Dear Sweden, You can't just expect your immigrants to adapt to your culture and laws. You have to enforce it, in schools, in community centers, in language learning facilities. If someone is reluctant on adopting the culture... why are they in Sweden, why are you making them a citizen, what's your purpose?!
The entire media and all politics told us for 30 years that THEY SHOULDN'T adapt, they are equal to us if not better. Sweden culture sucks they said, we want MULTICULTURALISM, and people should not adapt, everyone should "integrate" instead, meaning retaining their uniqueness and forming "boundries" with every other cultural group, because these "boundries" between groups would be exiting and thrilling.

Your comment is true, they preached bs, it caused all this, at least this bad, will get much worse. I do think what they said was half right for times and situation. They should not be forced to adapt, they should be treated equally, culture respected, taking that risk, this shouldn't be prevented by force, at least back then, and i think for now, hopefully in the future. However, not how it was presented back then, bs was pushed instead, probably without knowing it, desperate to do what they felt was right. I dont know what Sweden should do, however, my bias, for most,. not all, in similar, uncomfortable to say it nicely, too multicultural situations, not to try to end it forcefully, keep taking it, risking everything, hoping for the best, by believing or feeling, this way is the best chance for it. Could be my delusion, among many others.
"God created man in his own image" - is what this is about. They want to be followed and their followers to look up to them and worship them. And while doing so and ignoring reality, they got what was coming to them.
Sweden was the most peaceful, closest nation to a utopia the world had ever known till the 2000's, when Sweden took in hundreds of thousands of people from a vastly different culture. People with opposing views, religion, values, & morals. THIS is why Sweden is going through this, and it should sadden & infuriate everyone.
I couldn't have put it better.. How bizarre is it, that the nation and culture that, after millions of years of human evolution, finally achieved a nearly perfect system for our species to live peacefully and happily, was stripped of its incredible progress by an external population, so far behind, that couldn't even level up with the local values? And all allowed by them, because of their ingenuity and good intentions.. It's beyond tragic and messed up. I wish with all of my heart that the Swedes can defend and fully restore the beautiful country they so very much deserve. Stay strong, and thank you for all your gifts to humanity.

Only way it changes is family pressure. You get involved with gangs then your entire family gets deported. Brothers and sisters, parents, your pets, everyone.
I am a Norwegian i am angry at Sweden authorities who have let this go so far. We fear that these gangs will move into Norway. Sweden and its gangs have created a dangerous template that can easily spill over to its neighbouring countries.
The Bandidos were founded in Norway in 1995 during the Nordic Biker War, a conflict in which they feuded with the Hells Angels over territory and control of the drug trade. The National Criminal Investigation Service (NCIS, or Kripos) considers the Bandidos an organized criminal motorcycle club. According to figures found in the Norwegian National Police Directorate for 2014, 62% of Bandidos members in Norway had previous criminal convictions. The club has five chapters and approximately forty members in the country. The Norwegian Bandidos are affiliated with the Chicanos and X-Team and are allied with the Outlaws.
@@owindustry ''B-but whabbout..?'' You said it yourself, there are only forty Bandidos members left in Norway; they're probably too old and senile to even attempt any criminal acts anyway. And funnily enough, the Nordic Biker War spilled over from Denmark into Sweden and Norway, proving OP's point.
It has already spilled in to Denmark, the swedish gangs are using hire for murder gangs now, and the danish gangs have begun using them as well. We have 1200 gang members in Denmark, Sweden has 30.000. Chew on that
The Chinese have a term called "moral kidnapping." It's when you guilt-trip someone into doing something totally unreasonable for them for the sake of some vaguely defined morality: "How dare you not do x? If you don't you're a terrible human being!" Many Chinese consider moral kidnapping to be the Worst immoral act, because the victims are always the nicest people. Nobody will try to morally kidnap a jerk, they know they'll say no. They always go for the person who is too nice to say no. As a result, the good people suffer, either that or they need to become bad people to protect themselves. Sweden has become a lesson on what happens when you morally kidnap yourself.
They know how to do it well enough. Maoist self-criticism sessions almost resemble some western concept of sensibility training. Teacher in Sweden. One of the things that struck me is that when we notice a kid being a "springpojke", recruited by gangs, nothing happens. We call authorities but the bureaucracy is complex and in the end absolutely nothing happens, the kid just gets more and more involved in criminality, stops going to school and breaks lose from his/her family.
This is a very concerning issue, and it's clear that more needs to be done to address it. It's important that there are clear and efficient processes in place to support and intervene with at-risk youth before they become deeply entrenched in criminal behavior. As a teacher, it's crucial to advocate for resources and support for these students, and to work collaboratively with authorities to ensure that they receive the help they need. Additionally, it's important to provide a supportive and stable environment for these students within the school setting, to help prevent them from falling further into criminality. It's important not to give up on these students, and to continue working towards finding solutions to support them and help them make better choices for their futures.
Where are the PARENTS? It's not the government's job to raise these kids until they're locked up in jails/prisons and then they're property of the state. The parent's need to get a very firm grip on their kids and get their a$$es in line with a quickness.
@@NikKnows404 well from my experience, these kids don't have both parents at home and many of the parents work night shifts so the kid is basically home alone, bored and this is how the gangs attract them. There isn't a country in the world there the parents have so much freedom with the kids as in Sweden. Maybe Norway then. So many off days, hollidays, staying at home with kids, payed etc.

