I liked the 2nd mic for her voice better. It sounds a little bright but with a high roll off and saturation you can get it warm and keep some dynamics. Just my 2 cents.

I felt that the SM27 had a much more 'open' 'airy' sound. The SM7B had a bit of a 'blanket' thrown over the clarity.

@@ShubhamNagarji that is called structuring(i guess). imo, you should try putting low pass filter on melody in verses, more hype in the chorus and counter melody the chorus. The best and for sure working way to unlock that ability is to listen and analyse more music you hear everyday

I was gonna get the ksm32 to replace my sm7b but glad she pick the sm7b. I like sm27 but my voice just work better with dynamic mic. Sm7b is dynamic mic it doesn’t need a pop filter and is best for non treated room because it only pick up your voice. If u can get a stereo interface or a stereo plug in this mic can sound incredibly better.

It's so that the mic doesn't clip the audio as well as have headroom for the mixing / mastering phase.

Also a lot of plugins, analog emulations especially work best with an input signal of around that -18 range. (Not -18 peaks, but average volume, usually a separate indicator in the monitoring bar).
