A lot of crying in your first year. That part gave me sniffles. Getting a master's degree and a bachelor's degree in two different fields is quite an achievement. Thanks for sharing.
currently a high school senior who's uchicago ed results come out in about a week and watching this made me want to get in so much more 😭. It was amazing seeing you bounce back and really find your ways of enjoying college !! actually super inspirational and had me proud smiling through the vid

so glad you’re here - and thanks for this sweet comment! and congrats on making it through high school!!! that’s huge! best of luck with everything💖 - a recent college grad
Hello! I'm a high school senior that was matched with UChicago via Questbridge and I want to say thank you because your videos helped me with my UChicago essay! I was able to have an idea of what my life would be at UChicago for the essays, and now I will be able to actually live it in person. You are truly inspiring and I hope that whatever is ahead will be wonderful and amazing! Thank you again!
hey alex!!! CONGRATS!!!🎉🤩 it’s amazing that you matched with uchicago, you should be so so proud of yourself! i’m glad i was able to help out with your decision making, and i hope you have the most amazing college experience ever! don’t hesitate to reach out if you ever have any questions!:) wishing you the best!❤️
I am currently an high school senior and I can definitely know more about how college works and the pressure it might brings. Overall thank u so much 4 all the contents u ve created. Congrats and all the bests in ur job research!❤❤❤
Thank you for sharing. It's really comforting to know i'm not the only one who's first year didn't go as planned. I'm going into my second year and I'm really nervous about making new friends - but watching your video makes me hopeful that things will get better
YT randomly recommended this video and me being bored out of my mind decided to give it a shot. I was surprised how nicely it was produced. It gave a glimpse into your life. I also got a master in comp sci and I've been a software engineer for 7 years. I still play volleyball weekly as well lol. Hope your job hunt goes well. Don't get discourage by a few rejections, software interviews are a skill to build of their own. And remember to always be confident and ask for equity/shares beside the salary in your job offers. We need more women in tech 💪
hahah something about that tech + volleyball lifestyle! amazing! thanks for your kind words, i really appreciate it!!! i’ll make sure to apply all of your advice and try my best! gotta represent the women in tech!🤩🫡
Watching this brought back a lot of happy memories for me! College was definitely one of the most difficult and rewarding periods of my life and I hope you also felt that all the difficult times were worth it in the end. Best of luck on post grad life! ❤
aw i’m so glad!!! what a crazy 4 years, i’m really glad you were able to view it as a very rewarding period of your life - i’m sure it was very special :) thanks for your kind words!! wishing you the best🤗❤️
Bro, I'm a sophomore at dartmouth and this literally made me tear up because of how much I relate to your story. You showed me that in the end, it's all gonna work out and I am so excited and nervous and am feeling all those weird feelings about the rest of college. Thank you for making this masterpiece. 🫶
that’s so sweet, thank you dhanush!!!😭 i promise it will work out. hang in there, and keep trying your best! you’re doing amazing, and when you graduate, you’re gonna look back be so freaking proud of yourself! i just know it😤
Congratulations! I’m current in my second year doing economics and I can clearly say I do not love it😅 Would you say you had a major career switch? From what you were doing to CS?
ahh econ is so hard😭 i’m sorry to hear that you don’t like it:// i definitely had a major career switch! for the first three years of college i was convinced i wanted to go to grad school for biology😬 took me til 3rd year to realize that it wasn’t it for me! my 4th year was entirely focused on computer science, and now i’m working as a software engineer! playing catchup was definitely tough, but it was also incredibly worth it. so don’t be afraid to try something new!! you have so much life ahead of you! and if you find that what you switched to isn’t for you, you can always switch back or try something new again!🤩 you got this!!!
hi! i’m a rising sophomore at uchicago. i took 3 cs classes last year and i have to say the intro classes are definitely not for beginners. so many of my friends gave up majoring in cs (including me). however, if you’ve coded before, then it may not be too hard (?) so i guess it depends on your background. good luck!!
i’m sorry for replying so late to this!!! i had an asus during high school that got me through half of freshman year until it snapped in half:’)) since then i’ve had a macbook air and a macbook pro (m1) that’s still with me today!:))
it’s def expensive but uchicago actually does a pretty good job with financial aid (which is a common misconception for private universities! often times private unis are good about financial aid so def look into it. don’t let finances stop you from applying and make sure to evaluate all your acceptances and packages before making that decision!)
nahh not at all! i applied waaay back (i’m class of 2023) so things are probably very different now! i got a 34 on the ACT, my gpa was a 3.96 (or 3.98, i really can’t remember😭), and i was volleyball captain, student council prez, and did a few random clubs like chess club and some student senate thing! i also ran track and field and did karate and played club volleyball and played hella piano haha i think the leadership positions helped me a lot! i also got some awards that probably helped - i got some piano/music composition ones and random academic club competition awards! i do think there’s a limit to how much high stats can help tho, i think essays and club activities are super duper important! if anything, my essays were probably the part of my app that was paid the most attention to (esp at uchicago, i think they care a lot about ur essays). hope this helped a bit, happy to answer any other questions if you have them! best of luck with everything🤩
Currently watching this after seeing Uchicago is doing summer sessions (I’m a sophomore in highschool) and I’m debating on applying bc I’m afraid I won’t get in… I let my grades slip during quarantine through 5-7 and my test scores aren’t as high as I hope and although I’m taking a few honors classes I still have a 3.6 GPA. Do you have any advice on applying for this or even just advice in general? P.s. LOVE this video and the vibes of it🫶🏼🫶🏼
hey life happens, and quarantine was incredibly difficult. i’m proud of you for sticking with it and investing in your education! this is gonna sound cheesy, but i really do think the best thing you can do for applications is to be authentic! your essays matter a lot, and that’s where you really get to express and differentiate yourself. ofc the grades and stats do too, but i think setting yourself apart from others is arguably more important! feel free to DM me on IG if you have specific questions, i’m happy to help!:))
Hey! So I am a Junior in high school and I am an honors student and have always been pushed to do college but never truly considered it until I saw you being honest about it. Seeing you with your friends made me believe it could actually be worth looking into. You are truly inspiring and amazing. You are more influential than you know! Keep uploading and keep being you! 🩵
hi brooklyn!! you have no idea how much that means to me, thanks for saying that:)) you just put the biggest smile on my face! congrats on being an honors student, that’s amazing!!! the external pressure of going to college is so real, and i’m sorry all that is put on you. college isn’t for everyone, but i can def say that it’s a wonderful investment, and i guarantee you’ll be able meet some awesome people like yourself! hang in there and keep being amazing❤️

oh wow! hi uchicago baddie
Do you recommend uchicago for computer science? I heard that’s it’s really stressful for stem majors in particular