A party in Germany was discussing this, but there is a diffarmation campaign going on against them in the media for that, even though what they are saying is conform with our laws.
If you deport the parents, the kids who were born there will blow up. You can only deport single people who live alone and have no family on the territory.
Sweden is taken over by immigrants. Denial doesn’t help. Like saying “the right wing party claims” or “the son of an immigrant doesn’t agree with this”. You have to tackle the root-cause if you want to resolve it, and not hide behind laws that were made for another type of people (Swedish). This is what happens with the result of Sweden's uncontrolled immigration policies of people from outside the EU. People from warzones and violent lands bring with them a mentality for violence.
I wouldn't give them the credit of claiming it's from "kindness". No, it's from a sense of self importance. Liberalism doesn't have to be treated like a religion.
I was there for two months from the US. I absolutely loved Sweden and it’s beauty, cleanliness, and a the tranquility. But, there are areas that feel more like the Middle East than a western culture. There are videos of people sharing how to get in to Sweden, likely to enjoy the system for free. Lots of children by non working wives with 5 children is the norm for many of the immigrants, even in the countryside where my sister grew up. the root-cause of this problem is the international drug trade which involves the network of mafia and politicians all around the world especially from US. Mafia recruits the most vulnerable, poor youngsters all around the world. So this is an issue that Sweden can not tackle only by itself.
Same as in my country, the Netherlands. We know who they are, we know where they're from, we know what they do. But saying out loud that a 4% minority group is responsible for more then 25% of violent crime incidents is somehow racist
But do you know who opened the gates for them to come into Europe though? Its one thing to blame the symptoms of the problem, its another to blame the root of the problem, and unfortunately most "conservatives" would still call that being "anti semitic".
Many would argue that Swedish politicians bear a significant responsibility for the high rates of crime and the barriers to social mobility experienced by individuals from low socioeconomic backgrounds in Sweden. The country's political system, which is heavily influenced by social democracy, has implemented policies that prioritize equality and social welfare. While this has led to impressive levels of societal cohesion and a strong safety net for those in need, it has also created a system where it is incredibly difficult for individuals to break out of their predetermined social class and achieve upward mobility.
The majority of people who hate immigrants and people from low socioeconomic backgrounds are upperclass and middle class individuals and working class people who have been brainwashed by media.
Sweden didn’t have this problem just a few decades ago. They had a near perfect society with safety and social harmony. Now they’ve ruined their society and there’s no easy way out. This is the case for most Western countries sadly.

In a truly multicultural society, you have to crack down hard on crime. This is something the United States has long understood. When citizens aren't bound by a shared ethnicity, religion, language or set of cultural values and beliefs, the law has to be the "universal language" that everybody understands. Sweden is a wonderful country, but like a lot of other countries in Europe, its political leaders were wildly overconfident about Sweden's ability to integrate vast numbers of immigrants from countries where tolerance and respect for human rights and democracy are often entirely absent. The problem here isn't that Sweden hasn't been welcoming enough; the problem, in many ways, is exactly the opposite: Sweden hasn't done enough to force its immigrants to fully assimilate and accept Swedish norms.

