    I like how you ignored the wasp nest on the wire and left it there lol

      Those darn things get weird places every season somehow. I got it cleaned up and outta there after I finished up.

    Surprised they don't have a digital readout option. Think that is what I would prefer, although I think the hand style like you have looks better. Nice video!

      I never thought about that. You’re right. I’m surprised there isn’t a digital option. I get the digital readout on our Garmin chart plotter. But I do like the look of the analog gauge better. It’s more classic looking and fits the era of the boat

    Is the gauge self supporting? No need for an antenna or a source? The gauge will find the GPS signal all on it's own?
    That would be perfect!
    Thanks for anyone answering this question.

    • @NKPGarage
      @NKPGarage  2 года назад +2

      That's right, it has its own internal GPS antenna. No need for anything external. You just install the gauge, give it power, and you're good to go!!

      @@NKPGarage but why then was it reading 5 when you were stationary?

    Once again l come to your page for great info doing all my gauges you bypass the constant 12v just for switch 12v any problems with that and what would be the benefit of a constant power in the manual they say they recommended the constant 12v

    • @NKPGarage
      @NKPGarage  8 месяцев назад

      Either switched or constant would work. I'm personally not a fan of having constant power to anything unless it is absolutely necessary, or unless it has some sort of an "off" switch.

    on the old gauge they did not label the ground and positive for the light because just to run a 12 volt incondecent bulb light it does not matter which prong the ground or positive went on it would work either way the new one matters because it doesn't just work for the light know but also the gps functionalty

    • @NKPGarage
      @NKPGarage  2 года назад

      That makes a lot of sense. I wasn't thinking of the older gauge's polarity in the wires. Thank you for sharing, that's great information to know!

    Are there any silly warnings on the install instructions like keep at least 2ft away from magnets, compass, speakers, ect?

    • @NKPGarage
      @NKPGarage  Год назад

      Nope, nothing like that which I remember seeing. It has been working great.

    This speedometer store and récords mileage after turn off?

    • @NKPGarage
      @NKPGarage  3 месяца назад

      No. On a boat there’s no measurement of mileage over time. Boat age and usage is measured in hours of engine runtime.

    Did you leave the old rubber tube from the pitot in place or pinch it off somehow so that water won't enter the boat behind the dashboard?

    • @NKPGarage
      @NKPGarage  Год назад

      At first I looped it and punched it off with a zip tie. Later on when I was doing some rewording I removed it completely. Just make sure to punch it off at least or water will drip from it

      @@NKPGarage It's so odd - when I call, Faria keeps telling me that these have incandescent bulbs in them but you (and all of their sale sheets) say otherwise. It's wild.
