talking
17:57 Okay, but can we take a moment to appreciate that Steve Blum HAS officially voiced Goku? I mean, come on, it’s so strange!
Ikr???
I was trying to figure out why I never heard of Taiketsu when I was a GBA and DBZ fiend. Then I saw it and remembered that I played it for 1 minute and deleted it from my memory.
dragon ball gt: final bout is in desperate need of a remaster.
Now this is some of that jank I remember playing (now knowing it was because they didn't leave Japan)
Piccolo's voice in Final Bout 😱😱
12:05 Well, the challenge is you must aware to change your character and doing some scenario like the original Manga/anime to get 100 Point.
and its very frustating... when you do one-to-one battle.
I had Taiketsu back in the day, and it was a weird experience. Despite being fully aware of how it was looking absolutely dreadful and un-DBZ-like, gameplay kinda made up for it. It was pretty responsive and dynamic. I do remember really struggling to pull out super-moves though.
RUclipsr Matt McMuscles also did a video on Taiketsu, part of his "worst fighting game" videos
It's definitely the most fun terrible fighting game I've played lol
I think I've seen his video! :)
I feel like we take Being able to Transform in the newer games for granted cause looking at these it's safe to assume we couldn't Always do that XD
Wait what do you mean the American release of Battle 22 doesn't have the intro dialogues? I distinctively remember it having them. My friend and I would laugh a lot at the words we understood because... Well it was japanese, which we didn't understand, and we neither did English for that matter.
