Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra is one of India’s premier institutions engaged in the preservation and promotion of the nation’s cultural heritage. Since the institute was founded in 1947, the year of independence, an exclusive performing arts body called Jhankar formed by the Kendra, has been actively engaged in the revived of traditional Indian classical music and dance forms.
The Kendra's College of Music and Dance is India’s most popular institutes of performing arts,. The college has been in existence since 1952. Since the inception of the College o , the Kendra has been host to some of the most distinguished names in Indian performing arts. These eminent personalities have either taught at the institute or have studied in it.The mission of the College of Music and Dance is to train its students and help develop their skills and talents .The Kendra has a permanent Dance Drama Repertory, which stages a variety of productions based on Indian mythology and folklore.