Yes, in some ways, that's the point. The US is the most multicultural nation on earth. The social ties are often weak. You have to incarcerate bad actors to maintain a broadly safe and civil society in that kind of environment. You're effectively compensating for the absence of shared values. That's why I was never super-impressed by studies touting low Swedish or German incarceration rates several decades ago, in comparison with the US. An ethnically and culturally homogeneous society is going to have less crime, almost by definition. There are a million little, unseen ties and understandings and family connections that pressure people not to turn to crime. But multicultural societies can be quite different. @@larsjohansson660
Having lived in inner-city Stockholm for many years, I believe the segregated nature of many Swedish cities is an important factor in why this has been allowed to go on for so long. Until quite recently, if you were a well-off native Swede with a university education and an office job, you could live your entire life without even noticing the gang violence. Walk around Östermalm, Vasastan, Kungsholmen, Bromma or Lidingö - the places where politicians, academics and journalists live - and it seems unimaginable that anything like this could be happening in the same city. The swedish establishment has been able to ignore the growing gang violence epidemic because for so long it was limited to dreary, out-of-the-way planned suburbs that are physically separate from the places they live. Swedish cities, especially Stockholm, tend to develop almosr rhizomatically, with each neighborhood its own little world centered on a train station and walled off against the rest of the city by hills, forests, water and/or highways. In other words, neighborhoods don’t spill into eachother, and you don’t wander into a place by accident. Add a large population of poor immigrants and increasing social inequality, and you end up with a city made up of disjointed villages that are worlds apart. For too long, the people who have the power to change things were able to ignore the problem because despite living in the same cities, it was entirely abstract. And now that the bombings are spilling into Karlaplan and Hammarby Sjöstad, it may be too late.
Yes, for political reasons it's been allowed to deteriorate too far and the situation is today most probably irreversible. Swedish taxpayers ! Hold on to your hat and enjoy the ride downhill.....

@@tarqinquentinsson-obviousl957 it's not that he is believing it's spilling into other areas, it very much is. The biggest issue right now is the amount of deadly shootings taking place in better socio-economic areas. The drug-trafficking is also taking place in different areas due to gangs spreading and becoming bigger. One reason for gang violence taking place in different areas is because the police are putting more resources into controlling suburbs. Another one is also because the gangster life is romantically glorified due to the huge amount of gangster rap, which intrigues young second generation immigrants into joining gangs, even though they are well enough socio-economically. The problem is that it's disturbingly easy to get recruited into a gang. Gangs literally post simple sales jobs, courier jobs and hitjobs on snapchat/tiktok for cash.
@@henrikhillemyr4894 I didn't mean "think" as in "believe", I meant "what do you think the mechanism is" lol but I guess you've answered my question - it's that the gangs are proactively expanding both in terms of the physical size of their territory, and they are looking beyond their own neighbourhoods for recruits (both actively and passively)?

The Swedish culture and work ethic also play a role in this issue. Swedish people are known for their dedication to work, often putting in long hours and sacrificing personal time for their careers. This creates a monotonous and robotic lifestyle, leaving little room for personal growth or enjoyment. As a result, many individuals turn to criminal activities as a means of finding excitement and fulfillment in their lives.

Sweden before immigration was one of the lowest violence/crime countries in the world, so the society he is blaming is actually the society which he has caused. The problem has become so Obvious in Sweden as well as other European countries that now at least we can talk about it. Too bad it needed to reach this point to even begin a discussion about it. It’s been happening for many years and at first a lot of pressure was put to swipe it under the rug. Let’s see how long it takes our governments to start discussing solutions. Maybe another 10 year wait for that?

