The bed gap "issue" will more than likely "go away" dependent on the color that you decide to paint the truck. I look at it this way, it will bother you more than any one else that comes to admire your work. I had an "older gentleman" tell me something when I was a teenager working on the body of my first car, which was a 65' Pontiac 2+2. I had only two bottlecap hub caps and two full cover wheel covers. I thought it would look dumb with them mis-matched. He said if I put the same ones on one side and the other on the other side, a person can only look at one side at a time. It took a quite awhile before any of my buddies noticed the difference. I finally got the other two bottlecap hubcaps and then proceeded to wreck the car beyond repair.

Might be annoying to do but could you put a bulk head fitting in the front of the plastic tank and weld a fitting to the bottom of the original tank and run a 1 inch line between them. Gravity feed would work without the need for a pump. If you don't want to mess with the fuel tanks a low pressure pump would work great to pull fuel out through the factory pickup. The tank issue could be easily solved but will cost a little. First get another tank for the Tahoe. Cut the fill area off both tanks. The new tank holde should be cut small so you can settle cut off from old tank and panel bond to the new tank pointing forward. Take the tank from the inside and weld a pipe to the fill spout and run down to the bottom the cab . Then run pipe to the tank.

I was thinking of rotating the plastic tank around so that the filler spout is nearer to the old filler spout, the tank mounts on the plastic tank may have to be altered, but you would be able to link the 2 tank's together.
A simple external fuel pump linked to a switch on the dash would help in filling the plastic tank from the steel tank in the cab.
Helped a guy in the 70's fit 2 tanks to a 1968 long wheel based land rover, using a external electric fuel pump to pump fuel from the rear tank factory mount to the second tank that could be mounted under the front seat of the land rover, like the short 88 inch wheel base land rover would have mounted.
Both tanks had sender units with gauges on the dash, if you only want 1 guage you can use a 2 way switch to switch between the main tank and the secondary tank.
I think someone has already said about rotation of the tank to have the filler pipe closer to the cab.
But most of all it is your choice that matters more than anyone else, pickup truck is look good.

I had a possible option number 3 on your fuel tank issue... Of course I'd have to look at it more closer... Is crazy idea... could you just spin the tank around a 180゚ I mean the pump and everything is pretty much in the center of the tank so you shouldn't have to move any of the lines or anything Just spin the pump or the tank how are you look at it... Then your tank's fill lines will be in the front under the cab and all you have to do is connect up to your original fuel spout through the floor of the cab. of course you might have to do something different with brackets might be able to use the brackets you already got maybe and you're going to have to customize up a heat shield probably I don't see why that idea wouldn't work I mean it's not like you're having to contour to the floors of a Tahoe to worry about.
I have a ton of those clutch type screws on an Old 68 Rambler Holiday camper of mine That's what they used on everything...

Was 63 years ago, a touch more maybe that I did the fill dads tank and use a grease gun to fill his tires with.... those poor valve stems. Have you watched powernation?? They used the chevy six, a 235 and added a turbo.... with only five pounds of boost, it on the dyno produced safely 600 horsepower and almost eight hundred pounds of torque... and its not a expensive thing to do. Just do the idle up to the stop light and ask "Pink Slips"??? Ya, I'm just running a six cylinder... and then watch some fat like 9:00 X15 tires start melting down as you pull away like a big dog! Ya, we are too old to do that but hey for just one time for the "Gipper", just have some fun. This is not a fancy turbo or other stuff. I am sure that you could look at their playlist and find it. I was (too old now) a mechanic for everything that came through the door to heavy equipment working in the field. I am relatively certain this is not a hard thing to do, would give you power to pull top gears and get some great mileage. I am certain the motor you have has pressurized bearings (incerts) on the rods so its not going to fly apart, it would actually last longer and no head work required.... I am trying to talk you into it/LOL.

I know where 57 cab is they have done some modifications to it. The door knobs are trimmed off of the doors. It’s a GMC they have two different front clips with it one as welded together so it can hinge up as one piece. The other is original. It’s on a frame that’s been dropped and he probably wants 2500 and there is a bed with fenders short bed.

Can't you move the box forward and the fenders back? Or just the fenders back an inch.

There’s about a half inch between the steak pocket or back post and the fender on the back edge.

I have the other kit for the 55 truck using a squarebody chassis. The way it was planned out, zero consideration for a big block chevy. I have zero room for a fan. Beyond stupid! Front tires are way forward w/ the front fenders.

I had to work with the way my wheel centered in the wheel well by the cab placement I made some adjustments according to what I felt was best. I did have to modify my radiator also quite a bit but overall I’m liking the kit have use both with Ed and see if he has any suggestions edit easy chassis swap.

Have you tried to take the Tahoe tank out and turning it around so the fille is in the front you could run a filler up under the truck to the original filler neck
