  • Ya'll here for the quadsome??
Today I'm installing the final part of our Speedhut gauge install series. Well it was two episodes... Not much of a series actually. I ordered a 4 1/2 inch GPS Speedometer with tachometer built in to go along with our previously installed 4.5" quad gauge. The 4 in 1 gauge has coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level and volts all in one big gauge - pretty cool. Here's the link to installing that gauge and making the wooden panel that holds everything.
    • Making a Custom Gauge ...
I went with the dark red color because I thought it contrasted nicely with the black interior (well at least the black interior I currently have installed) and the white paint of the car. I think its subtly sporty which goes well with a LS swapped 1963 Buick Riviera and give the gauges a modern vibe.

The GPS option is totally worth it, it makes install a snap. I still don't agree with running the antenna outside the car but sticking it on the dash in the corner or out the defrost vents has worked fine for me. From my testing it takes about 34 seconds to sync with the GPS satellites. For the tach I had to use a pull-up resistor on the tach output wire coming from our 2008 5.3 Chevy Silverado ecu. Now you don't have to do this. Your can always be just snag onto one of your coil control output wires, but if you hook to the tach output wire you can adjust your "tach resolution" in HP Tuners to adjust your rpm up and down to make the gauge "look" correct which in my opinion is better then accurate but looks high or low. Your mileage may vary... I also sprung for the speedometer with added high beam and turn signal indicators - they work great.
Here's the specs of my gauges if interested:

Found it! Sorry for the delay, I never set mine up cause the car is just a cruiser so no need on my application. On the bottom of the second page of the manual it shows the tech setup menu and it’s one of the options in there. Cheers buddy!

Do it! SpeedHut has so many configuration options - I think it’s fun to just go over there and play with stuff.

Maintaining the same RPM should keep you pretty close.

You could always use a speedo output signal from the trans if it’s electronic based or if it’s mechanical you could always use a converter.