The "liberal" elite in Sweden f-dup and now the citizens pay the price. A visit to Sweden and Stockholm's central station was an eye opener. The young Swedish woman who shadowed my wife and I for safety was no fan of multiculturalism when we spoke to her on our train. More recently in Helsinki talking to a young Finnish man I realised they have been observing Sweden (not unsurprisingly) and are very skeptical about the benefits of a immigration. There is no nice fix for Sweden, building prisons and harsh sentencing might be a start. You can forget rehabilitation!
These are issues facing all western countries, now. The social changes that occur in the west are complex, but as we only see patterns of large scale migration happening in one direction, these problems are uniquely ours to solve. Thank you DW for this excellent piece.

I left Sweden because some months before i departed something violently horrible happened to my neighbor Sven. His daughter was raped 4 times in a week by somali and iraqi immigrants when she went commuting from home to school and forth. It is sad to see what the once beautiful country has become now.
Swedish society is based on a culture of kindness and respect, which some other "cultures" see as a weakness to be exploited. The result of this "multiculturalism" is plain for all to see.
Unfortunately, Sweden had a relatively generous immigration stance that was not prepared for an increased immigration in the last 20 years. The authorities were not prepared and then much too passive. Adding to this was a decreased funding of schools and social authorities in the last 30 years. One of the main causes for the increased immigration was the decision by US to invade Afghanistan and then Iraq that destabilized Middle East. Had this been done with better overall planning and not only focused on the military part then perhaps countries in EU would not have had this problem today.
I believe the problem of immigration would have happened anyway without the help of war in the countries you already mentioned. It’s also the deteriorating living conditions in poor countries and laxed immigration laws in Europe due to declining birth rates. Same is happening in the US, there’s no war in Latin America, however the number of people coming from Venezuela or Honduras, for example, has gone up exponentially in the US.
The politicians has been talking about these "jobs" for a decade now. We have a messed up system with welfare and other forms of subsidies, immigrants doesn't have to work here, the tax payers are paying for everything.

There are a few reasons why people may prioritize certain social justice issues over others. One reason is that issues like poverty, unemployment, and capitalism can be complex and systemic, making them more difficult to address and mobilize around compared to more tangible and visible issues like animal rights or international conflicts. Additionally, some individuals may feel more connected to certain causes based on their personal experiences, beliefs, or values. For example, people who have a strong sense of empathy or justice may be more inclined to advocate for marginalized groups or animals. Furthermore, there may be a lack of education or awareness about the root causes of poverty, unemployment, and capitalism, leading to a lack of prioritization of these issues in social movements. It is also possible that some individuals may feel overwhelmed by the scale of economic inequality and injustice, leading them to focus on smaller, more manageable issues instead. Overall, it is important for individuals and communities to engage in ongoing conversations and advocacy around addressing systemic issues like poverty, unemployment, and capitalism, in order to create a more just and equitable society for all.
This is what happens when politicians are in charge who have no idea how different cultures throughout the world cannot coexist. Then to welcome tens of thousands into their country.
In Denmark foreign citizens and descendants was 8% of the total population in 2004. In 2024 it's 15%. Danish people gets approx. 1 child per couple. Foreigners gets 2-3 children per couple. The issue here is immigrants outright refusing to assimilate to your host country that has agreed to take you on, even though every single immigrant is a risk investment. No one is asking you to stop being you, and everything that makes you unique and special. Rather, be a good neighbour, learn the language, become a contributing member to society. Interesting that the grandfather, who has spent 50 years in Sweden chooses to speak Turkish to the camera rather than Swedish. Although he is certainly not to blame for the death of his grandson , it does point to a failure to integrate.
Not necessarily. Plenty of people know more than one language and most will speak in their native language or the language they are most comfortable in when they can.
It was his son who died - a good man in real estate. It was his grandson who is in a gang and although grandpa and son tried to help the boy they were unable to get through to him. The fact that he is speaking Turkish I think is just because he is grief stricken and is reverting back to Turkish to properly address the situation. Turks of his age are generally hard working, maybe not that well educated academically, but peace loving all the same. His son turned out to be a credit to him.

You can't just expect your immigrants to adapt to your culture and laws.
I am a Norwegian i am angry at Sweden authorities who have let this go so far. We fear that these gangs will move into Norway.
Sweden and its gangs have created
a dangerous template that can easily spill over to its neighbouring countries.

