in case anyone is reading comments to this video in 2019, i want to tell the world that this film is streaming on kanopy, so if you're in north america and your library participates in that service, you can watch it for free. i just saw it, and the scene where they play teenage kicks is everything i want movies to be.
I just watched this because of the suggestion on Home Entertainment Service. I simply adore this film. I also cried twice. You are reminded of the pure unadulterated joy of music through the eyes of the wonderfully portrayed Terri Hooley. It’s now one of my favourite films so thanks for that Kermode 👌
Gutted I missed this at Keswick Film Festival, must see this soon, it sounds and looks amazing, and Dr K's recommendation just makes me want to see it more.
Saw this film on a plane. Can't remember where i was going but i absoballylutely loved this fillum. The poor bored squaddies on patrol really good and thought provoking and yes i did snivel a fair bit.
'As good as 'The Buddy Holly Story'', eh? That film got by on Busey's bravura performance (and a great ensemble) but the script/sub-plotting was weak. Now, I may be alone in hating Feargal Sharkey with every fibre of my being (corporate company man that he is) so how I will react to the film will probably be subjective. That Petrol Emotion were so much better and incredibly under-rated. ;-)
Mark is right, it is a double tear-jerker. And a fine piece of film-making. A+

It's 2023. I have only just seen (and therefore heard about) this film. Never too late though! Fantastic piece of work.

I really hope this gets shown in the States...

I want Kermode to review Sound City by Dave Grohl.
