- Police have reported several people were killed and a number of others injured in a deadly shooting in Hamburg in northern Germany. The incident was reported to have taken place at a Jehovah's Witness hall.
Police deployed special security forces to the area. The shooting occurred in a district of the city called Alsterdorf. Police said the background and potential motive behind the shooting during a Jehovah's Witnesses event were unclear. "We have no indications of a perpetrator on the run," a police spokesperson said at the scene. They said there are "indications that a perpetrator may have been in the building and may be even among the dead."

I'm from Hamburg. It's quite a safe city. I grew up there. I used to walk around at 2am alone as a woman without any worries. Not much gun violence at all. No one owning guns for that matter. Will be interesting to see where they got that from. Hope everyone is safe, now.

I remember driving by this area of Hamburg, in 2019. If it was 21:00, most likely they were concluding the weekly mid-week meeting which begins at 19:00 or 19:30. Herzzerreißend. 💔

Terribly uncommon tragedy.
Canada and Germany are on par for the number of gun homicides but Germany has twice our population that's how uncommon this is.
So far
His name is Philpp F. He was 35 and a member of this community till 2021. He was a marksman and had a legal gun. (Heckler&Koch P30) There was an anonym witness a year ago who supposed that he had mental problems, as he hated religious groups. The police checked him in january 22 at home. Everthing was okay (arm storage etc.) He was never delinquent till yesterday. The police had no further treatment possibilities at that time. It is all very very sad. Specially as he killed a pregnant woman :-(

Those that are disfellowshipped have been baptized . Meaning, they have been fully educated in what God requires of them . They also are very well aware what the consequences are if they CHOOSE to rebel against God . They have intentionally committed gross sins against God , are not repentitive and are no longer loyal to God and his Bible based princeples . Our elders work with them FIRST to AVOID disfellowshippjng. They apply Bible counsel, direction and prayer. Those that have been disfelliwshipped, have intentionally CHOOSEN to continue their immoral behaviour after theyve recieved counseling . As our creator and Father, God has the right to set his standards in order to keep his congregations spiritually clean. God also has the authority as a Father, to protect the innocent ones from the immoral negative influence of the rebelious disfelliwshipped person. God teaches parents to discplene their children in rightousness .Why wouldnt he abide by his own counsel to his own children ? Do we not discplene our children to CORRECT , NOT condem them ? Many have repented and returned to God by his applied disceplene. Which is all he wants, to gain his children

The man was checked as a marksman with a gun license a month ago because of an anonymous complaint. The officials visited the man unannounced because there was a suspicion of mental illness. The weapon was properly stored, the man appeared to be well oriented. A necessary psychiatrist, who could have identified abnormalities, was not accompanied. Even the best gun laws fail when the officials of the monopoly holder of the use of force fail. The visit was probably the trigger for the crime, since the man now saw his delusions confirmed: "Bravo, Germany!"
The gunmans motivation was still the same whether he had access to a gun or not. Perhaps he could not have killed so many if did have a gun, or killed more if he had a more powerful one. The question is not about how he killed them, more about why

Do you know them? I knew a guy who used to be a JW from America. I don’t think they come from normal upbringing. Not the ones I know of. He had no social skills. Not sure every one of them were like that but the strangest guy I’ve ever met actually. They actually have many many weird restrictions that affect their lives actually. I wouldn’t say they’re peaceful. They may not be violent but self harming maybe.
Sadly, Jehovah's Witnesses were first ones arrested and imprisoned by SS and Himmler in the 1930's. Purple Triangle.

Guess what? The faculty for humanities (we call it Überseering 35) from which I graduated two months ago is located right in that district. Still, Jehowa's witnesses never bothered me or my fellow students outside the university. Most of them gather around the central station.

For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, having an appearance of godliness but proving false to its power.
That seems to make the most sense. How late do your mid weeks go (I know they last 1 1/2 hours but when does the last meeting end for the day)?
Midweek meetings are always early evening, it's normal even other religions did that.

it's not that unusual, we have mass shootings every couple of years. targeting jehovah's witnesses is a new one though, I wonder what the story is there. I would guess that the shooter was an ex-member or relative of a member.