The Chinese have a term called "moral kidnapping." It's when you guilt-trip someone into doing something totally unreasonable for them for the sake of some vaguely defined morality: "How dare you not do x? If you don't you're a terrible human being!"
Many Chinese consider moral kidnapping to be the Worst immoral act, because the victims are always the nicest people. Nobody will try to morally kidnap a jerk, they know they'll say no. They always go for the person who is too nice to say no. As a result, the good people suffer, either that or they need to become bad people to protect themselves.
Sweden has become a lesson on what happens when you morally kidnap yourself.

Adult crime = adult time. Sweden needs to change their laws, yesterday.
More like 10 years ago and its not like the people not wants it, our leaders are so corrupt .
The problem is people who take advantage of softness, not softness itself. Most Swedes don't take advantage of soft jails.
Same with Finland. Not just for immigrants but everyone

Good point. If only countries realized this and practiced this they would not have created the mess they now experience.
THANKYOU!!!!!! Finally someone who is able to actually apply first hand knowledge and facts to an extremely unbalanced debate full of people who are making assumptions only. I wish more people would listen to the truth rather than looking for comments that just inflate their own opinions.
out of interest, why do you think it is spilling into areas where it didn't happen before? presumably the demographics of the areas aren't changing... so what brings the gang violence out of the deprived areas?
@@henrikhillemyr4894 I didn't mean "think" as in "believe", I meant "what do you think the mechanism is" lol

Complete nonsense.
Iraq? More like the Syrian civil war is a lot of the issue.
As for Afghanistan, the Taliban didn't give up Bin Laden so 🤷♂
It should not have been done at all.
How about Syria buddy?
How did Sweden plan on finding jobs for all of the immigrants?
They didn't
The initial plan was to flood the job market with cheap, unskilled labour to lower the wages but that didn't work
The politicians has been talking about these "jobs" for a decade now. We have a messed up system with welfare and other forms of subsidies, immigrants doesn't have to work here, the tax payers are paying for everything.
They just drink tea and talk, no work.....
They did not came to Europe to work
Iraq, Iran and Syria immigration.. need we say more? I sincerely apologize for adding Iran into this mix. I do not even know why I put it on and I know many many Iranians . In fact my ex-husband is Iranian. his family is amazing they would never act like this, so my sincere apologies it was quite offensive to add them
Nope, not Iranians! Iranians are well educated and many of Iranians have companies and own businesses and are well integrated into the society. Don't make things up without knowing the true facts!
Iranians? They are considered the good immigrants here.
i love em good to have them here. glad they can come and share their food and culture.
As an iranian living the in the Netherlands rest assured my family isnt anything like them and i do agree about the immigrants being the problem
Zero tolerance to terrorists.
Dear sweden,
Don't let them destroy your beautiful country.
We won’t! Jimmie Åkesson and the Swedish Democrats will see to that!
Other countries should take notice.
The EU will force this upon your country either way. And the WEF will select a governent suitable for it
Why would they want to see a prophetic vision of their own futures?
This is what happens when politicians are in charge who have no idea how different cultures throughout the world cannot coexist. Then to welcome tens of thousands into their country.
In Denmark foreign citizens and descendants was 8% of the total population in 2004.
In 2024 it's 15%.
Danish people gets approx. 1 child per couple.
Foreigners gets 2-3 children per couple.
In 2060 the foreign population in Denmark is approx. 30% - and the political influence will be so high that the country is changed forever. The people fleeing from wars and conflicts they have created themselves, to bring it to other countries.
The funny thing is it CAN be reversed and they CAN become danish even though of a different skin color…….but you have to be VERY VERY dictatorial on enforcing patriotism and your cultural customs and making it clear that their citizenship will be revoked if they don’t comply….
Grandpa placed blame on everyone but the people who deserved to be blamed the most: the family, including himself. The parents and grandparents failed that kid and now he is dead. Whenever you throw your hands in the air and say, "That damned kid: I can't do anything with him," you are a failed authority figure. Whenever you call your kid your "best friend you are a failure as a parent. WHEN ARE PEOPLE LIKE THIS GOING TO WAKE UP AND SEE REALITY? The worst of this is still rampant here in the US. Terrible parents!
Terrible comprehension more like. It was the grandfather talking about his son as his best friend. It's the grandson that was a problem child and involved in gangs - the son (the grandson's father) was a real estate agent and targeted as retribution.
he could be from Turkiye but he has Armenian background not Turkish. He blamed everybody except himself. He didn`t know the fact that he is the root cause of the problem himself.
When you grow older, your parents become your friends.
@@owindustry - so you hate Armenians? What a shame to speak this way about a normal and good father who lost his son due to gang violence! The root of the problem might be as well you in pointing fingers.
@nascentebio he posted the same comment elsewhere too. Looks like a bot who is just spreading anti-Armenian hatred. i feel also heartbroken for the grandfather. He probably had a very difficult life, and struggled a lot, and now has to endure all the negative comments of some empathy-deprived people and ridiculous bots...
60% have criminal records in Denmark.
I remember when Swedes and other Europeans used to say this only happened in America. lol
but the situation is the worst of worst in America.
same can be said about europe, just depends on the country/city or part.@@tremblence

