#leadworking #leadwork #baywindow
Lewis is a real artist. The flashings look incredible.
That really does look great. What code of lead was used on the bay roof?
Mainly 5 with some 6 and then 4 round chimneys.
#LeadArt ..... Now there's a Hobby?? ....... Strictly for the shed though, NOT the Roof EH? :-)
Waoo good
I hope Lewis has an apprentice looking over his shoulder - we need more people like him
Thumbs down? Seriously? Some folk. 🤪
Much Respect to my fellow craftsman, happy new year to you and your family!! Best wishes Robin
Great to see, to much poor work going on now, keep the standards high!
What a craftsman Lewis is, it looks terrific.
WOW, WOW, WOW, the lead work carried out by Lewis is incredible - he is not a builder, the man is an artist!
Quality workmanship 👌👍
That's great to have such a quality tradesman leading you along on those tricky flashings. It's advice like this that leads to hefty tips in his Christmas card!!
Watching Lewis Lead Welding and burning I started wondering if I could still do that. Then I thought could you blazes you daft old sod. Fabulous job, a real work of art and a joy to watch. Happy New Year Tim to you and yours. Regards Jim
I hear you mate , Used to do it years ago and wipe old lead water joints with tallow .. lol
@@stevemnmeep2296 hate the expression "but me too " think my wiping cloth is calling me ! "
WOW,...Lewis really is the master of his craft.I hope he is passing on his skills and knowledge to other people.
That’s great work in the US that would be a steel ridge cap and a lot of silicone and 20 years later your doing it again I’m glad there’s still guys doing it the old way!👍👍
Been waiting for this, happy new year.
From someone who spent a lot of my time as a Plumber doing lead work, that job looks fantastic.👍
I often take the diy approach to almost all jobs. I don’t know any people in the trades personally and don’t know who to trust, separating the experts from the expert bulls**ters! Inspired by fantastic channels like this and accepting a job will take me 10 times longer than people in the trades, ‘if you can diy’ approach is definitely the best! (Whilst saving lots of money to buy tools for the next job 😀). I think this vid highlights the art of a skilled tradesman who is a master in their craft though and bow down to this level of work. Fantastic!
I've found Instagram a great help in finding quality trades people, theres some epic accounts out there for all sorts of trades.
Good on you, Lewis. It's lovely to watch a craftsman at work. 🙏🏻
Absolutely stunning craftsmanship. No wonder Lewis is in such high demand.👍
Well done 🎩 off you have done a great job on the roof👍🏻great to see the work Lewis done true craftsmanship 👏👍🏻and the right decision to get him involved for the lead work. Happy new year to you and your family 🏴
A Lead Artisan
Lewis makes all of this and the lead burning in particular look so easy. Lead burning up an incline is one of the most difficult things I have ever tried to do and something that I never mastered. Thanks for sharing this.
Here in Australia we use cheap tin and Pop rivets and silicon it’s horrendous workmanship this is amazing
Lewis is great for guiding you, many tradesmen wouldnt.
It’s so great to watch a true craftsman at work. Lovely job. Thank You for sharing.
A true work of art. Beautiful and totally functional. Wow.
what a great job , you should be extremely proud of it .
Top work Lewis.
Your work looks first class and that welding looks amazing 👏👏
Happy New Year Tim n Family Hope 2021 is a better and more productive year for everyone,,, Best Wishes
So many have said it already but can't not comment. Lewis' work is something else. Fantastic craftsmanship and kudos to him for passing on some skills to you ( and for coming to tidy things up after you'd had a go 😜)
Great to see a Master at work, but cannot take from the great job you did on the entire roof, looking forward to the scaffolding coming down
When a functional piece of waterproofing turns into a work of art....
Amazing! I bet that took Lewis hours, real craftmanship
Wow... smooth as the icing on a wedding cake. Rare skills.
One word, ‘Excellent.’
Wow that is so cool and beautiful! 👌
Quality, what a craftsman.
I agree. He made it look so easy. Beautiful work
Amazing skills! It looks stunning!
I'd like to come hug your roof!
Cause I just love it!
Love leadwork done properly looks amazing so much better then the cheaper options
A thing of beauty
That's top workmanship right there. Class
a truly skilled person. lovely finish. now get off that bloody roof and start working on your workshop !!!!! :-)))
Some beautiful lead work. I have to say, you’re lucky you found someone who obviously has such pride in their work. I was left to dress all the lead on a large up and over roof with two hipped bays after our roofer lost the plot. His attempt at the lead work on one tile hung bay was laughable. Only he didn’t find it funny, he just threw a massive wobbly when I said I wasn’t happy. I ended up stripping the hanging tile, which was just as well as the felt and batten was terrible too. On the plus side I can now tile hang and cope with most flashing jobs (I’ve done a few since then). Anyway, point being - lead work is definitely an art that is set quite apart from general roofing jobs. Well done both of you!
Wow!!!
Lewis is a real craftsman with the leading. And your montage of him doing the work was wonderful.
Happy NewYear🌠🎶🥳
First class!

So glad you have this record for the kids to watch when they are older- beautiful.
Always great to see someone who is willing to teach and pass on knowledge and experience. Great stuff.
I’ve never seen a more beautiful roof
That’s so amazing what’s the expected life span of the new roof
8 thumbs down... really 😳 probably cowboys crying staying home without the job.
Great workmanship, excellent skills👍🏻
Thanks 👍
Defo got your moneys worth with him. Looks spot on!
Hi at one time I worked for the Gas Board and did some basic lead work but that is a different level altogether. Fantastic job love to watch artists at work .👍🏻

What an absolute craftsman. Beautiful work.
Great update again...
Happy New Year to you and your whole family.
I think we can all say a happy goodbye to 2020. 👍
Leadworking scills are phenomenal.
Skills
Really amazing job. What a professional.
Just wondering from a clueless perspective - I appreciate that lead is expensive but in terms of your time/money, what would be the cost difference in just putting the lead all around the chimney horizontally from the highest point instead of doing the stepping down thing?
Often done, it’s the easy option I guess and more suited to rendered walls rather than brick but you wouldn’t use any less lead. Just run the chase down straight. Many quick jobs on brick stacks around here have done it that way.
As one who has done this work, all I can say is wow!!
Wow. Brilliant work on the roof. Such skill! 💎💎💎
Happy New Year to you and your family/ amazing video to watch this outstanding craftsman at work we need more like him
Cracking lead job ,, heat and patients
Absolutely stunning!!
Impressive work it's a shame it's on top of a roof and you can't see much of it
a man who takes pride in his job.
Brilliant work! Some people say lead is nasty stuff. I say, if you don't try to eat it , it's beautiful stuff. No modern replacement. Lewis' work is second to none. You are not far behind! Keep it up! and Thanks!!! Happy New Year!!
