I had lot of questions about the easy chassis swaps, and the kits are available from 1941 Chevy and GMC all the way to 1972 Chevy trucks. These kits use Chevy S10 S15 C10 style along with the Tahoe and suburban chassis for long beds. will it run? rat rod or retro

Cab is in great shape there boss ,alway's something damn rad .All the best sir well done
Thank you we’re trying to make it interesting as we do this project together with my family
Thank you Afton!
😌
the father daughter combo is great!
Yes, she’s my editor. This is our first attempt at RUclips, so forgive our bumpiness.
@@russellmcconahay7297 its authentic and real, plus you guys are having fun! Who cares about bumpiness your showing a very cool build with great skill and doing it with your family and kids nothing better in my opinion
Cool case radiators fit perfect on 57 chevy trucks. I know! I bought one. Works great!!
Thank you
Looking good.
Thanks for coming along with us on the journey
Keep up the great work!
Thank you enjoy the journey
Russ what a fantastic view out side your shop . It looks like a post card . I would use the mechanical fan set up that came with the engine because G.M. spent a lot of time and engineering dollars to get that fan to cool that engine under the harshest condition . you have to remember G.M. design that Fan to pull volumes of air through the radiator and A.C condenser and that has a LOT to do with making the inside of a car cold instead of just cooler on days when its 95 + and humid , also Defrost mixes Heat And A/C and that is very useful . Stay well
Thanks for your encouragement. Sometimes I need it.
Good on you for getting inside with the power washer and getting it done 👍
Yes, I’m grateful for what abilities do you have with my legs?
Family affair, love it , your moving rite along , peace
Like I said, in one of the videos, I wish I could work at the speed that I do when I put it in the fast forward
@@russellmcconahay7297 don't we all
Looks like it's coming along quite nice 👍
I wish I had more time in the shop
Thanks Afton, I liked the cameo. Your production of your dad's truck build is awesome. Super well put together. You guys are a great team. Be safe.
Thank you I will pass it on
Thanks for sharing, you could fabricate the new radiator, cut and tig will be fine and if your not sure about your tig ability reach out to a viewer and you'll get help for sure. Look foward to the next video , stay safe. 👍
Yes, I need to learn how to tig weld before I touch this though.
Great work all around! Small critique, the music between speaking is quite a bit louder than it needs to be.
Yes, I think we have a result for that. Thank you for the feedback plays differently on the machine work editing on then playing on a regular computer so we will check that before we send it out again.
They won't have any problem with the rad. I've done many of them for stock cars. Nice truck. Keep smilin.
Thank you I’m trying to find a shop close that can do it
If I recall, you're using Dakota Digital gauges. If you decide to go with Electric fans, Use Dakota's Digital fan controller. It will bring the fan on when needed but also, will shut it off at a predetermined speed. It's pretty Cool. I have 2 fans on my 37 Pickup and it will stage them as well. If you said where you are, I missed it. But I'm guessing you're in the Valley south of SLC. I was in NEPHI a few times helping build a Gyrocopter at the airport. When it was completed we flew it in January from Nephi to Custer SD. Going over the Wasatch was interesting to say the least
That sounds kind of crazy. I don’t quite understand how those work.
another quality video bud.
Still working on my audio perfection. I need to remember to clip the Mic on
Great video and series. When you are away from the camera its hard to hear you. You might want to use a mic
I just got one. I need to learn how to use it. It’s just a plug and play but the first time I had it in the wrong position and it sounded terrible the next time it worked better so hopefully it will be better in the next video. Sorry we’re brand new at this.
If your going with the tan exterior consider copper accents/two tone
I wish there was a way to test colors on the vehicle
@@russellmcconahay7297 vinyl wrap material works good and is easily removeable
Are you and @Joffrey Mason aware of each other? He is doing the exact project.
Yes, I have chatted with him in the comments a few times we’re on the same page
Maybe you could put the radiator in front of the bar it mounts on. Or cut it and make a couple of 90" angle iron mods to make a little more room. Its 0nly a few of inches more you need. Another way I've seen in other videos is to cut that bar and put a bar next to each side of the radiator.
Yeah, I need to look at all my options
@@russellmcconahay7297 I saw some options on DD Speed Shop when Dan puts radiators in different places. Also Casey's Customs just put out a video of a Chevy LS swap that he did a custom radiator mount
Hi Russell, great job on the Apache. So, what did you end up doing with the radiator? And what did you do to the fan to make it fit too?
I think the next video shows what we did with radiator, but I cut off the mounting tabs moved the radiator forward and got the clearance I needed. I then had a friend weld the tabs back on.
Do you have link to vintage air and other product in video
I will try to get together link to all of the components. I’m using and put it on the channel somehow. I’m new to this RUclips thing, but I think my youngsters can help me figure it out.
I'm considering doing this swap with my '77 El Camino. as the framework is basically the same as well as the 116 WB.
So help me understand, you’re gonna put the El Camino on another frame?
@@russellmcconahay7297 yes that's the tentative plan. on of these or a Roadmaster/Caprice frame.
Bummer about the radiator…. Lookin good though.
Yeah, I’m taking it to the radiator shop tomorrow.
I would be interested in the total dollar amount at end of project
So would my wife!
Sir - can you provide the measurements for the radiator notch on the drivers side?
Yes I will. Can you send me another comment so that it pops up in my reminders and I will pull it out of the box and take a look at it or you doing the same thing?
@@russellmcconahay7297 happy to do so. By "pull it out of the box", are you saying you didn't use it? I am building a '58 panel truck on an '01 Tahoe chassis
Are you using the stock AC compressor? Thanks
No, there is something different about the two units. The vintage air uses a continuous pressure pump and the factory Tahoe one does not work with the vintage air so there is a new pump that came with the vintage air system that I need to install.
RAPTOR COAT the floor, then carpet kit.of course line it with sound &heat shield it after coating it????
I just looked at the product raptor coat. I like that I think I am going to do that on the floor pan just saw that it is durable and help with the sound deadening.
Enjoy your videos
I’m wondering if you’re selling the old 57 frame?
I would consider it. Yes, the engine is in perfect condition.
@@russellmcconahay7297 was it an 8’ bed?
I had to use electric fan for room
I may I will see how the radiator thing turns out
If you make it too perfect it won't end up a daily driver.
Thank you I’ve never owned a brand new vehicle so I figured I better make one.
@@russellmcconahay7297 that's fair enough. Best of luck.
I hate to say anything but you get way to quiet compared to the rest of the audio when you are talking. Sometimes I can't hear you.
Appreciate the feedback we’re trying to get the audio thing figured out
@@russellmcconahay7297 I'm enjoying this build anyway and thought a little helpful critiquing wouldn't get anyone mad. Lol