As a Russian citizen fond of Scandinavian culture, I really express my sympathy for Sweden and its people for their politeness and rich history. To be honest, I don't understand why the Swedish government doesn't take harsh measures to prevent the entitled immigrants from moving to Sweden. Maybe it's time to recognize that the policy of multiculturalism has failed and try to rapidly attenuate these negative effects caused by it. Anyway, good luck to Sweden and its people despite everything! 🇷🇺🤝🇸🇪
Ryssä se tunkee niitä moniosaajia nykyään Suomeen. Onneksi hallitus laittoi rajat kiinni. Jos Marinin vassarihallitus olisi vastuussa, niin rajat ja siiderivalaiden haaratkin olisivat auki odottaen ....
@Ye-tr5kbNo, Moscow is one of the safest cities on the planet today. Law and order plus amazing cultural life. There are immigrants, mostly hard working and law abiding. Totally different
If Russia invaded Sweden, most of the culture would be destroyed.
@Ye-tr5kbI Russia its much worse. Uzbekistan Tajikistan Kyrgyzstan etc are visa free for Russia
Thank You 🙏🇸🇪
As a son of mexican immigrants, my parents told me it's not about the race is about the values, even if its your own kind. Now many Mexicans are coming into Canada illegally. My parents worked hard to do things the right way because they believed in values of canada and about doing things the right way, the canadian way. If they don't bother to value canadian laws of immigration, imagine the value to put towards canadian criminal law. You need to let the people in who value and uphold your countries laws and customs .
Yeah. You guys have to keep The number of The peacefuls to minimum If you want to preserve your country
At least Mexicans are hard working and will not destroy Canada. Venezuelans that are used to free everything not so sure.
@@larissamello374 Venezuelans are hard working as well.
why did you go to Canada? did you watch the documentary called Canada is dying by Aaron Gunn.
@@owindustry Perhaps, people want to live in a friendlier country than America?
The issue here is immigrants outright refusing to assimilate to your host country that has agreed to take you on, even though every single immigrant is a risk investment. No one is asking you to stop being you, and everything that makes you unique and special. Rather, be a good neighbour, learn the language, become a contributing member to society. In most cases immigrants are from countries that didn’t value their citizens or had massive levels of corruption. Look at your new citizenship as a new lease on life, to become better and make incremental improvements in your family from a generational perspective. Stop expecting entitlements. You got your leg up, freedom in a new country that believes in democracy.
Europe refuse to adress the elephant in the room, immigrants.
Not all immigrants, just a specific demographic … no problem with Hinuds, Buddhists etc
majority of the immigrants are peaceful like %99 but you only focus on %1 of problematic people and try to punish all of them.
@@appletree6741Heh of course said the Hindu himself, your people arent great either look at the Latin couple in your own country. Even Afghanistan made fun of you guys.
Peaceful community spreading peace in everywhere 😢
It was his son who died, I think
I have to appreciate Deutsche Welle for their journalistic vigour and taking on an investigative bent of journalism that have otherwise phased out in favor of some of the more sensationalistic types of journalism. It is somber, explains the topic with respect to it, and I never feel like I am being lectured to, or taken to a position of 'this is the right way to think'.
