NRG Half Hull Planking Project

This is an overview video of the assembly of the 18th-Century Merchantman Half-Hull Planking Kit, purchased from the NRG store. This kit allows the builder to experience nearly every technique needed in planking. I found that this kit described the principles of planking and was most instructive to me through a “hands on” step by step process.

I came to know Him when I was 40 yrs old. And I started building model boats when I retired. I no longer worry (too much) about the bad things that come my way, but really enjoy the good times when they do come - such as nice comments as yours, and when I finish another boat :-) Ken

Im looking at the Medway Longboat or the Amati Scottish Fifie for my next boat.
Im currently building a new work bench with a spray booth, but will start building boats soon.

I'm glad you like the video. Building these models are a challenge, but with patience and practice one can become good at it. It is a very fun and rewarding hobby. This kit would be a good one to start with. Not too many tools required, and the instructions and build logs on modelshipworld.com make the directions fairly clear.

I would love to see a step by step video on this project. I bought this kit and I am still trying to figure it out. I sure the instructions are clear, but for me it’s confusing.

I know what you mean But l learned a lot from this kit. I see there is a build log in work for this kit on Modelshipworld.com. That was not available when I was building. I recommend you search the site for NRG Half Hull Planking Project and check it out.
