Let's not forget the unsung hero of this story: Erroll Garner one of the all time best jazz pianists of all time, and the writer of this legendary piece
that's the problem here. a lot of singers know this song, sing this song, but they don't know who erroll garner is.
And he didn't know he wrote the middle 8 with the wrong chords....
My mom used to play Erroll Garner’s music on the piano everyday. She would play almost exactly the same as his jazzy style. When I miss my mom, I listen to Erroll Garner’s albums.

That quiet, deep whisper she does reminds me of all those incredibly special moments I had with mom at the riverbanks in Japan. Feet splashing in cold water, asking what every plant and fish was while bossa played over our cd player. What an amazing memory that brought up!

I love how Jazz music lovers never say that this sounds better than the original you guys appreciate how an artist makes a song their own and always give credit to the originators weather its the composer, writer or muscians. So beautiful this one never fails
Laufey doesn't credit the instrumental's composer Erroll Garner, or Johnny Burke who added the lyrics. So is your point that she's not a true artist?
It's another good cover from her. But the piano harmony isn't as good as Garner's original 1954 performance let alone some dynamite instrumentals since, and her vocal doesn't come close to Johnny Mathis' 1959 version. Covering the American Songbook doesn't make you a jazz titan.

Am just a 20 year old kid and am so happy thattttt jazz is coming backkk ....through an artist like laufeyyy omg i love herrr.....I was 14 year old when I got to know about jazz and I loved it but was kinda disappointed because 6 years ago people were just so into pop or mainstream music but m so happy rightnow beacuse of this shift in music industry

She has a distinctive, original, sound and her piano accompaniment is wonderful. The single camera filming is pleasing, and a welcome relief from the videos that "cut" every two seconds.
After all this time ive been imagining Laufey cover this song..now it became reality, as always she never disappointed US!
I like your guitar version of this too, but this piano version is such a perfect immortalization of this song. I love the cut to black at the end as the resolution fades out.

Ever since I first heard you, I’ve completely fell in love. The first time I heard “From the Start” I was loosing my mind in how good the tune and lyrics were. You have changed my life in so many ways, but not just me. The lyrics you put into your music are so accurate and beautiful that I can relate to all of it in any occasion. It’s like when that one person looks you in the eyes and you feel like you’re going to shatter into a million pieces and it’s like they understand you just by taking one look into your eyes, and I have never heard any other artist able to express that kind of emotion better than you can. You are an absolute inspiration, a legend of this generation and I hope you get far because music like this could truly change the perspective of someone’s life.

At 71 years old and a lover of Misty for more years than I can shake a stick at, listening to whoever sings it, this version is right up there and destined to be a 'classic' interpretation. It is mesmerizingly, so soulfully beautiful. I would trade 'analising ' it for just listening any day. What a great musician.
