  • This video is a re-shoot of the original video showing how to tie a Quick-Release Bowline Knot. The actual knot tying portion was re-shot for a better view. It should be noted that although the Quick-Release is handy for use around a camp for various purposes, it should not be used or climbing or any type of life-support.

Thanks John, fantastic demonstration of the bowline knot. I use a quick release on most of my anchoring knots already however have never done so with the bowline as I don't normally use it for a tie out situation like the ridgeline. I normally use two half hitches for that as I learned that way in Boy Scouts umpteen years ago :). I really like the idea of using the bowline for it now. Thanks! I would not recommend using the quick release version on a line I was using to ascend or descend with though,. that would probably be dangerous if for some reason the rabbits head got caught on something.

    Great video !
That's a nice little curl back on the tail end.
I have my own professional Tree service company and I always teach my green horns to NEVER tie knots in ropes it is always about the half hitches. If you have any kind of weight put on a knot, you are going to be cut your rope apart. That's a nice little back door on the bowline.
    👍👍
