I have been watching this since my childhood and while it has been the best rendition of the life of Shri Ram, I am saddened by the gradual substitution of the poetry and music of Ramcharitamanas that characterized the earlier rendition included the opening sequence.
याद हैं मुझे जब मेरे पिता हमें यह रामलीला दिखाने ले गए थे. शायद 1972 -73. तब से थोड़ा स्वरुप बदल गया पर इस नृत्य नाटिका की आत्मा नहीं बदली. शोभा जी के अथक प्रयत्नों का और हमारे सौभाग्य का फल हैं यह लीला. मेरे पिता ने मुझे यह दिखाकर बड़ा किया इसका ऋण नहीं चुका सकती. आखिरी बस न निकल जाये इसलिए अंतिम दृश्य न देख पाने का अफ़सोस आज भी हैं.

Mesmerising performance. Got to watch it live in my daughter ‘s school auditorium. Full of grace, overflowing energy and marvellous depiction. Absolute gold. Would like to watch again.
This Ramleela is worth watching. Superbly choreographed and very well presented. I am looking forward to watch it again for the second time this year. Just loved it.
For last 30 years , I have not missed any , from my childhood in sixties till late eighties it was being staged at ferozshah kotla grounds , it was famous as ferozshah kotla ki ramlila , we used to sit on back benches Rs 1 ticket , huge stage

Couldn’t agree more. The chaupaais from the Shri Ramcharitamanas by Goswami Tulsidas had the most profound effect. I wish they get that back! 🙏🙏
