    Used to install that yrs ago. Used to have a lifetime warranty that would transfer once.
    It's light, easy to work with. It's flimsy, but since you're installing over a good decking plate, you'll be surprised how long it will last. I have roofs that are over 20 yrs old that are still holding up well. Nailing it, especially in the heat, direct sunlight does have a learning curve as to not crush material.

      If you buy your metal from a big box store (and most of the suppliers) they come with what are called 'closure strips' - they've got sticky tape on one side and they go on first. I've not watched the video yet to see if she did that. Some people would rather have the air circulating underneath....depends on the application/use. HOpe that helps.

  • @ronlovell5374
    @ronlovell5374 10 месяцев назад +1

    Looks nice! but I have to mention that going with a product that is darker in color and doubles the exposed roof area because of the corrigation, will increase the amount of solar gain/heat on the building, making it harder on existing HVAC systems and utility costs. Yes, luckily in this application it's on a garage, but i would definitely have second thoughts about using a product like this on a home.

    • @gregbell2117
      @gregbell2117 10 месяцев назад

      Doesn't double the exposed roof area for solar gain. If you look at it from the sun's perspective (imagine in the sky, 100 yards away), same sun-gaining area no matter the shape. Any increase in area due to the shape is offset by the sunlight being spread out.

    • @ronlovell5374
      @ronlovell5374 10 месяцев назад

      @gregbell2117 the corrigation easily doubles the surface area, if you were able to flatten those sheats they would double in width. More area = larger roof = more light/heat absorption, especially when the sun is above. She even said is was too hot to lean on while installing it.

    • @gregbell2117
      @gregbell2117 10 месяцев назад

      @@ronlovell5374 that double surface area has the same amount of sun shining on it - one roof's worth.

    In Dallas, you don't have to do a tear off if there's only one roof surface. If this is a third roof, you would have to be tear off to meet insurance requirements. This was memorable for me, when I did my own roof on a 1919 built house that had five roofs on it when I got to it: two asphalt shingle, two wood shingle, and a rolled roof material to get to the solid plank roofing. The city dump got tired of seeing me. And it went on so long the airgun for nailing them down was offered to me for free at the end of the rental. So five hours sounds great

    What makes houses hot it the blistering hot sun beating down on the roof & heating the attic, if there is one.
    WHAT IF, there was an air space? the roof underlayment would be in place like normal, then, the actual roof
    would be suspended a couple of inches above this underlayment-open on all sides so natural breezes could
    flow betwix this floating roof & the underlayment purging all the hot air?

Also you should trim that tree off the roof for starters. I have seen so many rotten roofs because ppl fail to realize that trees will kill your roof

    • @AprilWilkerson
      @AprilWilkerson  10 месяцев назад

      @@AprilWilkerson okay so tell me how you are going to see if anything is rotten underneath without taking the shingles off?? Your garage may be open underneath to see I understand that much. But some houses you can not tell. The best time to fix something is before it needs fixing, that's what preventative maintenance is all about, or do you wait till it leaks and ruins your interior as well?

      She did say that the shingles were damaged. "Looks fine on camera" and "actually is fine" are not the same thing. That's why you get an inspection when buying a house.

    Well, I guess if you ever want to take those off the roof you're going to have to replace all the shingles that used to be perfectly good. Since you have now put hundreds of holes into them.

    • @jonathanhadden8199
      @jonathanhadden8199 10 месяцев назад

      @wojtek-33 it makes sense if the shingles are completely trashed and need to be replaced, but that roof had perfectly good shingles that were probably only a few years old if that. It was a video solely for product placement and content nothing else.

    Honestly, not really liking this product. There is a huge number of exposed fasteners and that inherent flex in the product makes me concerned for long term expansion and contraction. Hopefully it works out, but not something for me

    Why not full length sheets, you will always get corrosion between the horizontal overlaps. Maybe this only happens here in Australia.
